The goal of this paper to examine the role played by the hospitality industry in the organisation of events for clients. As most literature on even tourism is saturated with repeat data on the importance of mega events and their socioeconomic impact on destinations, this paper focuses more on the organisation of these events. For this location the study revealed that whilst religious and socialization activities dominated hotel events, only a small percentage of events organised covered corporate conferences, meetings, and workshops. Though clients have shown a mostly unanimous satisfaction with these meetings, managers feel that they have not received proper training in event planning and management. The managers have made an effort to voice their concerns, given the increase in the number of international tourists to Ghana, along with an increase in the number of hotels, restaurants, and other hospitality facilities. It has been observed that in developing countries, events pay a more significant role for individuals and the community. For final findings, it can be concluded that managers faced challenges such as ineffective communication and misunderstanding of expectations. Managers felt that they lacked certain basic expectations about events, and finally that the general pubic has certain expectations for these events that were at times not met. Hospitality facilities must be well-trained and be properly supervised during he course of these events

    Great article. When I heard about this next big step that Google is making I was intrigued because I travel about 2-3 times a year and my go to site to book flights is Google flights. I always found that it was simpler to use Google Flights than to use Expedia or Orbit. Although Expedia and Orbit offered the hotels and flights in one page, I always deemed them to be too busy and more complicate to navigate. Looking at Google Travel, Google have kept it clean, direct and simpler and no pop up ads than what we are used to from the other OTA sites. It is interesting to know how relations with Google and Expedia will be after this. Although as the article states, Expedia CEO Mark Okerstrom saw this coming and he states "we have to be watchful about what they are doing" because Google have obtained a tremendous amount of data collected from marketing that Expedia does through Google.

Falconer's finding first indicates that GDS usage has significantly grown in the past ten years. The author notes that by 2019, the number of travel agents using the site of GDS to make bookings had increased from 42 million to 79 million between 2009 and 2019 (Falconer). Based on the survey, most travel agents indicated that parity rates are influential to the decision to book a facility using the GDs site or others.       Skift posted this article almost a year ago but I felt like it was still applicable today. It definitely speaks to this week's subject of integrating IT into a business and the time invested. Event related technological solutions have boomed in recent years but this article finds that meeting planners are having trouble navigating cloud-based event management platforms like Cvent. I actually had personal experience with this in my previous role - I was on the receiving end of the RFP meaning planners would want me to generate quotes for them. Unfortunately our venue didn't have consistent pricing rates so I would have to personally contact the requestor to learn more about their event, which defeats the purpose of the software. Eventually we just stopped using the system altogether but couldn't figure out who to speak with at Cvent to close our account - so to some planners it appeared as though we were flat out ignoring their business. What I found interesting about this article is that those planners also had issues with the system, specifically with the lack of clarity and poor response rates. Another point of contention is that planners are using technology post-event to measure ROI, but they are having a lot of trouble implementing this data to make future programming better. Mike Mason, VP of sourcing and hospitality solutions with etouches (another event management platform) discusses a new tool that allows planners to measure attendee engagement but admits that firms need to build in a better support system for their clients.
