Periodismo ciudadano versus Periodismo profesional: ¿somos todos periodistas?... - 2 views

A list of citizen science projects, apps & tools - 8 views

  •
I have gathered a large list of on-going citizen science projects and related tools which, I am sure, will benefit everybody interested in getting involved with hands-on science. Some of the projects in my list were mentioned in Clarkes' video lecture - I realize that some people were looking for references to those.

Hello! You have done a great job, very impressive. A couple of weeks ago I suggested and made a google spreadsheet in which everyone that wants to participate can add useful links to open knowledge resources. Would you like to drive this project with me? I would first ask you to add your links to the list and then we could look at tools in which we can make this interactive list look better, be more interactive and really make an onlile resource library. Please let me know what you think. What I do counts towards the final assesment and track, if we collaborate it could count for yours too, so you can benefit as well. I just feel like we could do more if we join forces. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lJ4GQpgdsFuELxmxb50WypzDq8-BLaAKL9OdKx8wBII/edit

Absolutely, this is a great idea - I will give it more thought tomorrow, but I am definately on board!

    Buen aporte. ----- Good contribution.
  •
Gracias por tu contribución. I liked it so much because of "Marine LitterWatch" because it is a really big problem in Mexico, it can be applied by government to clean the populated beaches, el Cañón del Sumidero or Sumidero Canyon, and to sensibilize people. Additional to that, the app can be used in big cities to decide where to colocate new tanks of rubbish.

libro verde de la ciencia ciudadana - 2 views

  •

Fair Dealing For Education - 1 views

Textbook Crisis - For using just a chapter from a book, I think this is a very good idea. I did not know teachers and professors could do this. I think this is very productive idea, instead of students or making students buy the whole book for a chapter.

Are Courses Outdated? MIT Considers Offering 'Modules' Instead - Wired Campus - Blogs -... - 3 views

  •
"People now buy songs, not albums. They read articles, not newspapers. So why not mix and match learning "modules" rather than lock into 12-week university courses?"
  •
@Kevin - thanks for sharing. I really share many of the sentiments of this article - but the modularisation of the curriculum also raise some interesting and possibly disturbing points. For example, our current diploma/degree structures are based on the premise that the final outcomes of a diploma or a degree is the result, inter alia, of the unique combination of a number of different courses/modules which, together, allow students to provide evidence of competency in all of the outcomes. While I sincerely think there is a place for just-in-time learning and short courses, and secondly, that the notion of a four-year degree may be outdated - I am wondering about the notion of the curriculum as journey.

Thank you sharing this! I think this is new and innovative idea. I wouldn't mind trying this kind of system at my school.

The unknowing of public knowledge - 4 views

"Even with abundant information and the removal of censorship, truth may not prevail. This the edited text of a plenary address to the IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Singapore, 20 August 2013. Journalists and librarians share a faith in the power of public knowledge, but the media are failing in their duty"
  •
I took this sentence from the article that I think is crucial: Public media must provide more than just "naked facts"; they must provide the resources for people to make judgments effectively.

The Social Library: How Public Libraries Are Using Social Media - 3 views

  •
Like many of you, I'm connected to the Internet virtually every waking hour of my day - via computer, tablet and mobile phone. Yet I still regularly visit my local public library, in order to borrow books, CDs and DVDs. Which made me wonder: are these two worlds disconnected, or is the Social Web being integrated into our public libraries? In…
