The diverse wealth of resources available here are sure to be helpful in every kindergarten through 8th grade music class.

This 100 Years of Rock link contains a chronological display of how popular music has evolved. It provides listening examples for dozens of American genres of music, from rock to country, blues, pop, and countless other sub-genres. This link would make for interesting conversation with a History of Rock N' Roll class or classes about American music. I especially enjoyed the listening examples because they give evidence to how much culture has influenced the different styles of American popular music. I feel that students would very much enjoy this link because the listening examples cater to their interests, especially as the viewer scrolls toward the bottom of the page.

This site has some great resources for ukulele and guitar learning in the classroom. These are free. The powerpoints are especially great because it is a step by step lesson to get students to play their instruments as quickly as possible (including little excerpts of songs in a different key). The rest of the site provides "easy" versions of popular songs for students to begin playing quickly. It was given to me in a conference session about using popular music to teach ukulele and guitar.

This site is a great resource to help students get into the minds of their favorite pop artists. Students often find it easier to connect to pop tunes than to classical music. This site provides a list of different pop tunes/artists along with descriptions about those pieces and artists. This helps students realize the thought behind creating music, which they can then transfer to their school music class. This site also includes blogs about songwriter interviews, quizzes, and song facts to name a few. The featured songs fall into the category "daily top ten" or "weekyl top ten," keeping the songs up-to-date and easy for young students to recognize/connect with.

It has links to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google+, and Pinterest on the homepage, making sharing and communicating accessible upon first glance. As an educator, I see this page as being best used in private practice. Being able to provide students with some of the featured videos like "Recommended Trombone Solos and Recordings" or "Audio Software For The Classroom Or Home Recording Studio" seem like links that would be best used for people that are more interested in personal, one-on-one study and creation of music. However, I could see these links being used in a general setting as well, like ensemble practice or music tech classes.

There is sheet music for levels ranging from 1 (easy) to 5 (most advanced). The score arrangements appear to be suitable for beginners. The arrangements also make it an easy transition for when students are ready to learn to original scores.
