EFRI Research Experience and Mentoring (REM) Program| NSF - 0 views

    The REM program supports the active involvement of research participants: high school students, STEM teachers, undergraduate STEM students, faculty, and veterans, in hands-on research in order to bring this rich research experience and contact with suitable STEM mentors into participants' lives. The main goals of the REM program are to provide research experiences and mentoring opportunities to STEM students and/or educators that may ultimately enhance their career and academic trajectories while enhancing EFRI-supported research. The REM program may also enable the building of long-term collaborative partnerships among EFRI-supported researchers, the NSF university research community, and local school districts.

Legal Education Diversity Pipeline Grant Program | AccessLex - 0 views

    The Access Group Center for Research & Policy Analysis conducts research and provides grants that address some of the most critical issues facing legal education today, including enhancing access to legal education for students from diverse backgrounds; increasing the affordability and financing options for students pursuing legal education; and expanding the value and relevance of legal education. To that end, the center's Legal Education Diversity Pipeline Grant Program awards grants of up to $125,000 to current or proposed programs that provide effective interventions designed to enhance access to legal education for students from diverse backgrounds, specifically historically underrepresented minority students and students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Projects should address the issue of enhanced access to legal education at the national level, or encompass more localized efforts that might be efficiently scaled across institutions and regions for greater impact. Applications from programs that display a collaborative approach and strong partnerships with other organizations are encouraged.

    The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH.  The over-arching goal of this NIDDK R25 program is to support educational activities that enhance the diversity of the biomedical, behavioral and clinical research workforce.  This R25 program encourages Professional Societies to design and implement educational programs with the goal of recruiting of individuals from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue careers in the biomedical, behavioral, clinical, and social sciences workforce. Applications from Professional Societies supporting the NIDDK mission areas are encouraged to develop educational programs aimed at recruiting talented , fellows, and junior faculty from groups underrepresented in biomedical, behavioral, clinical, and social sciences research in the NIDDK mission areas. Professional Societies should propose an educational program based upon an educational experiment which includes a diversity management plan for the Society which should enhance the diversity of the biomedical research workforce, and the pool of individuals from under represented groups in the organization's programs and leadership.

    The Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC) Undergraduate Student Training in Academic Research (U-STAR) program is designed to provide structured training programs to prepare high-achieving, underrepresented students for doctoral programs in biomedical research fields. Programmatic activities should include authentic research experiences, academic enhancements, skills development, and mentoring. Institutions eligible for MARC U-STAR grants are those with significant enrollments of honors students from groups underrepresented in the biomedical sciences. Colgate-Palmolive Award for Student Research Training in Alternative Methods - 0 views

    The purpose of the Colgate-Palmolive Award for Student Research Training in Alternative Methods is to enhance graduate student research training using in vitro methods or alternative techniques to reduce, replace or refine use of animals in toxicological research. The training may include, but is not limited to, use of in vitro and ex vivo procedures, nonmammalian animal models, computer modeling, and structure-activity relationships. Graduate students may propose to develop expertise in relevant methodologies 1) at a laboratory away from their home institution, 2) at a laboratory at their home institution that would not be available to them otherwise, or 3) at approved workshops, symposia or continuing education programs where hands-on training will be received. The training should help toxicology graduate students enhance their thesis or dissertation research. The overall goal is to support the replacement, reduction, or refinement of currently used animal models in toxicology research and testing. The proposal will include a budget of up to $3,750 to defray travel, per diem, training expenses, and research costs.

The NCAA Innovations in Research and Practice Grant Program supports research and data-driven pilot programs designed to enhance student-athlete psychosocial well-being and mental health. In 2018, the program will award grants of up to $25,000 in grants to member institutions that are piloting on-campus programs designed to enhance the well-being of NCAA student-athletes. Potential topics include but are not limited to managing transitions (e.g., from recruit to first-year student; transferring between universities; adapting from youth sports to a college sports environment; developing independence from parents), identity development, stress management, substance use, bystander intervention, cultivating healthy relationships, career exploration, and sport exit strategies. Grant recipients will be invited to present their pilot programs to hundreds of key stakeholders in intercollegiate athletics in January 2019 at the NCAA Convention in Orlando, Florida. To be eligible, project directors must be affiliated with an NCAA institution. Interdisciplinary proposals bringing together athletics department administrators, coaches, student affairs practitioners, and faculty are strongly encouraged.

    We are currently seeking two graduate interns to work closely with editors and other staff of the Civil War Governors of Kentucky Digital Documentary Edition (CWG-K). Through this competitive internship opportunity, successful candidates will learn the basic principles of documentary editing; assist in the identification, data collection, scanning, processing and transcription of manuscript documents; and gain expertise in the use of the CWG-K project document control-and-editorial-management application. As time allows, interns may have the opportunity to learn, acquire and exercise additional skills associated with documentary editing. The overall goal of the internship is to provide a high-quality, supervised professional practicum that introduces second-year and advanced American history graduate students to the field of documentary editing in order to enhance their education and future employability. Participating graduate students will gain a broad understanding of the goals of, planning for and skills necessary to undertake large documentary-editing projects, as well as what is involved in their daily operations. The internship will consist of 250 hours over the course of 10 weeks. This is a temporary position, with stipend, based in Frankfort, Ky. Employee benefits are not available. Housing is not provided.
