The digital audio workstation has become a mainstay for music production because of both the software's accessible, yet ultra-powerful interface, which can be used by both novices, all the way to studio professionals.

This software is a big production, and is something that i use a lot personally. This software will give you the ability to do anything you may need to do. The purpose of this resource would be to show more advanced student more features on how to create, record, mix, and master. This is a more in depth software for more professional users. This would be a software that i would use to implement with more advanced students, who have used other software's.

Emile for creating rhythm slideshows for students to practice with.

This is an online space where you can hear what you type, played by a variety of sounds. This program is fun to experiment with and one can create a variety of patterns, and share as well.

MusicFirst suggests this LMS comprehensive aural theory software designed for grades K-12 and beyond. Since it was created in 1990, it has been monitor and enhanced to provide a tool for educators and students. It is cloud-based, supported by educators with decades of knowledge and skill in integrating technology into the music classroom. Auralia promotes student ownership of learning through the appropriately paced lessons and exams which provide immediate formative feedback.

Isle of Tune is a website (and app for iOS) that allows students to create an island with sound producing plants, houses, and other objects. As cars drive on the island, a melody or beat is produced based on where the objects are located and what these objects are. Resource for UF Masters in Music Education. Google classroom has become an incredible resource for me. I didn't fully understand the potential that the program offers but it truly takes a lot of administrative work off my desk. Google Forms will create student progress spread sheets. Students can record an mp3 file of themselves through a program like GarageBand and submit to the classroom for assessment. I can add lectures and resources to my class to allow them to study for written exams.

The 2014 Music Standards are the new standards to follow and are available through the National Association for Music Education Music Standards (NAfME). There are links available to the various standards which include PK-8 General Music, Composition/Theory, Music Technology, Guitar/Keyboard/Harmonizing Instruments, and Ensemble. Included with the standards are the categories of create, perform, respond, and connect. There are also links to a glossary and enduring understanding, essential questions, and definitions about the new standards.

Amazing resource for lesson plans, worksheets, and games to teach students about a wide variety of music topics. This website would be great for creating lesson plans for subs and would also be a great resource if you can't find printed worksheets that address theory. The games are also fun and educational, asking students to identify instruments, tempos, etc. and can act as quizzes that can be scored and printed out. Great resource!

Music Tech Teacher is an open resource offered by Karen Garrett as an extension of her own music classes she had previously been teaching. Ms. Garrett offers free lessons, worksheets and assessments that can be downloaded as .pdfs and used by any teachers looking for materials that could be used within their own classrooms. Ms. Garrett's resources also have a strong focus on teachers looking to specifically make use of technology in their classes.

This website offers an abundance of music you can order for your performing groups, soloists, mixed ensembles, etc. There a variety of way to search for specific types of music such as "Holiday", "Classical", "Sacred", etc. J.W. Pepper has a wide collection from well known publishers. This is my go to choice for when it comes to ordering music for my program. You also have the ability to narrow your search down by grade level which makes it very easy when planning your program.

J. W. Pepper is an excellent website/resource for sheet music, accompaniment tracks, and much more. Their customer service is excellent. Many of the songs have a play feature so you can listen easily. You can search by genre, voicing, holiday, and pretty much any other category to find exactly the right song for your students.

J.W. Pepper is an online retailer for sheet music. They sell all kinds of music, from solo parts to full band parts. Most of the music they sell also has a demo track so the music can heard before a purchase is made.

Created by the people of Jazz at Lincoln Center, this site is dedicated to spreading jazz education to every school in the country. Jazz Academy has a few different programs, some of which cost money. However, Essentially Ellington is free and member directors get access to a number of resources and free Duke Ellington charts, some of which are accessible at the middle school level.

This site was created to assist bassoon players in learning their instruments as well as a resource for educators. A student has access to 50 different units, covering pitches and basic techniques. Like a digital method book, the creator provides audio clips to perform along with as well as videos to introduce key techniques like key flicking.

Understanding by Design Framework is an essential resource when writing and creating curriculum, assessment, and instruction. The stages are explained as well as examples given for each stage. Questions are also asked/given at the end of the article and other resources are listed as well.

Flat is a cloud-based online music notation software. This is another alternative to Finale Notepad, MuseScore, and Noteflight.

FLAT is essentially Google's attempt at notation software. Thus, it is extremely intuitive. Though more limited than other programs, it essentially does everything a student composer would need. Students can sign up for an account with a Gmail address and can easily share their scores with each other and their teacher.

Music notation softwares like Finale and Sibelius are quite costly for students to purchase and use. Flat.io is a free online music notation software that allows you to notate music online, and share it with your friends in the cloud. It is collaborative in a way that people get to comment on your music, and you also get to comment on other people's compositions. All you need is to sign up with either google, facebook, or with your email address. It is a good resource for teachers to set notation assignments, and while students do the assignments, they learn many concepts in music such as tempo, speed, dynamics, phrasing, structure, to mention but a few.
