Considering digital identities, here's an interesting article over a new form of data privacy: our health. As health devices (i.e. smart watches) become more available and mainstream we should consider what type of data we want 'floating' around the internet such as our weights/BMIs or whatever other personal information the health device may obtain. This is one issue that the increase in technology and social communication has brought to us (not entirely a bad thing)…more personal data becoming easily accessible for advertisers.

Now that internet uses are finding themselves with several social networking profiles to manage, it is easy for all that content and information to become nothing more than noise; pointless chatter that takes up vital brain cells and gets in the way of important details.

Although I am not very keen on reading fiction electronically, the article was very interesting and informative about the latest tendencies in electronic publishing.
I am one of those people who like reading books electronically and enjoy it. Kindle has been around for some years now but we still have books publshed in paper format. There is still a number of people who prefare to have paper copy of a book. Books are here to stay. I have a kindle but I hardly ever use the devise. I use the app on my mobile, computer or Ipad.
In this article, Newman states that smartphones are prominent on campus nowadays. According to the survey that he has mentioned in the article, there are 59% of Tam students own smartphones; and 61% of them think that smartphones do waste their time even though there are 81% of them think that smartphones have made their life easier. Thus is, although most of the smartphone users believe that smartphones do bring them lots of convenience in life, most of them also agrees that smartphone are wasting their time in life especially in users always spend too much time on the smartphone apps and some of them think that smartphones have put a hindrance to human communication as it mentions in the article that "smartphones put a wall between people and the emotions they have". I feel like using smartphone is kinda of a trend in university right now. People can use their phone to search, download and read articles through the phone. Finding a balance with yourself and technoloy is important, however finding a balance for the publisher and technology is also important as knowledge has been quite open access to people on the internet right now.
