Social CRM applications encourage many-to-many participation among internal users, as well as customers, partners, affiliates, fans, constituents, donors, members and other external parties, to support sales, customer service and marketing processes. Social CRM works within each of these domains, for example, to provide a social enterprise feedback mechanism in the service domain, or social monitoring or product development in the marketing domain.”
-

-
Rapportive scours the social landscape and provides links and details from LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and numerous other sites to give you a fast glance at just who it is you’re corresponding with. It will also tell you location information, if they are nearby and using such services, of course.

To know who your guests are and what they like is definitely a competitive strategy for hotels. From this article, there're tons of Apps working to assist and improve Customer Relationship Management system. According to what I searched, infusionsoft is very time consuming and team initiative to customize properly. It's hard to make each application perfect but the purpose behind them is clear: to communicate with customers as more as we can. Those Apps make teams spread across large distances (and businesses set in one location) to collaborate on leads, contacts, discussions and other items and make this extremely simple to do. So being able to collaborate on more aspects of your daily operations is much more beneficial to overall sales and customer experiences. Some applications bring collaboration to a few narrow aspects of CRM, some bring collaboration to the center of the app, and regardless if you're managing other aspects of your business through software you will need to find ways to collaborate on that as well. Many companies accomplish this by using a variety of applications, but it absolutely brings integration issues and high monthly bills. So a lot of helpful solutions are center collaboration with a feature-consolidating environment across a variety of aspects of business management software. WORKetc is a business management app that combines CRM, PM, Finances (expenses, invoicing, etc) and help desk software into one - and brings collaboration to all of these aspects. Thus, it's essential to collaborate them wisely instead of combining as more as possible.

Data Security Basics: Five Security Issues All Hotel Operators Need to Know | hospitali... - 0 views
-
This article looks at the top five issues facing hotel operators and what actionable steps can be taken to decrease the likelihood that your business will be stung by data thieves.
-
Franchise operators need to be aware, however, that an improperly configured RMA is vulnerable to data compromise attack by hackers.
-
Transaction volume, brand recognition and the potential for sensitive data retention are all factors that make hotels (particularly franchise networks) juicy targets for hackers seeking to exploit insecure networks via the Internet.
- ...3 more annotations...
-
Hotel operators need to know that passwords, designed to keep criminals out, can also be a vulnerability in the absence of proper controls
-
Thanks to wireless networks, guests can speed though the check-in process, expedite valet parking and send room service orders directly to the kitchen. At the same time, hotel operators should recognize that criminals can leverage improperly secured wireless networks to steal cardholder data and should implement strategies to thwart these efforts.
-
Despite all best efforts, data compromise events can occur and every hotel operator should have a plan in place. Prompt action must be taken by hotels or restaurants that have experienced a suspected or confirmed security breach to help prevent additional exposure of cardholder data and ensure compliance with the data security requirements.
-
The article discusses five issues that hotel operations are facing, and how to decrease these issues in regards to data thieves. The first security issue discussed is "Remote Access", the article states "Many hotel operators and franchisors use remote management applications (RMAs)". This enable easy access to manage multiple locations downloads; conduct sales polls, and other systems within multiple companies. A advices to remote control issues are to change vendor default settings, in which you can create unique user IDs and complex passwords. Another advice is to "Configure the RMA", in which users are only allowed to connect to known MAC/IP. I personally don't think that creating a unique ID or account password may solve this issue, but allowing connection capability to a set IP/MAC is a wise intake. Although being able to just connect to a set MAC, will cause a limit on where and when you connect. The second security issue is "Network Security", many transaction volumes are being exposed, brand recognition as well; and that attract hackers. In order to reduce this problem, it is suggested that companies need to install and maintain a fire wall at all time. I agree with this other suggestion which is to Use outside resources to help identify new security vulnerabilities. This is great, because a company will be able to receive an outside outlook in regards to security. The last three issues that are on this list are: Password Management, Wireless Security, and Incident Response Plan. Overall it's evident that any system that has a password requirement is causing a major attraction towards security thieves. The suggestions within this article are great, but from my observation; many companies will have to put in time to track and monitor their systems. Systems can't allow to be left open without monitoring, and the internet is a lead way to all this, so any system that requires the internet must be monitored, and protected.
-
Technology enables service. That's the idea, anyway. In the hotel industry, thousands of companies worldwide provide hundreds of software applications to help hotels and hotel companies manage operations to provide better guest service. However, the hospitality industry continues to find itself targeted for damaging data compromise events by hackers. There are some good ways to decrease the attack of hackers. For example, Remote Access, many hotel operators and franchisors use remote management applications (RMAs). Their ease of use in managing multiple locations makes them ideally suited to disseminate business downloads, conduct sales polls or survey inventory. RMAs are often packaged from vendors with default or blank passwords. Creating unique user IDs and complex passwords can reduce the risk of data compromise and help facilitate compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS). Another example is about Network Security, transaction volume, brand recognition and the potential for sensitive data retention are all factors that make hotels (particularly franchise networks) juicy targets for hackers seeking to exploit insecure networks via the Internet. The hotel can install and maintain a firewall at all times. Disabling a firewall can put a business at heightened risk of Internet attacks and potential system compromise.

Outlook Government economists predict that jobs for computer and information systems managers will grow faster than the average for all careers through 2018. There will likely be more job openings than qualified job seekers. Those with expertise in cyber security should find themselves in demand. For an edge in the job hunt, combine specialized technical knowledge with strong communication and business skills. One way to do that is to earn a master of business administration (M.B.A.) with a concentration in information systems.

Hotels Remain a Prime Target for Hackers - Security Boulevard - 0 views

Two years ago, in its “Hotels Outlook Report 2018-2022,” PWC found that hotels are a favorite target for hackers, with the hospitality industry having the second-highest breach numbers after the retail sector
-
In 2018, hackers attempted to access Marriott International’s Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide guest reservation database. In the same year, the Radisson Hotel Group identified a breach affecting Radisson Rewards members

These breaches can also be costly, with the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) fining Marriott $23.8 million for the Starwood breach.
-
Today, close to 50% of all bookings happen through online travel agencies or online channels, with the share of offline bookings dropping every year.

For hotels, the information is exchanged between the payment gateway, the OTA, the intermediary and its central reservations system (CRS
-
Instead, they should look at technology providers that help in securing the entire data value chain by focusing on having a security framework that stops data from moving outside of the country (which is where it is typically misused
-
Second, hotels should know the storage practices and policies of all providers, insisting on a zero percent storage rate to reduce the chance of personal data getting expos
-
Similarly, hotels should make sure that partners do not store any credit card information locally, which will reduce the risk of exposure
-
lso, with most companies using some form of cloud infrastructure, hotels should know the structure used by any partner (private, hybrid, public) as well as what protections are in place
-
They will also be taking an important step in protecting their brand identity, as brand will be essential as the recovery from the COVID-19 fallout continues
-
This article points out that hotels are still a huge target for hackers. Hotels need to make sure they reduce the temptation on standalone point solutions. Hotels should focus on having a security framework that stops data from moving outside of he country. To limit hacking as well, hotels should not store information locally. It was surprising to read that 74% of hotels lacked breach protection.

New Distribution Capability (NDC) is a new technology created by IATA to streamline the airline distribution process.
-
It's an XML-based communication standard originally developed by Farelogix in 2010 to create direct connections between airlines and third party distributors.
-
This was standardized in 2012 by IATA to replace the old EDIFACT messaging standard, which global distribution systems (GDSs) rely on.
-
NDC was orginally created as a way to bypass the GDS providers, but slowly these providers have become more involved in the process. The basic idea is that NDC is supposed to give indirect distribution channels, such as GDS and metasearch, the same capabilities as an airline’s website.
-
There are several different players involved in the NDC process: travel agents, airlines, aggregators and IT providers.
-
Travel agents and airlines are straightforward. The aggregators are the different intermediaries involved in communicating the travel agent's request to different airlines.
-
The integration layer method is less complicated, and companies such as Openjaw, Farelogix, and Paxport have created solutions by sitting above the airline’s PSS.
-
third party distribution process works as follows when a traveler needs to reach their destination at a certain time and price:
-
The traveler goes to their travel agent who then queries the GDS system. The GDS pulls information about schedules and fares from a third party. The GDS builds the offer, then goes to the airline to get information about availability. When the offer is available, the information is relayed back to the travel agent and passenger who can then see the airline, price and schedule.
-
A travel agent will create a shopping request which will be sent to an aggregator. The aggregator will then create an offer request to be sent out directly to airlines. The airlines will then determine a product that fits the offer.
-
According to IATA, this process will eliminate confusion over what's included in the offer. It will also be able to simplify the airline ticketing process.
-
One is by integrating directly to the airline passenger service system (PSS), the other is an integration layer outside of the PSS.
-
The product is sent back to the travel agent through the aggregator and the offer will "evaporate" after a certain amount of time.
-
In order to set up a full NDC suite, airlines have to create an offer and order management system, which will interact with the PSS.
-
NDC connections mostly use it in limited cases, and not to its full potential. United has partnered with Amadeus to have an NDC connection to their GDS for selling their economy plus product.
-
Many airlines are piloting these simple types of connections through NDC (instead of developing their own direct connection) as it will be easier to increase the scope with other distribution providers.
-
Other carriers such as GOL are using NDC connections for offer and order management, providing ability to purchase seats, bags, upgrades, meals, car rentals, and travel insurance, as well as ability to bundle the products (this is being done with Navitaire as their IT provider).
-
In the future, there are hopes that NDC will be able to connect to chatbots, allow purchasing and upsell through things such as Amazon and Alexa.
-
Part of the challenge is getting airlines, travel agencies and GDSs to spend money on the infrastructure needed to implement NDC.
-
Airlines are hoping that by using NDC connections either through GDS or directly to travel agents/metasearch they will be able to pull in additional revenue for each ticket sold
-
Some airlines such as Lufthansa, IAG (British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus), Meridiana, and Ukraine International Airways are introducing fees for tickets booked through GDS, however the fees are waived for tickets booked through NDC connections.

It can be costly to staff qualified accountants to complete manual accounting processes, but it can also be costly to staff accountants familiar with specific computerized accounting software and programming.
-
small business owners who are not tech-savvy may prefer to use physical records instead of software
-
All calculations are performed manually, which eliminates the risk of duplication mistakes and corrupt data
-
Computerized accounting systems are significantly more complex and involve a learning curve
-
Additionally, there is no risk of data loss or leaked financial information due to data breaches.
-
Some may require switching to the latest computer technology, leading to higher costs
-
manual accounting is prone to human error
-
computerized accounting provides companies with financial intelligence
-
This article compares the advantages and disadvantages of having a computerized accounting system and then also completing the task by hand. When looking at different factors it is clear that it seems like an owner would run a risk going either way because where the computer would lack in areas, the human touch would prevail and then where a human touch would lack in other areas, the computer would prevail. Therefore, I would conclude that it is probably better to have a little bit of both to help make the process smooth but not over bearing on a human or even on the computer.
-
This article basically goes over the pros and cons of switching over to computerized accounting systems like Quickbooks and Freshbooks. It goes over the main concerns like data breached and human error, but it also deleves a little deeper to discuss how many of the software require regular system and hardware updates in order to have the software run efficiently.

In addition to the positive economic outlook, the technology of GDS itself is proving to be a powerfully tool. With greater reach and increased visibility, GDSs make the jobs of agents easier, and in an information- based industry, ease of work is a high selling point. The GDS will have many more obstacles to face in its evolution, but the future looks bright for this inclusive booking software.
