"Microsoft has pulled its latest Windows 10 update offline after some users complained of missing files. It's the latest in a string of incidents with regular patches and Microsoft's larger Windows 10 updates that have been causing issues for some PC users this year. While Microsoft tests Windows 10 with millions of beta testers, there are signs that this public feedback loop isn't always working. Earlier this year Microsoft delayed its April 2018 Windows 10 update due to last minute Blue Screen of Death issues, and then had to fix desktop and Chrome freezing issues after it was shipped to more than 600 million machines. "

"The new malware, called Anubis, seems to use code forked from Loki. It steals crypto wallet credentials, credit card details and other valuable information from these Windows users. According to MSI, it first discovered the malware in June in the cybercriminal underground. It has the same name with another potent banking Trojan that has been targeting Android smartphones for months."

"Cybercriminals are targeting people using Apple products as they are more likely to have disposable income, a security expert has warned. Blogger Graham Cluley said that while malware was more common on Windows, Apple customers could not "afford to be lackadaisical" about security. On Monday, he reported a text message scam that tried to trick people into handing over account information. Apple's support site warns customers not to enter details on spoof sites."

Yikes - definitely a wakeup call?

Recently at CES, Mr.Ballmer over-excitingly shows the Slate-PC which is a tablet with a screen on it which has the power to actually run their latest operating system, Windows 7. 

Apple is slowly becoming a dangerous competitor again Microsoft, but the Windows operating systems still dominate the business world. What does this mean for Apple?

Be careful of articles like these as they are really dealing with business but not in terms of the technology or a social and ethical issue. Equality of access for these businesses is only a by product - unlike for something like the OLPC where it was the main issue...

"Halifax's system, which is currently at the proof-of-concept stage, uses a piece of wearable technology known as the Nymi band; it monitors and stores a user's heartbeat via an electrocardiogram (ECG). "Petya ransomware victims can now unlock infected computers without paying. An unidentified programmer has produced a tool that exploits shortfalls in the way the malware encrypts a file that allows Windows to start up. In notes put on code-sharing site Github, he said he had produced the key generator to help his father-in-law unlock his Petya-encrypted computer."

To protect the privacy of the person access to the information will be compartmentalized and restricted so some tax officials for example cannot access the health records of a person. A key component of digital ID is collecting the biometric details of people like eyes and all finger prints for verification and security."
