The site gives a lot of information on the different attachment styles and what they mean, as well as providing a video that illustrates the different types of attachment. How this influenced my thinking- This influenced my thinking by allowing me to see how crucial of a role attachment plays in the development of children. It also walks through the different stages of attachment and where children are at in different points in their lives How This Influenced My Thinking: I felt like it gave a little more information and helped to clear some things up that I was wondering about in the textbook. Credibility of Source: pretty good, well written and well cited information in the article.

How this influenced my thinking: I found it very interesting that Bowlby thought that there is a link between separations with the mom at an early age and maladjustments later on. Credibility of Source: It is from the simply psychology website, seems credible.

Title: Social Development Author: Growing Miracles Date Published: 2010 Why Relevant and Summary: It's relevant because it talks about the social development and all the aspects of what a toddler learns in this stage of life. It talks about communicating, sharing, putting the child in home settings and setting limits for the child. How This Influenced My Thinking: It influences my thinking because it makes me want to go back to when my children were small so that I can teach them differently than how they were taught. Credibility of Source: I think it's credible because even though it was reprinted with permission, the information is similar to that of research.

How this influenced my thinking: This influenced my thinking because I hadn't realized how important attachment is to a child.

It gives several examples on how to make your child grateful for everything and in the process it also helps children to be more social and overcome shyness. How this influenced my thinking: This article was very helpful. I was aware of all of the examples but it definitely made me put in action the examples whenever I have a toddler, because I definitely want them to be well educated and respectful. Title:Outdoor Play Author: Johnson, Christie & Wardle Date Published: 2005 Why relevant/summary: This article is relevant because it throughly discusses the importance of physical activity to a growing toddler, specifically how outdoor play can aide in not only their physical development but how it can also be used as a tool for cognitive learning opportunities. How this influenced my thinking: This article opened my eyes to how outdoor play is not only providing play and physical activity for a young child but also many different learning opportunities that they may not experience otherwise. Credibility of Source: Very credible, the authors provided many examples as well as citations and references.

Title: ADHD Overview Author: Jacob Silverman Date Published: No date Why relevant and summary: This is a comprehensive overview of ADHD, the causes, symptoms, diagnoses, treatments and related disorders. There are also a number of other highly relevant articles that are easily accessible on this site. How this influenced my thinking: There is a lot of information about raising a child with ADHD. I've never had experience with this in regards to my own children, but as a former teacher I have been aware of the 'basics' for many years. There is so much to learn and understand on this topic, especially so that caregivers can be more understanding of individualized needs and be less likely to judge or treat children with ADHD differently. Credibility of source: This is a Discovery Health article. It may not be highly credible in it's own right, but likely pulled it's information from scholarly/medical/research based resources.

Title: Habituation - The Most Basic Form of Learning Author: Kendra Cherry Date Published: no date Why Relevant and Summary: I found this short excerpt helpful in defining habituation, but also explaining how this process is a method of learning for infants. How This Influenced my Thinking: This made me think about how infants use this as a method of learning; after observing an object until it is instilled in memory and moving along to newer objects and stimuli further their knowledge. Its the beginning of their being "scientists" and observing their environment and assessing it. Credibility of Source: recognized the journalist, informational website with section for Psychology and has other topics about infant development

Title: "Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development: Instruction Implications and Teacher's Professional Development" Authors: Shabani, Karim; Mohades, Allameh; Khatib, Mohamad; Tabataba, Allameh; Ebadi, Saman; Tabatabie, Allameh Date Published:December 2010 Why Relevant and Summary: It gives a good assessment of ZPD and explains the relevance to cognitive development in depth. How This Influenced My Thinking: Makes the idea of ZPD and scaffolding very clear in my mind and reinforced the importance of this idea. It also covers experiments performed and breaks them down to show how infants react to stimuli for periods of time. How This Influenced My Thinking: This reinforced my beliefs on habituation and dishabituation and increased my knowledge on the subject. Credibility of Source:Uses references and research so it is pretty reliable

Author:Nikolai Veresov Why Relevant and Summary:This is relevant to my summary because it includes and talks about the Zone of Proximal Development that Vygotsky & Rogoff talk and detail about. How This Influenced My Thinking:This made me realize that there is more to the Zone of Proximal Development. It is not just all about observations and study. It is interactions as well. Credibility:from academia.com, i would say it is pretty credible since it is on a "edu" website.
