Classic Cat is a resource website that provides educators and students with access to recordings of multiple classical music works.

ClassicCat is a website featuring free use MP3's of over a hundred different composers. These mp3's are available to anyone who clicks can play the files on their computer. This is a great resource not only for instrumental and choral capabilities, but for general music classes that need material for listening or comparison.

This website presents a colorful presentation of music theory basics including notation, rhythm, key signatures, intervals, minor scales, part writing, seventh chords, and augmented chords. Each page can be printed.

Music Theory is a topic that can often be confusing when beginning to learn.  This website does a great job of breaking down the elements of music theory for anyone who is trying to gain deeper understanding of Music Theory.

This website is great for quick music theory handouts for students. It contains PDF worksheets to print and share with students. Excellent free resource!

This page has posted audio files of all of the North Carolina All-State Solos each year. It is updated each fall to provide the appropriate solo for students and teachers to listen to for reference. By looking at the All-State Solo List linked on this page, a teacher can find the name of each solo and use these resources for music listening projects, or modeling examples.

Audacity is an audio editing tool used to alter recordings and export them into various formats. Used as an educational tool students are able to record, edit, and add digital effects to recordings to remix or compose creative musical products. Music educators may also find it valuable for editing recordings of performances or demonstrating the properties of sound. This book is a music education wiki focusing on music education with digital technology. Information in this book unfolds how teachers use technology in music classrooms, the pros and cons of technology, and how to effectively use technology in the classroom. One fascinating information I picked from this book is the use of classroom mobile phones. Almost every student in high school has access to a mobile phone. These mobile phones have a new software called "blue tooth" which enables one to share a file from a phone to a computer or to another person's phone. This tool can be utilised in class during composition, for students to share their compositions and get feedback from each other. These compositions can then be sent to a computer and students edit their compositions using soft wares like Audacity.

A software tool to create visual 'bubble' maps representing the musical form of user provided audio files in mp3, wav, or m4a formats. This is the software that I reviewed for Module 5, and it just works for the purpose it was created. Educational and at the same time just plain fun to play around with!

This article provides several ways to integrate technology in the music classroom. To aid in administrating, the article suggests Google Drive using Google Docs and Google Forms. I personally am a huge fan of Google Classroom. The article also provides software such as SmartMusic for instructional use.

This website offers several different resources that any band director could find useful. The blogs section has a variety of posts detailing the experiences of other educators as well as the different techniques they employ in their classes. It also has a section for materials and different .pdf files that can be used as helpful resources for lesson plans.

One of the original titles of music notation software. Finale was first available in the late 1980's and has been in constant development ever since. The software is available in 3 service levels: Finale, Printmusic, and Notepad. Notepad is a free version and only offers limited features. The full version of Finale has full capability to produce professional-looking scores and is also capable of exporting audio and MIDI files. Finale also comes bundled with Garritan Aria player VST and a decent-sounding instrument pack. Finale also features educational worksheets and templates which are very useful for teachers.

Resource for UF Masters in Music Education. Google classroom has become an incredible resource for me. I didn't fully understand the potential that the program offers but it truly takes a lot of administrative work off my desk. Google Forms will create student progress spread sheets. Students can record an mp3 file of themselves through a program like GarageBand and submit to the classroom for assessment. I can add lectures and resources to my class to allow them to study for written exams.

A cloud-based DAW, free and easy to use. It is very similar to GarageBand, and users with little music knowledge can easily create quality compositions by dragging and dropping loops. Users can compose music, record live instruments and voice tracks, use MIDI controllers, and export projects to many known file types.

Soundtrap is a browser-based DAW that allows users to create and collaborate compositions or podcasts. Soundtrap offers a paid subscription allowing teachers to setup a private classroom and monitor/grade/comment on their students work. This DAW can be used for a plethora of creative tasks in music. It's primary affordance is that it is browser-based and compositions are saved via cloud storage.

Soundtrap is a free, cloud-based DAW, with a library of looped sounds and the ability to enter new audio. Users can also easily collaborate with others, and the program can be accessed via computer, tablet, or cell phone. It provides a user-friendly experience that music students can work with to express creativity through composition.

This website has a bunch of resources! They have free, downloadable files like beginning of the year checklists. They also post a lot of instrument specific articles, like proper techniques and how to teach them.

For Bach aficionados like myself, this website literally has it all. You can find excerpts from all chorale motives utilized by Bach in his major works, cross-referenced and indexed. There's a list of the full church year and links to external recordings and files of his music. A must-visit site, which can be great for student music history projects!

Great resource for introducing young students to the instrument families. Provides a picture and sound file for many of the instruments in each family. along with a short description of the family.

For teachers with a SmartBoard, this website gives free music games for use in the classroom.  Most of these games are appropriate for K-5 and cover a variety of music topics.  Intervals, pitch discrimination, listening, and basic music theory are the topics covered in these games.

I'll definitely have to explore these games on my own before taking them into the classroom. So far, some of them seem pretty advanced for my students. I also am not sure about how to play many of the games because of lack of directions. 

A collection of SmartBoard apps for use in a general music classroom setting. Focus is on beginner music theory with such topics as pitch discrimination, basic scales and song structure. Files are Flash-based and can be used on a SmartBoard seamlessly.

From these resources, you can learn how to record songs, use loops, create beats, create and publish podcasts and share MP3 files from Garageband. These online classes and tutorials provide step-by-step, easy to follow instructions for beginners.

This website hosts over 9,000 choral/vocal scores, texts, translations and other useful information. This is a fantastic resource for choral directors to browse and select music from.

Purpose of this resource: This webpage contains downloadable choral music that is in the public domain. Musical Content: The Choral Public Domain Library contains digital downloads (sheet music, midi files, and notation files) for choral works that are in the public domain. There is a large selection, and CPDL offers useful search features such as listing all musical settings of a text, searching by language, type of piece, and by musical era. Other information: This is a good resource for directors who do not have large music budgets, are looking to find different settings of specific texts, or are looking for music from a specific time period.
