A university Of Wellington graduate from New Zealand invented the Cortex cast. It is a 3D-Printable cast and has many benefits over your traditional plaster and fibreglass casts. The cortex cast is breathable, aesthetically pleasing, thinner/lighter, and waterproof. Though the start-up cost for a large 3D printer is expensive, the casts can be printed cheaply after. This technology is also being paired with 'Ultra Sound" healing. (LIPUS) is known to help heal fractures by up to 80%. I believe this cast in the future will be the one everyone will want and everyone will use. Once 3D printers become a standard piece of equipment in hospitals, the "Cortex Cast" will take over.

Google is taking one step forward in personal protection with their recently added feature. By automatically adding an "s" to http at the begining of the URL, they are encrypting the website and protecting its viewers from being seen by random people snooping around their searches, by making it more difficult to do so. This feature will soon be an available setting for Firefox, Chrome, Chromium, and Internet Explorer servers. Firefox users can install HTTPS Everywhere extention. Chrome and Chromium users can right click on the URL bar and add an "s" to the end of the "http". Internet Explorer users can add the setting in IE add-ons page.

Everyone has used google at one point in their lives. Well, a new revolution of google is on its way. When we google something have you noticed besides the 'www.' there is an 'http://'. This is means that your search worked but it isn't encrypted. This means that people can see what you're searching. With a new google search engine under development, the search engine revolution will advance. Instead of having to look for the website or whatever you're searching for, which sometimes makes me want to pry my eyes out of my head, the new google plans to take you directly to the website you searched for. What about 'http://' or whatever you ask? Another feature the new google will have is using the 'https://' system. The 's' at the end of the 'http' means 'secured', so basically no one can see what you're searching besides google itself. In other, more technical words, your data is encrypted. Looking forward to the new future of google!

Certain schools are introducing the ipad as an alternative to textbooks. This makes it easier to learn but raises questions on whether or not this is fair. Not every school is going to be able to afford this. This would give the students in the schools that do have them a huge academic advantage, especially in standardized tests and future job opportunities.

Google chrome was launched  3 years ago and soon became one of the most popular web browsers. chrome's amazing design and fairly short development has set hight standards for other web browser vendors. Chrome's transparent update system and channel-based prerelease distribution model are being adopted by Firefox and could eventually be picked up by other browser vendors. After three years chrome remains one of the best browsers in the world and has a bright future ahead.

The article said that windows 8 is going to be the next big thing in computers, its said to be the future of computers. This is mainly because of of its lack of a mouse pad. instead it uses a stylis, so that you can write on the screen and it will recogize the style of writing. its is also portable however the article said that the screen is oddly shaped. How many of us have ever walked up to buy something only to throw your hand into a bunch of cash? Well Google has come out with a revolutionary app called google wallet. This app basically combines all of your payment methods into your mobile phone! It will even add point to your American Express card or any specific reward points programs for specific venders. Isn't this amazing or what?  

Electric vehicle technology is nothing new. The earliest carriage manufacturers began toiling with battery-powered cars around the 1830s and in 1899 the Belgium-built "La Jamais Contente" set the land speed world record at 66MPH. But two years prior to that in 1897, the first commercial fleet of EV vehicles were represented as New York City taxis. Back then, drivers had three different engine types to choose from-steam, combustion or electric-and it just so happened that electric was the most popular because of the ease in gear changing and lack of vibration. Also, steam engines could take up to 45 minutes to start in cold weather.

Netflix is starting to slowly impress us bit by bit. They've signed an agreement with both CBC and Warner Bros. Recently Netflix has also signed an agreement with The CW. Shows like Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries and One Tree Hill and future shows will be available on Netflix starting Oct.15. Signing agreements with these programs will definitely give Netflix a boost.   

Huzzah! Siri has been released! And.....it's "still a work in progress," as Mashable puts it. Siri is now on all iPhone 4S 's and it's very convenient. But, it's still in the works - sometimes it doesn't respond, or get exactly what you want it to. But I suppose, what can you expect when there's still more work to do. Apple is assuring that it will be continuously improved. It is clever, you have to admit. The future looks good, as long as they can upgrade and improve Siri as well as possible.

Recently apple released the iPhone 4s. With it, they released an app called find my friends, with that app, you can track someone (if they first agree) which can be helpful in finding someone at a crowded place. However, it's already wrecked the marriage of a new york couple when a husband was able to catch his wife cheating through this app. What does this say about the future of privacy? Everyday people have less and less of it. 

Now 10 years later when we have the shiny Windows 7 out, and Windows 8 coming out soon, we must remember the OS that changed it all, Windows XP. This is the reason we have all these things that we didn't have before like talking to friends via our PC, Wireless networking and more. Happy birthday Windows XP, you are always better than Vista.

As an eReader owner, I find this very interesting. On an eReader, you can highlight sections of a passage in an eBook and it will save it for future reference. Now, Findings, a social corporation, has turned into "an online destination where readers can collect, share, discuss, and discover such highlights from eBooks and web texts," which basically means that you can now share your highlights with the world on Findings. Not very impressive, I know, but for an eReader owner, it is useful. You can look up someone else's saved passages from a book you don't even own, so there's a way this technology can help you out in this world - save a couple dollars.

Although new web browsers are running much faster than they did a few years ago, web evangelist, John Allsopp, suggests people slow down their technology for a little while. He says there is still a large group of people who do not have advanced technology at home to keep up with these new ways. What he is basacally saying is that the advanced world should take a break and wait for everyone -- even those who have trouble affording it -- to survive.

The future of gaming is set and Sony has clearly decided to be apart of it. At a recent conference, the company displayed a sleek prototype of a headset that will give players a high definition, panoramic view of the game as if they were present in the server, all in 3D. Sony has already sold thousands of headsets to developers and is inspired and encouraged to make their own virtual reality game and are looking forward to working with new technology. I think that this new format of gaming would be really interesting and futuristic. Certainly, the game play would be more realistic as I don't think there would be as much restrictions to pressing a sequence of buttons, when technically using the headset would allow you to act out exactly what you want to happen. Although I am aware of the dangers of virtual reality due to a specific anime, the fact that technology has made it so far is purely amazing.

Choosing a career is easy but to be sure of its existence in future is pretty difficult. If you look decades back from now, you must have noticed a number of careers that existed but have become obsolete now. However, there are certain careers that are likely to exist in coming years regardless of economic situation or changing business requirements.

Scientists are researching new ways to grow food in space as farming on Earth becomes more advanced. Scientists have developed things like growing crops with LED light or heating greenhouses with waste nuclear power station heat. There are also farms that are automatic and self-sustaining. This gave scientists the idea of growing food in space since astronauts usually eat only pre-packaged food in space and a balanced diet is essential for extended trips. If all farms became fully automated, traditional farm technology companies will go out of business unless they could adapt because their products would no longer be needed. If companies started shutting down, it could cause some economic instability since many workers would be without work.Automated farming equipment will also raise questions if automated technology will spread to other industries. Since the Western world is a capitalist system, company owners really only care about their profit and will not mind investing in technology that can do what workers did for free as automated technology becomes more common. This advancement could also result in the collapse of the labour workforce since technology can take their place for less money. I hope that automated technology will not spread to other industries other than farming because the economy is already unstable as it is, deteriorating the labour workforce can put the world into economic turmoil. I can understand funding automated farming for sustaining long term space missions since astronauts could lack certain nutrients because of the absence of fresh food..

JavaScript is a well known programming tool that has been around for quite awhile. Many up and coming programmers start out with JavaScript based on it being flexible, maintainable, powerful, and very easy to use. However, once these startups start becoming larger and larger, many lines of coding are needed, and this is where the issue arrives. When being used on a larger scale, JavaScript is in no way the main performer as it is on the smaller scale. JavaScript's features previously stated are what attract programmers to using the engine. However, now that larger companies are using it, the limitations are becoming evident. Being described as an 'iron triangle', JavaScript's issues lie in the fact with an improvement in one area. another area suffers. If you want high flexibility and performance, it's going to be harder to maintain the code. If you want great performance and maintainability,  the flexibility and ability to adapt to change will be reduced. Big budget companies don't have time to be messing around with JavaScript's shortcomings, which is keeping them attracted to lesser engines, such as Flash. The article then continues to discuss whether or not JavaScript is on it's death bed. Some argue that a total revamp is required to keep JavaScript afloat, while others believe that the death of JavaScript will allow newer, more optimized engines to be developed and brought to the world's attention. I tagged this article as economics simply for that last point. Browser engines such as JavaScript and Flash have been around for quite awhile, with no threats to their status in sight. JavaScript is in no way broken, and it is still a very viable tool for web development. However, it may take the death of JavaScript and perhaps Flash for companies to be inspired to build from the ground up a new engine that will pick up all the short comings of the past years and completely rid of them.
