The main point of the article is to just go over 7 myths of the brain and why they are not entirely true. For example, some people say that you only use 10% of your brain, but really you use many parts of your brain which are all equal to more than 10%, so the myth is completely incorrect. The purpose is to expose to people that not everything you hear in movies or see on social media is always correct, and that by letting people know about these myths, they will think twice about accepting truth from everything on the internet. But the topic that is covered is that some brain "facts" are actually myths, and the article chooses 7 to debunk, like the myth that we humans only use 10% of our brain; That's entirely not true. We use far more than 10% of our brain, because we use different PARTS of our brains, all at different times. This myth being debunked is important because it doesn't make us sound so stupid (using only 1/10 of our brain power), but it also contradicts every movie, like Limitless, and Lucy, which are about people which gain control of more than 10% of their brains, in which the results are supposed to be drastic, like the ability to freeze time. Mahli is an amazing teacher. She helped me to learn Mandarin at a more precise level. Instead of just teaching me vocabulary, she taught me grammar rules and the tones that are crucial to the Chinese language. She would stay after school with me or meet up with me for around an hour every few days and we would go over things that I needed and/or wanted to know and she would help me with them and she would also critique my Chinese. Mahli studied abroad to China, so she knows the difficulties of learning Mandarin, so she is extra patient with you. She is really a great teacher and to anybody who would like some advice on Mandarin Chinese, I would certainly recommend talking to Mahli.

I used this website recently when working on a climate change project for Italy. Most of my time spent researching was at this site because it is very organized and has so much information. There are twenty subtopics that range from what is climate change to the impacts of climate change in Italy. The purpose of this website, even though it is called Climate Change in Italy is to speak to people throughout the world and inform them on the consequences of too much CO2. This site was very useful for me because there was a lot of information in each of the categories. The only drawback with this website is that it goes really in-depth, so if you want to know a specific thing about Italy Climate Change then you may want to choose a new source. The information is definitely reliable seeing as I have compared it to other sources and I would recommend this site to people who want to know about climate change in Italy or Europe in general. I used this source for a project and it was very useful, so I would suggest people who want to use it as well to use it specifically for research. This website helped me look at climate change on a smaller scale: Italy (it really zoned in on the specific climates in Italy).

I used this site for research on the concept of solarization, to consider the possibility of it effecting poison parsnip seeds, so that they could possibly be made ineffective by destruction using heat. This site discusses the effects solarization can have on soilborne pathogens, weeds, beneficial microbes, and plant nutrients. Many people seeking to rid their gardens or certain areas of weeds or invasive species choose to use this technique, as it is better for the soil, doesn't leave residual chemicals in the soil, and solarization actually helps the soil become more fertile and accommodating, so that beneficial microbes can repopulate quicker, and the nutrients the soil yields are better. The site also gives people a general idea of how long this process (solarization) can take, and how to carry it out: moisturized soil is cleared of debris, a tarp placed on top of the soil in a time of year where temperatures can superheat the soil, and then left for around 2-4 weeks to kill all plant life and bacteria/pathogens under the tarp, so the soil is left fertile. This technique reminds me of how farmers used to burn their crops to ensure more fertile soil and the plants growing back healthier. It shares the same idea, but unlike with fire, this technique doesn't damage the soil and takes less time for the plant life to recover. This is an interesting idea, and I had heard of solarization before I began studying it, but I never understood exactly what it was good for. I will be able to use this site, if only to study the effects of solarization and possibly draw a connection to poison parsnip. This is a reliable education site, and it will be helpful for something to consider while I write my experimental procedure and begin my experiment.

This VPR radio program visits the topic of emotion in animals. Virginia Morell is an animal researcher and author of the book "Animal Wise: The Thoughts and Emotions of Our Fellow Creatures." Morell studies the emotions of different animals and their means for communicating those emotions. The large topic of interest in this short VPR news special is about whether humans have a special connection with dogs. Morell's answer is yes, dogs and humans have a similar way of communicating with facial cues and body language which makes our two species somewhat appealing to one another. This helps my research a lot in that it brings out not only the similarities between K-9s and humans but also the mysterious draw of one animal to the other. Since the domesticated dog is so closely related to the wolf, it is true that wolves have similar body language, facial expression and social behavior tendencies. Morell speaks about her topic of expertise with great ease and it is fun to listen to because she is so smart.

This was a work that I used for an American Studies paper. It was about how women gained power during World War One, and how they expressed that power through writing. I was able to access this article through Ms. Burdett's JSTOR account, which was a very useful website because you had access to work that wasn't published on the broader internet and you could keep it all bookmarked together. I knew this was reliable because it was associated with a college, and the author used in-text citations so I could double check her sources if I wanted to. However, it was biased because the author was writing a persuasive piece. She started the work with a debatable thesis and gave evidence throughout the article to support it. This was one of the most challenging articles I've read because it was written at a college level, but the information was at a higher level as well. The author went very in-depth, and while the sheer amount of information was sometimes hard to sort through, it gave me better details in the end. The only drawback I would tell someone else who wanted to use this source was that it was on JSTOR, so I needed Ms. Burdett's password and permission whenever I wanted to use it.

It has helped me with French so much. When I was trying to translate my letter from English to French, this tool made it so much easier to just look up a word that I needed to know! It even gives you the conjugations, tenses, and any other forms of the word that you could possibly need to know! I'd highly recommend this resource to anyone learning a language or anyone who just wants to know how to say something in a different language.

Biology online is a website that helped me throughout the course of the second semester. Its main purpose is to provide definitions for Biology terms. Whenever I was confused about a term or topic we were covering in Biology this site helped me understand. It is useful because all the definitions are so easily accessible. This source is very reliable and in depth, it gives the same definitions that are in class notes. I would recommend this website, it has helped me with so many homework assignments and helped me study for tests. This source gives direct answers and spot on examples to help people get a better understanding of the overall topic.
