Our students want to be creative, collaborate, utilize technology for learning, connect with their peers in other countries, understand the messages that media convey, and solve real-world problems.  Schools and systems of education that do not embrace digital learning and place a high emphasis on standardization will always fail to resonate with our students

The Internet connects us in unprecedented ways. To prepare students to flourish in this new learning world, schools will need to transform themselves in important ways. This book is a road map for any educator thinking about using the web for learning. Build your own learning network, and use learning networks in the classroom and schoolwide to improve student outcomes.

For the last two weeks, I've been engaged in a very interesting experiment. Five faculty members from the Fashion and Apparel department have agreed to explore social media for personal productivity, professional development, curriculum redesign, and program promotion.

Thanks Mathieu for sharing the presentation with me so I can catch up with the rest of the class. It's going to be a very useful learning process. I also think your presentation to FASH 325 would be good to give to students earlier in their UD career. I was thinking about FASH 210, a course on FASH sustainability and business ethics in the Fashion Industry. These sessions will make us more sustainable!

Thanks Martha. I think you're right that students need to be exposed earlier to this, but I also think that we could chunk the session up in little parts, where I wouldn't necessarily need to be directly involved.

 I am constantly advocating for other school leaders and educators to embrace this powerful tool to improve communications, enhance public relations, establish a positive brand presence, grow professionally through the formation of a Personal Learning Network (PLN), increase student engagement, and discover a world of opportunity.

These free or low-cost education services confer the direct benefit of their programs, and advantages by using the large numbers and real-time aspects of the internet to obtain and incorporate immediate feedback from growing student populations. This is leading to a better education product, and a mechanism for learning about learning.

This presentation is part information management, part online persona, and part marketing. It's intended to be an overview of what 21st century graduates should be aware of in terms of online behaviors and trends.
