"Sixty years after her death, Édith Piaf's voice will be re-created using AI to narrate her biopic. As reported by Variety, Warner Music Group (WMG) has partnered with the Piaf estate to produce the feature-length film Edith. Artificial intelligence has been trained to replicate Piaf's voice by feeding it hundreds of voice clips, with WMG promising the resultant re-creation will "further enhance the authenticity and emotional impact of her story"."

"This week, the tech giant announced it had begun rolling out automatic encryption for direct messages on its Facebook and Messenger platforms to more than 1 billion users. Under the changes, Meta will no longer have access to the contents of the messages that users send or receive unless one participant reports a message to the company. As a result, messages will not be subject to content moderation unless reported, which social media companies undertake to detect and report abusive and criminal activity. Encryption hides the contents of a message from anyone but the sender and the intended recipient by converting text and images into unreadable cyphers that are unscrambled on receipt."

(Boris Johnson becoming piglet, with added grease perhaps?) It's a new kind of magic. And the good news is that corporations might find it black. Or even deadly."

It's a simple prompt for a generative AI to handle, which actually produces a cute result. Of course, Disney doesn't find it cute at all, which is why Microsoft reprogrammed its Bing Image creator. "The university presidents' council said this morning that the security of its central admissions system has been upgraded after the personal data of around 23,000 students was advertised for sale on the dark web. The university presidents' council insisted that the leaked admissions data, which included personal information and examination results, was only current through last May after anger erupted over the data breach. #BanTCAS was surging on Thai Twitter this morning in reference to the Thai University Central Admission System, or TCAS."

As Trump once again heads out on the campaign trail, this is part of a broader far right panic about diversity and inclusion that has already resulted in proposed regressive anti-women and anti-woke legislation in the US and elsewhere."
