Mahli Knutson - 1 views

  •
Mahli is an amazing teacher. She helped me to learn Mandarin at a more precise level. Instead of just teaching me vocabulary, she taught me grammar rules and the tones that are crucial to the Chinese language. She would stay after school with me or meet up with me for around an hour every few days and we would go over things that I needed and/or wanted to know and she would help me with them and she would also critique my Chinese. Mahli studied abroad to China, so she knows the difficulties of learning Mandarin, so she is extra patient with you. She is really a great teacher and to anybody who would like some advice on Mandarin Chinese, I would certainly recommend talking to Mahli.

Group Facilitation - 0 views

  •
This website had some helpful tips on how to be a good facilitator of a group discussion. There were a few things I found particularly helpful. I liked what the article said about being the "pacemaker" of the meeting. This would entail making sure that the group was moving through the bullet points of the discussion at an appropriate rate. I also thought that the advice to critique the plausibility of an idea was helpful. Many times during my discussions with the Music Department officers I've run into these issues. The article gave advice on how to deal with problematic situations when in a group discussion. Overall, it was a very informative article.

Ten Steps to Writing an Essay - 0 views

  •
This is a great site for helping you with writing. I breaks down essays into all the necessary parts and gives you advice on how to be affective with your writing. It tells you everything from how to research properly, to making an outline and a thesis. This was helpful for me when we were assigned essays in English. The site prompted me to complete my essays before they were due so I wouldn't be rushed. This would be very applicable to classroom environments to help struggling and proficient students alike. I find this site extremely reliable because even though this is subjective information, the reservoir of information greatly improved my writing. I would recommend this to anyone who wishes to become a better writer.

Three-dimensional Character Questions - 1 views

  •
12/4/13 I found this article on how to make an actor become a three-dimensional character. The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts Dee Cannon shares the ten questions that actors need to investigate about their character to make them a fully-idealised person instead of just a character's dialogue with a visual of them. The ten questions and Cannon's advice on how to answer the questions through your character's point of view helped me to understand how professional actor's are able to become the character. A couple of the questions reminded me of what I talked about with Jen Allred about how to act my break-up scene in "A Christmas Carol" well. It also gave me other suggestions that I will use the next character I act.

How to Paint a Mural: Learn About Mural Supplies, Preparation and Mural Techniques - 0 views

  •
For this "How to Paint a Mural" site, I found a lot of helpful information about what materials are needed, what type of paint I should use (which I already knew from Ms. Cleary), and what techniques I could use to paint the mural. Even though they used specific brands as some examples of paint brands, this site also gave some examples overall. Besides all of the mural information, there was other drawing and painting advice that I might want to look at another time, including different media. This site seems interesting for people that are interested in art. Not only does this site have great information, it also isn't boring looking, and you can find what you are looking for. I'm glad I looked at this site even if I saw tips and information that I already knew.

How to Pick the Right Paintbrush - 0 views

  •
With such a large amount of different paint brushes that are now made these days, this website gave some great advice as to which kind of paintbrush I should use with which type of paint. Considering the type of bristles (or filaments) that the brush has, the width of the brush, even the bristle shape will make a difference in the painting. This site put a lot of information into a small article. Knowing what type of brush to use will help me a lot on the details of the mural that I'm making. All and all this site was quite nice and gave me even more information than I already knew.

Turn City Walls Into Your Canvas as a Muralist - 0 views

  •
Personally, I am not specifically looking for a career as a muralist, but for anyone that is, this site is great for helping you know what it's like and where to start. This site has a definition of mural and what a muralist does. Other types of careers are listed to the side because this site is not just focused on murals. Something else that is included on this site is the average salary that a muralist makes in a year. besides the subject of a career, the site did not have many other articles or information about murals or advice on how to make them. There were not many specifics in this article either. This website was not the best if you are looking how to make a mural, but it does give some of the supplies that are needed to do it, otherwise, I would not say this site is one of my favorite or relevant for me.

Stay calm during the admission process - 0 views

  •
This is an interesting article. It gives advice, but it also highlights the fact that students, especially seniors, should remain calm. Just because you do not get into your dream school does not mean your life will be over. And handling the bulk of work with a calm mind will help you produce better work, and ultimately a better application. How do most of you guys stay calm during the admission process?

General Information About Deer Farming | Deer Farming Articles | NADeFA - 0 views

  •
Starting a deer farm or ranch requires energy, innovation and much time spent in research. Once you have considered your options and decided what is right for you, visit established operations and talk to other deer owners who are raising the type of deer you are interested in. I just read a piece on the North American Deer Farmers Association or NADeFA website about general information on deer farming. The main points of this article are knowing the regulations, start up capital, plan, farm layout, fencing, building pens, nutrition, feeding program, herd structure, handling, health care, buying stock, and transportation. The purpose of this site is to give the average person who wants to know about deer farming or a someone who is new to deer farming, the general information needed to deer farm. Some topics or issues covered in this article were Land to live stock ratios, laws that someone would need to know, how to treat illnesses, and how to prepare the land for deer. This article is about the general information needed to deer farm. This source is very useful because of all the solid factual information. Compared to other sites I have used, this provides a good amount of writing and great details about each topic stated throughout this article. This information comes from a good reliable source used by deer farmers all throughout the us to talk with other farmers and to get information from the site itself. I would definitely recommend this site to anyone who wants to learn about deer farming. This site helped me learn a lot about deer farming and the general information you need to know to deer farm. This information made me realize that I want to learn a lot more about deer farming and possibly consider it as future a career. Someone could use this site/article for advice when starting a new deer farm or if someone just wants to know about deer farming in general. This article has made me want to focus one of my learning topics on deer farming.

Empower Mobility | Custom Mobile Apps for Apple iPhone, iPad, and other mobile platforms - 0 views

  •
While at the Vermont Tech Jam last Friday, Oct. 24th I spoke with several people who helped to point me in a positive direction regarding my possible career choices One person I spoke with is Tom Jaros from Empower Mobility. Empower Mobility is a custom app making company. Tom gave me great advice to help me with my own app making endeavors. He told me to start with simple things and work my way up. Another thing he told me was if I wanted to make Apple apps I needed to get an Apple computer. He told me to look for old versions of Mac computers so that I don't have to spend a fortune. I thought the things he told me where valuable points and I would consider asking him for an interview about the coding that are required for creating apps. I may have more to reflect on after asking him more questions and talking with him further. Tom sparked my interest with creating apps and I look forward to branching off into this field.
