It gives you tips and advice for prenatal development. It also gives you defenitions and good facts. How This Influenced My Thinking: This allowed me to see more of the preganancy side than anything else. I managed to read through it and find out that there are a lot of things you need to do while pregnant. Credibility: It came from Womenshealth.org, and a doctor wrote this, so I assume that it is very credible.

    Title: Researching cause and effect Author: Lance Jones Date published: Jan 15th, 2012 Why is this relevant: This power point is relevant because it gives you many recources that would help someone understand what cause and effect is. For example, it provides you with background information on it, states the 3 main characteristics of it, on top of providing you with many examples that really help your understanding of the topic. The slide is very user-friendly and easy to understand. It even provides synonyms for words in case you don't understand. How this influenced my thinking: It has influenced my thinking in a couple ways. One, i never knew there were so many aspects to cause and effect. There are two variables that must be related, two sides to the correlation, and the cause must come before the effect and not vise versa. Two, it really helped me understand why a person would use the cause and effect method, and also why it might not be the best method for some types of studies. This is a thorough video that demonstrates and explains Bronfenbrenner's ecological theory while demonstrating plenty of examples. How This Influenced My Thinking: This video presented a bit more information and examples which helped me understand the theory as well as Bronfenbrenner's strong interests in social environment and cultural impact. Credibility of Source: This video seems very credible with a lot of the information aligning with the information we read and was given to us in class.

The analogies and summaries were helpful to understand the ecological systems better. How This Influenced My Thinking: This journal helped me understand everything a little bit better to where I can think more. I was able to actually think about what I wanted to say and how to say it without being blocked from the unknowns. Even though the material is a little bit old, it is definitely not outdated; it taps on important issues going on in our schools especially with the preschool system that serves underprivileged children. This book begins with the anatomy of the egg and sperm, and the cell division that occurs just after conception. Starting with the first few hours, then moving into the first several days, and finally presenting images of the growing fetus week-by-week, this is an absolutely fascinating book. NOTE: I own a copy and am willing to bring to class if anyone is interested. How this influenced my thinking: Every time I look through this book, I am fascinated and truly moved by the miracle that is the creation and development of us! Credibility of Source: The author, Alexander Tsiaras, is responsible for remarkable achievements in medical imaging technology. Barry Werth is a renowned U.S. science writer. LaVoie Date Published: 2008 Why Relevant: This is a research article from the journal of research in personality which is a great source to begin with in regards to personality theory. This research article is a great example of the scientific research method and a great example of a longitudinal study. Its focus is also relevant to my topic which is identity formation and more specifically measures adult's readiness to change and its influence on identity formation How this influenced my thinking: I found the age range of the participants 22-60 to be interesting. It shines a light on the fact that identity it always changing no matter what age and stage in life a person is. I also found it interesting that they came up with two ways to measure readiness to change and that they discovered this to be a player in identity formation during adulthood. Credibility:High

The article talks about the development of the child's reasoning and breaks them down into stages that are correlated to the individual's age. The author doesn't necessarily brush upon how the child's developmental reasoning is influenced but more the basic stages of development. How this influenced me: This article guided me in the right direction as far as research methods go. Credibility of source: I believe it's pretty credible.

    Title:Kohlberg's Theory of Moral Development Author: Kendra Cherry Date Published: no date Why Relevant and Summary: This article breaks down the different levels of moral development and gets even further into detail about the different stages found in the level of moral development. This article also provides the an example/scenario that Kohlberg provided in his own work which is the "Heinz Steals the Drug." How This Influenced My Thinking: This helped my understanding by being able to see the different levels and the stages inside of the levels of moral development. Credibility of Source: The authors hold a masters degree.

    Title: Kohlberg's Theory of Moral Development Author: Kendra Cherry Date Published:n.d. Why Relevant and Summary:This article gave information on Kohlberg's theory of moral development. All three levels were mentioned and all six stages were discussed. Preconventional reasoning consists of stages one and two. Stage one is based on obedience and punishment.Children should obey the rules in order to avoid consequences of their actions. Stage two is based on individualism and exchange. The example given is of children arguing on which course of action is best, when it really only matters which one is best for you. Conventional reasoning consists of stages three and four and is based on conforming to someone else's needs of a role. Stage three is when a person lives up to social expectations of what people have of them. Conforming to what they see you as. Stage four is maintaining social order, society is viewed as one when making judgements such as maintaining the law and order. Postconventional consists of stages five and six and is based on independent judgements. Stage five is social and individual rights and stage six is our universal principles. How This Influenced My Thinking: This article had some great examples that made Kohlberg's theory a bit more clear for me to understand each stage and level. Credibility: I find this source to be credible.

Provided a scenario with which to observe moral reasoning and the different approaches it could've been addressed by. We need to normalize breastfeeding in our society. How This Influenced My Thinking: Breastfeeding long term is biologically normal, but not socially normal. The more we see the benefits and see mothers continuing to breastfeed, the more socially normal it will become. I am proud to call Jamie Grumet a friend of mine.     Title: Breastfeeding Author: Doug Cope Date Published: 1/19/2013 Why Relevant and Summary: Great one minute talk about the benefits of breastfeeding, and alternative options. In a study from the Center for Disease and Control, 1,500 women were surveyed their plans for exclusive breastfeeding after birth of their incoming child, 85% of the women stated they planned to exclusively breastfeed, while only 32% of those moms actually were able to after birth, "..and that just shows that we're not supporting mothers to be able to feed their babies in ways they'd like". American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization recommend that women breastfeed exclusively for the first six months of babies lives due to the health benefits. Infants that are breastfed have reduced risk of ear infections, gastrointestinal infections, diabetes and sudden infant death syndrome. Mothers who breastfeed have reduced risk of breast and ovarian cancer. In order to improve the breastfeeding rate, it is important that in the first days of an infant's life s/he can stay with their mother for the first 24 hours of life in the hospital to receive exclusively breast milk. How This Influenced My Thinking: I learned about the benefits of breastfeeding, and the large impact it has on babies' development. Credibility of Source: Very credible.
