How this influenced my thinking: This text gave detailed information about what is maintained and what diminishes during middle adulthood. Credibility of Source: 7/All sources cited; appears to be a textbook

Why Relevant and Summary: An extensive and thorough explanation of what ADHD is, what the symptoms are, the different variations of it, solutions with which to combat it, medications to take, parenting tips, ADHD through the ages, coexisting conditions, etc. Very useful. How This Influenced My Thinking: It enhanced my knowledge and perception of ADHD and those who have ADHD... allowed me to relate it to my experience of having a sister with ADHD. Title: Pros and Cons of Breastfeeding Author: Melissa Kotlen Nagin Date Published: January 31, 2008 Why Relevant and Summary: It's relevant because it talked about the benefits to breastfeeding for both the mother and the baby. It also discussed the cons to breastfeeding such as the amount of energy it takes. How This Influenced My Thinking: This influenced my thinking because it made me realize that I definitely want to breastfeed my baby when the time comes. Credibility of Source: seems credible

Title: Tips for Divorced Parents Author: Block, J. & Smith, M. Date published: 2013 Summary and Relevance: This article explains how important it is to co parent after a divorce and the beneficial effects that has on the child. How this changed my thinking: I saw that even with how destructive divorce can be on a child this can help them to cope. Credibility: Seems credible.

Title-Tips of Divorced Parents Author-Jocelyn Block, M.A. and Melinda Smith Date-2013 Why Relevant and summary- This is relevant because it gives tips on how to be with your children when divorce occurs. How this influenced my thinking- I learned a lot of different things because I have never experience how it is. Credibility- Seems credible because of how recent it is, also the information comes from resources.

Title: Top 10 Reasons Why The BMI Is Bogus Author: Keith Devlin Date Published: July 4, 2009 Why Relevant and Summary: This article exposes the facts behind the BMI and its accuracy, or lack of, in determining body fatness. How This Influenced My Thinking: This article showed when, how, and why the BMI method was established, and its shortcomings for accurately assesing body fatness. Credibility of Source: 6- Published by a credible source, but references not cited at end of text.

Title: The Development of Self-Esteem Author: Sue and Jo Date Published: No Date Why Relevant and Summary: This is a straightforward summary of a child's cognitive development of self-esteem. Although it doesn't include many details of what contributes to a child's self-esteem it does clearly define what its makeup is. How This Influenced My Thinking: This was interesting to me because it summed up the definition of self-esteem in a nutshell. I am personally interested in how to promote a healthy self-esteem in children but this website gives a good foundation for the outline of what self-esteem is and what factors affect it. Credibility of Source: It looks like it's some sort of personal website; however, it does cite studies and seems to back up its statements with scientific data.

Title: Birthing Options Author: Woman's Health Date Published: 2013 Why Relevant and Summary: The Reason why this is relevant is because it has several different birthing options. It talks about pregnancy, things to consider, possible locations for birth, and methods for birth. How This Influenced My Thinking: I hadn't realized how many different birth methods there were. Credibility of Source: It seems credible, the article is very informative and the website has a lot information on women's health

Title: Childbirth and Culture Author: Emily Wehby Date Published: N/D Why Relevant and Summary: Because it talks about childbirth in different cultures. How This Influenced My Thinking: Many detailed information on a lot of things I didn't know about different cultures. Credibility of Source: Seems credible because it has many different sources backing it up.

Title:Learning from inside the womb: how babies acquire skills before birth. Author:Annie Paul Date Published:7/29/2011 Why Relevant and Summary:It tells you all about how in the second trimester an infant can hear and recognize sounds. How This Influenced My Thinking:It has made me more aware of how learning is very important even before birth. Credibility of Source:High

 Title: Author:Kendra Cherryh Date Published:D.N.N Why Relevant and Summary:It is a clear description simply written for the lay person to understand the basic development of language. How This Influenced My Thinking:it has made me have a respect and understanding for how language begins.  It has made me think about how it all starts with the simple sounds an infant makes Credibility of Source: It seems to be a very credible source.

Title: Bronfenbrenner's Theory- youtube (video) Author: kleinen2012 Date Published: April 8, 2009 Why Relevant and Summary: This video was produced by a Human Development student, and gives a great summary of Brofenbrenner's model, along with sharing clear and relevant diagrams and definitions. For the audio-visual learner, this is a great resource for gaining basic understanding of Brofenbrenner's Ecological Model. How This Influenced My Thinking: It helped me, as an auditory learner to better absorb the information. Credibility of Source: 8; It lists her references at the end of the video.

Title: Bronfenbrenner Ecological Theory Author: Yukti Ahuja Date Published: No date listed, but it was written after 2005 because that was the date on several of the sources listed in the paper Why Relevant: It talks about how we can use Bronfenbrenner's theory to look at how we are raising children in today's world where parents may be busier and have less time to be involved in their children's lives. This lack of contact greatly affects a child's microsystem How this influenced my thinking: It made me think about the changes that have happened over the last few decades and how they have affected the lives of children that are being born in today's world. Credibility: Not sure about the credibility, there was no specific publisher listed, but the paper was well written, thoughtful and contained good sources in it.

Title: Bronfenbrenner Ecological Theory Author: Yukti Ahuja Date published: n.d. Why relevant and summary: covers the systems in Bronfenbrenner's ecological model along with giving examples. How it changed my thinking: opened my eyes to how children are growing up today Credibility: fairly credible

Title:Language Development in Children Author:Language Child Development Institute, LLC Date Published:1999 Why Relevant and Summary:This article is a very informative and gives all stages of language development How This Influenced My Thinking:It has made me more clearly understand the process by which language is developed. credibility of Source:Source appears credible as there is a panel of experts who write on their specialties.

Title: Theories of Adolescence Author: R.E Muuss Date Published: 2006 Why Relevent: This book in chapter 14 applied multiple theories including bronfenbrenner's to the adolescent stage. It gives a great description of the theory and applies it to an adolescence network of friends and peers, it even takes into account cultural differences. How This Influenced My Thinking- It provides great examples of each system and goes in depth. It gives insight in the fact that each system not only infuences the individual but the individual infuences the system as well. Credibility: High.seeing as it is the sixth edition of this book being edited and redone multiple times.

Title: Research Sheds Light on How Babies Learns ans Develop Language Author: Kimberly Kopko, Ph.D. Date Published: No Date Why Relevant and Summary: This article is relevant in terms of research methods used in discovering the steps to language development in children. The article discusses the ways that babies begin to understand and categorize words long before a child actually verbalizes. It touches base on the way that adults interact with babies/infants greatly aids language development. How This Influenced My Thinking: This did not influence my thinking but gave me better understanding of how language development begins with categorization. Credibility of Source:This is a credible source. It is a write up of the extensive research done by Dr. Marianella Casasola and Associate Professor of Human Development at Cornell University.

Title: Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Systems Theory Author: John Ryan Date Published: N.D. Why Relevant and Summary: Because it explains the Ecological system and it shows a nice picture of it. How This Influenced My Thinking: It gave a good definition of it and the picture if fun. Credibility of Source: It had resources from the book we are using.
