    This new feature from EventMobi allows conference attendees to pre-engage with each other prior to the conference. Much like a 'chat-room' of days past, sharing interests will allow attendees with like interests to meet or 'chat' with each other. Imagine a first time attendee 'room' where first time conference attendees have the ability to immediately connect with each other to share in the conference together....they don't know anyone, don't know what to expect, etc., when it can be difficult to break into a repeating conference where many of the attendees know each other. Or how about a "morning runner" group, or a 'I like dogs group' for a veterinarian conference. It's a great move forward for conference attendees.

  • Hotel cyber-security is facing increasing scrutiny from federal regulators. Case in point, last June the Federal Trade Commission sued Wyndham Worldwide hotels after apparently unsophisticated hackers allegedly stole the credit card information of more than 600,000 customers leading to a more than $10.6 million fraud loss.

While data security has been a hallmark of compliance for healthcare providers and banks for more than a decade, the hospitality industry has not been subjected to the same regulatory framework.

  • The study found 36 percent of mobile phone owners subscribe to receive mobile messages from businesses, and of those subscribers, 90 percent opt to receive mobile messages from one to five businesses.

    This is an article about how restaurants are changing the way they manage their data by using the cloud instead of hard terminals at their geographic location. Options exist to utilize mobile technology. There are advantages of this including consistent access to data and less equipment is needed on site. Hard Terminals as well as mobile options currently exist so that the retail location can make decisions that fit the needs of that specific location. Another advantage is that staff no longer need to do as much manual work with the equipment. What took several hours now does not. A common concern with using the cloud is local internet outage. However, a 4G solution is available that turns the operation into wifi. Also, back ups are part of the cloud, so no information is lost. There are enhancements available or in development including QR Codes and mobile ordering via a tablet or smartphone. Once these devices are more common than not, more hospitality locations will move to cloud based systems.
