The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation New Careers in Nursing is a scholarship program to help alleviate the nursing shortage and increase the diversity of nursing professionals. Through grants to schools of nursing, the program provides scholarships to college graduates without nursing degrees who are enrolled in accelerated baccalaureate and master's nursing programs.

he purpose of the NAT award is to provide traineeship support for licensed registered nurses enrolled as full-time students in an accredited graduate-level nurse anesthesia program.  Traineeship grants are awarded to accredited institutions that educate registered nurses to become nurse anesthetists and gives funding preference and special consideration to schools whose graduates work in areas that address rural, underserved and public health nursing needs. 

To provide scholarships to individuals who are interested in and committed to oncology nursing and pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing. The Nurse in Washington Internship (NIWI) Program is an annual event sponsored by the Nursing Organizations Alliance (The Alliance) and the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) is one of the participating organizations. The next NIWI Program is scheduled to be held March 15-17, 2015, in Arlington, Virginia (across the river from Washington DC). The Alliance sponsors the internship to promote the interests of its member groups through education, research, and health-policy activities. Over the years, more than one thousand nurses have attended NIWI, many of whom have become influential participants in the political process at state and federal levels. Deadline to apply is November 1, 2014.

The Uniform Advantage-GNSA Scholarship Fund supports students who are seeking a master's or doctoral degree in nursing and are members of the Graduate Nursing Student Academy. The purpose of this scholarship is to support graduate nursing education and continue to positively impact the future of healthcare

This scholarship recognizes the outstanding work of graduate nursing students who are advancing the nursing profession through a commitment to innovation, leadership, and/or mentoring.

These scholarships are available to AANP members currently enrolled in an accredited graduate school in pursuit of an advanced degree or certification AND scheduled to complete an eligible NP program in spring 2015. Applicants must be licensed as a registered nurse. Students may receive up to $2,500 in scholarships. Only completed applications will be accepted and reviewed.

Malawi faces chronic shortages, skill mix imbalances, and uneven geographical distribution of professionally qualified health workers such as medical doctors, clinical officers, nurse midwives, and allied health professionals. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to provide technical assistance (TA) to the Government of Malawi in support of the national HIV response through the secondment of technical assistance (Technical assistants recruited and posted to requesting institutions to continue support to the HIV program (TA positions for Care and Treatment, Logistics and Supply Chain, Monitoring and Evaluation)) to the Ministry of Health (MOH) and other organizations, implementation of a fellowship program to develop technical and leadership capacity for HIV program management, provision of technical assistance to regulatory bodies (Medical Council of Malawi, Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi and Pharmacy Medicines and Poisons Board), and improvement of the quality of in-service and pre-service education for critical health worker cadres in collaboration with Ministry of Health and training institutions under the University of Malawi and the Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM). Key outcomes of this program include the development and dissemination of technical guidelines, teaching materials, and tools for curricula strengthening. Teaching sites will be appropriately equipped and staffed. Capacity gaps in national programs will be addressed through the recruitment and deployment of technical assistants & fellows. In addition, the roles of regulatory bodies in education will be strengthened through the provision of technical assistance

The Ohio Affiliate of  Prevent Blindness is accepting applications for its 2018 Young Investigator Student Fellowship Awards for Female Scholars in Vision Research. The Fellowship Program is designed to provide support for outstanding female scientists committed to pursuing biomedical, behavioral or clinical research careers relevant to the mission of Prevent Blindness - to prevent blindness and preserve sight.  Grants will be awarded for the summer 2018 session.  Awards will range from $3000-$5000 depending upon the availability of funds. The deadline for receipt of applications is Feb. 15, 2018. Applicants must be post-baccalaureate students enrolled in a master's or doctorate program during the summer of 2018, female, citizens or permanent residents of the United States, and conducting their research with a recognized academic institution in the State of Ohio. Applications from diverse fields in the health sciences including, but not limited to ophthalmology, optometry, nursing, genetics, public health, nutrition, gerontology, and bioengineering, are appropriate to the goals of this fellowship award. The Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness encourages fellowship applications which investigate public health issues related to the burden of eye-related health and safety topics.

The Lung Cancer Research Foundation supports research on innovative strategies for better treatments, screening, and prevention of all cancers of the lung. The foundation's goal is to fund promising scientific and clinical research initiatives that lead to more positive outcomes and improved quality of life for all lung cancer patients.   To that end, LCRF has issued a Request for Proposals designed to provide critical seed support for cutting-edge scientific research on all lung cancers. Through its Research Grant program, the foundation will support projects with a focus on basic science, translational research, clinical research, supportive care, and quality of care/outcomes.   Grants of up to $75,000 will be awarded.   The program is open to all U.S. and international investigators, including graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, physicians, medical students, and nurse researchers.

The ISTSS Student Research Grant (SRG) provides two $1,000 grants to ISTSS student members who submit proposals judged to have the greatest potential to contribute to the field of traumatic stress.

The purpose of the Kirschstein-NRSA predoctoral fellowship (F31) award is to enable promising predoctoral students to obtain individualized, mentored research training from outstanding faculty sponsors while conducting dissertation research in scientific health-related fields relevant to the missions of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers. The proposed mentored research training must reflect the applicants dissertation research project and is expected to clearly enhance the individuals potential to develop into a productive, independent research scientist.

With more than fifty thousand members and certified professionals from ninety countries around the globe, the American College of Sports Medicine represents seventy occupations within the field of sports medicine. From academicians to students and from personal trainers to physicians, ACSM is dedicated to helping people worldwide live longer, healthier lives. To advance this mission, the association established the Research Grant Program through the ACSM Foundation, its charitable arm, in 1989. Through the program, grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to support basic and applied research in exercise science. Funding is primarily targeted to new or junior investigators within seven years of attaining a terminal degree (e.g., PhD, EdD) and is expected to provide seed money support after which further funding would be sought from other sources. The Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Fellowship for Students at Institutions Without NIH-Funded Institutional Predoctoral Dual-Degree Training Programs (Parent F30) award will support students at institutions without formal NIH-funded institutional predoctoral dual-degree training programs. The purpose of this FOA is to enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising predoctoral students, who are matriculated in a combined MD/PhD or other dual-doctoral degree training program (e.g., DO/PhD, DDS/PhD, AuD/PhD, DVM/PhD), and who intend careers as physician/clinician-scientists. Applicants must propose an integrated research and clinical training plan and a dissertation research project in scientific health-related fields relevant to the missions of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers. The fellowship experience is expected to clearly enhance the individuals' potential to develop into a productive, independent physician/clinician-scientist. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is designed specifically for applicants proposing research that does not involve leading an independent clinical trial, a clinical trial feasibility study, or an ancillary study to a clinical trial, but does allow applicants to propose research experience in a clinical trial led by a sponsor or co-sponsor.
