Time is key when working in healthcare, and the speed of access to data could assist in saving someones life.
  • many companies will strive to increase their ability to store, process, analyze, and secure essential healthcare data. As a result, instead of using various cloud providers for multiple applications or disaster recovery, such cohesive approaches will become more common.

As companies expand there cloud-based services, they will become much more attractive to current clients with wanting to take their business to the next level.
  • The current healthcare cloud computing market is valued at nearly $18 billion and is expected to increase by almost 18.7% between 2022 and 2025.
  • there will be a greater need for security, privacy, and compliance
  • More than 81% of the most successful IT companies have begun to work on AI technologies, allowing them to revolutionize business processes and increase efficiency and productivity while supporting human capabilities and automating repetitive tasks.

Cloud-based software would be at the top of the list for these upgrades and modernizations which would increase revenue substantially for multiple cloud services. The same exact software needed for a major hospital may not be need for urgent care or small primary care office, but the software is needed none the less.
  •
Software as a Service is becoming an essential part of the healthcare community. The time saved researching information about a patient, searching for medications or treatments could be valuable time needed for saving a life. It is project that "the number of businesses using cloud-based apps is expected to increase by 19.6%." With the increase in the use of cloud-based applications, there is a stronger need for the attention given to data security. Especially when it comes to patient information. Multiple cloud based options may initially be utilized before phasing into singular sources over time. This will alleviate some of the pressure needing to have the increased security for two platform rather than one.

Hotel Cyber-Security | Past Issues | Lodging Magazine - 0 views

  • Hotel cyber-security is facing increasing scrutiny from federal regulators. Case in point, last June the Federal Trade Commission sued Wyndham Worldwide hotels after apparently unsophisticated hackers allegedly stole the credit card information of more than 600,000 customers leading to a more than $10.6 million fraud loss.
  • So what are reasonable data security measures? The FTC itself has stated that the data security measures it considers reasonable “will depend on the size and complexity of the business, the nature and scope of its activities, and the sensitivity of the information at issue.” In other words, it is nearly impossible to know if your data security is adequate until the FTC tells you it is inadequate. While data security has been a hallmark of compliance for healthcare providers and banks for more than a decade, the hospitality industry has not been subjected to the same regulatory framework.

IHIF: Leisure investment growing in importance for UK banks | News | Breaking Travel News - 0 views

  • hotels and leisure sector has become the third-largest lending market for NatWest and RBS under the Funding for Lending Scheme
  • Andrew Taylor, head of leisure for commercial banking at NatWest and RBS, said: “I’m delighted at how successful we have been in helping clients in the hotels and leisure sector access cost-effective funds – we are committed to working with businesses of all sizes.
  •
In the United Kingdom, the hospitality and leisure industry has become the third largest recipient of Funding for Lending Scheme loans. The only industries that lead the hospitality and leisure sector are agriculture and healthcare. This industry is a major lending market for NatWest and the Royal Bank of Scotland, which sees over £200m FLS loans to date. The current head of leisure for commercial banking at NatWest and RBS recently stated he was thrilled to help clients in this industry create cost effective funds. Additionally this team was created in September 2011 to focus on the hospitality industry. From 2011 to 2012 there was an increase in lending of eight percent. I find the concept of banking dedicated to the hospitality industry to be both beneficial and interesting. I feel this can help a business focus on creating the right types of investments in the hospitality field in order for a business to succeed. This can help small hospitality firms, hotels, restaurants, and other related businesses to seek financial help from someone who understands the field in the banking and investment industry. A dedicated system can focus on the needs of a hospitality business since it only focuses on this type of business for FLS loans.

  • “The Subway case is a clear indication that privileged and administrative accounts are increasingly targeted and used by criminals to steal sensitive information,”
  • “In this case, the attackers were able to simply do an Internet search for remote desktop applications that were used by the restaurants, and through simple password cracking techniques, they were able to gain administrative access to the systems.  This enabled them to easily steal sensitive financial information from unsuspecting customers.”
  • Two Romanian nationals have plead guilty for participating in an international, multimillion-dollar scheme to remotely hack into and steal payment card data from hundreds of U.S. merchants’ computers, including a great number of Subway restaurants. • Bosnian continues, “The reality is that anyone with an Internet connection can search for, identify and target  remote applications that businesses rely on – the problem facing the industry is that there is not sufficient security and protection around the entry points to these applications. Once inside, attackers have free reign on the network. If you examine the list of the recent, high-profile data breaches that have plagued organizations, including Global Payments, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Utah healthcare breach, etc…, the common denominator is that the attackers focused on gaining access to the privileged or administrative accounts.”

This article discusses the security issues with restaurants using remote desktop applications that are easily accessed by hackers trying to steal stored credit card information. The relative simplicity in which these hackers were able to steal the numbers should pose a real concern for restaurant owners in making sure their systems are properly secure from theft. They were able to crack simple password protected applications to gain access to private information. These remote applications used by restaurants are a not provided with enough security and therefore are easy targets for hackers.

Top 5 Technology Trends in Event Measurement - 0 views

  •
The topic of the article is the top five technology trend in event measurement. First, it is easier to go green. According to the article, the using of smart phones and web-enable devices benefit the events planning a lot. You're "going green" by minimizing paper, you eliminate hours of manual tasks (distributing and collecting surveys, manually tabulating results) and associated labor costs, and you can view results in minutes rather than weeks. The article also used a example of Game Crazy to explain it. The Game Crazy used electronic surveys to find out if their sales associates were being motivated and acquiring new learning during their annual sales meeting. The second trend is social media. Social media for events, when applied strategically, deliver great value. For instance, the Facebook, Twitter, other platforms can help you start and maintain a pre-event conversation with potential attendees to determine what topics will be of greatest interest and relevance. There are as many creative, successful uses of social media in the event industry as there are pointless and unproductive ones. Then, the trend is a single consistent lead management solution. It means that to drive ROI, exhibitors need a complete lead management solution that includes lead qualification and prioritization to determine which leads have a higher probability of converting to sales. By extending the lead management solution across all events, the event manager can identify trends; provide benchmarking stats and help exhibitors establish objectives prior to the event. In addition, the event to event metrics became another trend. The trend is used by combining data generated by all these solutions into an executive dashboard that clearly demonstrates results versus established objectives and compares results from one event to another, you are able to monitor your team's performance and make necessary changes to improve overall event results. In order to explain this trend bett
