The Security and Preparedness (SAP) Programsupports basic scientific research that advances knowledge and understanding of issues broadly related to global and national security. Research proposals are evaluated on the criteria of intellectual merit and broader impacts; the proposed projects are expected to be theoretically motivated, conceptually precise, methodologically rigorous, and empirically oriented. Substantive areas include (but are not limited to) international relations, global and national security, human security,political violence, state stability, conflict processes, regime transition, international and comparative political economy, and peace science. Moreover, the Program supports research experiences for undergraduate students and infrastructural activities, including methodological innovations. Through the program, grants will be awarded in support of projects that create and disseminate specialized knowledge, including archival projects, development and dissemination of scholarly databases, documentation projects, museum exhibitions and publications, photographic campaigns, scholarly catalogs and publications, and technical and scientific studies. The U.S. Embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia announces this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for Slovenian cultural institutions and civil society organizations. Globally there is insufficient capacity to adequately prevent, detect and respond to public health issues. Field epidemiology networks have been assisting countries with developing and strengthening their public health workforce and are essential to strengthening health systems worldwide and achieving global public health objectives. The overall purpose of this five year activity is to strengthen outcome measurements, learning and accountability systems in order to provide quality data and synthesized information for planning, implementation, policy development and decision making. This should be achieved through working with county governments and other development partners. The activity should work within the county health sector's coordination framework at the focal counties to ensure that it promotes rational and harmonized support that takes into account other donor support towards the strengthening of outcome measurements, learning and accountability systems.

The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement (PM/WRA) is pleased to invite eligible organizations to submit cooperative agreement applications for a small arms and light weapons (SA/LW) destruction, physical stockpile and security management (PSSM) upgrades, and associated training program in Guatemala during fiscal year 2017. PM/WRA is inviting eligible organizations to submit applications for open source data collection projects focused on identifying instances of small arms and light weapons and conventional ammunition being illicitly diverted from state-controlled stocks in Central and South America, North Africa/the Maghreb, West Africa, the Sahel, East Africa, the Balkans, Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine outside of contested areas, and the Philippines and producing weekly reports summarizing the cases.
