The American Composers Forum BandQuest program brings some of the best living composers together to write music for school wind bands. Many works in the series incorporate a cross curricular element that connects to disciplines outside of music. 

This page includes links to each of the individual Music Theory pages I've created in PDF form. This is a work in progress; I am writing new ones regularly and fixing errors and omissions on existing ones as I find them. The Music and Sound Design Platform is a new approach to making electronic and electro-acoustic music. Music_SDP uses many of the same tools and processes that are found in your favorite music software, but introduces a new paradigm for exploring sounds, performing songs, and writing electro-acoustic compositions.

Article written to support the use of technology to compliment instruction and enhance student learning instead of technology for technology sake. Teachers should use social media cites, e.g., blogs, to facilitate discussion and feedback from students, create online PLNs. The cross curricular benefit is increasing writing facility and literacy. A couple of concerns are cyberbullying and parents who may question how much learning is taking place with social media. Educators can help others, including students, understand that music learning can take place outside of the classroom through social media and broaden the audience.

Ars Nova is a music software publisher that offers a number of excellent resources to sharpen one's proficiency in theory, part-writing, and counterpoint. Their software can be useful tools to recommend to advanced high school/undergrad students.

This purpose of the website it to assist music educators with thriving inside and outside for the classroom and grant writing. The website is a unique resource because its focus in on how to the music educator performance is affected by self-care. Attention is on the music educator to develop into a better teacher without burning out in the process.

Understanding by Design Framework is an essential resource when writing and creating curriculum, assessment, and instruction. The stages are explained as well as examples given for each stage. Questions are also asked/given at the end of the article and other resources are listed as well.

Music Education Works is a website that promotes music as a necessity for all students. The website lists the benefits of music education and provides appropriate learning and scholarly writing that backs music education as a tool for all ages. The website provides information about music in and outside of school. The main goal of the website is to promote and share the benefits of music education.

This website allows music educators to post and collaborate with other educators on their ideas and methods. The content focuses on teaching strategies, music technology programs, reading material for the integration of technology into the music classroom, and articles on continuing education.

This website was developed by music education and technology experts Dr. Joseph M. Pisano and Amy M. Burns. It includes blog posts from both educators, and discusses ideas for incorporating technology into elementary and secondary classrooms. Available music technology, software, and freeware resources are listed. Also included are examples of how this technology is used by children in their classrooms.

This website is a blog focus on the integration of technology in the music classroom. It appears to be a great resource to compliment the topics we have discussed in this course.

Some great tips for teaching songwriting on this teaching post. The post includes a detailed lesson plan with a step-by-step sequence. The lesson includes brainstorming tips, lyric writing, rhyming, and music composition. It also suggests incorporating technology to record and playback your collaborative creations.

This article is geared towards the non-music classroom but has much to offer to the music educator. Music teachers could incorporate the suggestions for songwriting into their own lessons. Ever more, they could use this resource as an example and a guide to collaborate with core subject areas engaging in cross-curricular instruction.

This is a website on using a Smart board in a band/ music class.

The purpose of this page is to provide a Whiteboard resource with 10 excellent ways to incorporate the IWB into music lessons. Several of these ideas were new to me and I look forward to exploring them in my classroom.

This article describes ways to use an interactive whiteboard for music learning. Many of the ideas may be best suited for a general music classroom but can also be incorporated into rehearsal settings. IWBs can be used to teaching the reading and writing of music notation. They can also be used to teach music form and history, and interactive lessons with video, power points, and games. IWBs help engage many learning styles at once and keep students engaged.

After reading about this in chapter 5 this week, I want to use this project with my students.  They can create this page for a composer and include pictures, quotes, his/her contemporaries and recordings.

This website allows users to create fake facebook profiles. This is a great tool to get students interested in sharing information they have learned about historical figures. This site could be used to share information on composers, choreographers, musicians, etc. There is also a database of profiles of various figures throughout history.
