Google's location-aware pocket tour guide app Field Trip comes to iOS - The Next Web - 0 views

  •
This article is about a location-aware Field Trip tour guide app for iOS. You can now download it from the apple app store. Previously, the app was only available for Android, arriving back in September 2012. Field Trip runs in the background on your phone, triangulating position via cell phone towers, and only notifies you when "get close to something interesting." This can include anything local businesses, historical facts, landmarks, art, or culture. You select the local feeds you like and the information pops up on your phone automatically as you move about. You can discover thousands of interesting places/experiences that fall under the following categories: Architecture, Historic Places & Events, Lifestyle, Offers & Deals, Food Drinks & Fun, Movie Locations, Outdoor Art and Obscure Places of Interest around you. Field Trip can detect when you're driving and automatically "talk" about interesting places and experience around you. I think that this is a cool app and should be used while you go on trips so that you can see all the places around you and choose where you want to go.

The app also has "thumb kiss" feature that vibrates the phone when they both touch the same part of the phone. This app is available for iPhones. Bump Pay is an app that allows you to pay others by simply "bumping" your phones together. You would pay them using PayPal. Fuze HD is an video conference app that allows others to have a video chat with up to ten people on at once. You could  also send text, images, and other media during the presentation. Babble for Android is a language app. It has over 3000 vocabulary words, sounds, images, speech recognition and a personalized review manager for multiple languages. MTA on Meridian is a app that you can use to browse art of particular line or plan your own transit system art tour. Paper is a new app that allows people to draw diagrams and sketches and shared them with others on the web. This article is about how the next generation consoles will have the ability to interact with smartphones and tablets so that players can always stay connected to their games. Large publisher Electronic Arts has decided to share a few details about the next gen consoles. Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgenson quoted; "I do think once again without describing the new consoles, you've got to assume they're going to be highly integrated into peoples homes, and there will be a lot of capability for interaction."He also went on to explain that the new consoles will allow the players to interact with them not just through their controllers but also through tablets and smartphones. He quoted; "I think it's going to be an extension of moving from whats in the living room, to whats outside of the house. Even though it might not be playing on the console, it's connected to the console in some way.

Haze: Turn Your Weather Forecast Into Psychedelic Art - 0 views

  •
This is an app where you can make the weather look much better on your screen which is available on iTunes. Not only does it show you the temperature or weather outside but it also shows you the hours of sun, temperature a the chance of precipitation.  You can click on one of the bubble and it will have an enlarged view of the particular data  with more details.  An example of this would be : tapping on a temperature bubble and shows high-low feel of temperature as well as wind speed and direction.  Each of the three screens show you a five-day forecast for each of the three metrics across the top. The colour and flow at the back of the screen depends on which way the weather is trending. The little wind direction points  the right way using iPhone's compass.

Transparent smartphone prototype is clearly cool | Crave - CNET - 0 views

  •
A Taiwanese company, Polytron Technologies, has developed a new smart phone that is completely transparent. Although this device is a mere prototype, it is a promising look into the future of smartphone technology. It consists of all the features of current smartphones, such as SD card support, speakers, a microphone and battery, but the clear display is what has many people in awe. Polytron calls this new technology Switchable Glass technology which allows the phone to look completely opaque when not in use and transparent when powered on. This technology functions based on the behaviour and properties of liquid crystal molecules in certain conditions. In the coming years we will most likely see this technology being introduced into smart devices if it proves to be a success. No longer will smartphones be thin, black or white rectangles, but rather they will be transparent works of art. In the coming future we may be thanking Polytron Technologies for their brilliant advancement in smartphone technology.

Official: Apple iPad 3 event slated for March 7th in San Francisco | The Verge - 0 views

  •
Well, I bet no one saw this one coming! /s  So yes, the new iPad will probably be announced on March 7. People are speculating that it will have double the screen resolution of the iPad and iPad 2 (which can be worrying because it brings more fragmentation into the app store), along with the Quad-Core A5X processor. It's also speculated that this may not have a Home Button, which I really hope does not happen.. Using those multitouch gestures to get back to the homescreen will be a pain in apps that actually use multitouch. It is also said that it will have 4G LTE, which is nice.
  •
Well, I'm guessing time is almost over for selling your iPad 2. March 7th the new iPad 3 is coming out. What makes this ipad much greater is that it has no regular display as the old ipad. It has a higher resolution than the ipad 1 and 2. Apparently it is much darker than the current ipads that are in stock. This is probably going to turn out to be the world's most popular tablet.
  •
Sir, are you going to go to this event? I bet he secretly will.. OFFICIALS SAY THAT THE IPAD THREE EVENT IS SAID FOR MARCH 7TH IN SAN FRANCISCO! The event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in S.F at 10AM PST, on Wednesday March 7th, and it will be filmed covers live as it happens. The iPad three will have a higher resolution than the iPad 1 & 2. They say that the product picture looks darker than current iPad models. Many cannot wait till this product comes out. WELL I WAS JUST INFORMED THAT IT CAME OUT TODAY!

Custom 3D-printed kayak is a homemade work of art | Cutting Edge - CNET News - 0 views

  •
I am sharing this article as my wildcard for week 4. I found this article to be interesting because it helps show what is possible with 3d printing. A man named Jim Smith 3D printed himself a kayak over 1000 hours of printing time. Although this technology is not the fastest it shows me what is possible with 3d printing. We now live in an age where we can 3d print whatever it is we want for a exceptionally low cost as compared to purchasing it. If I could afford it I would 3d print more items and I find it to be a very interesting piece of technology.

Comcast, Abercrombie, Chase Victorious In First Day Of Worst Company Competition! - Con... - 0 views

  •
Once again it is a race for the worst company in the United States of America. The matchups are good but Electronic Arts will be going for the win as they have won the last two years and are now going for the hat-trick. EA has been delaying a lot of games and has had plenty of launch problems. Who will the winner be?

Apple iPhone 4S: The Unboxing - 0 views

  •
There is a certain joy in unboxing virtually any gadget for the first time, but Apple raised the event to an art form with its always stylish packaging. The Apple iPhone 4S box, though, doesn't mark any new style breakthroughs. Apple's signature white box is a doppelganger for the iPhone 4 packaging. Inside, the phone looks and feels like the previous iPhone 4. This gallery's comparison photos bear that out. Setup, though is a bit different, thanks to iOS 5. There's a large, gray-patterned "Welcome" screen and that motif carries through until you have the phone ready to go. Those of you who downloaded the mobile operating system on Oct. 12 and updated your older devices are probably already familiar with these screens.

Iris Is (Sort Of) Siri For Android | TechCrunch - 0 views

  •
Voice control has been part of Android smartphone's since "the dawn of time," and then the superior Siri came along and the android voice control is becoming history.  However, an industrious team of folks from Dexetra.com, led by Narayan Babu, built a Siri-alike in just 8 hours during a hackathon, namely Iris[Siri backwards]) Iral allows you to search various subjects ranging from conversations to art.  "You can ask it "What is a fish?" and it will reply with a paragraph from Wikipedia focusing on our finned friends." Although initially created as a humorous idea, the application' worth was starting to show while they were designing it and the app itself will be available to the Android Market.

Google Easter Egg Brings a White Christmas to Your Web Browser | Webmonkey | Wired.com - 0 views

Everyone who has Google Chrome must of seen this coming. If you were to type in "let it snow" in the search box, the search results page will begin to fill up with frost and snow. Oh, but i'm not done yet. Once your screen is starting to fill up with snow, you can draw on it, IT'S JUST LIKE MAKING A SNOW ANGEL BUT ON THE COMPUTER! And when you want to clear the frost away, you can click the "defrost" button. If you want more easter eggs from Google, you can type in "DO A BARREL ROLE" (FROM STAR FOX) causing your screen to spin. Also check out "TILT" "ASCII ART" AND "RECURSION"

Mechs illustrated: the killer suits of 'Titanfall' | The Verge - 0 views

  •
Titanfall the most anticipated game of 2013 and 2014. Ever since it was revealed at E3 there has been craze over this Microsoft exclusive game. For some this game looked like a Call Of Duty because the owner of Respawn Entertainment made Call Of Duty 4. This game is a fresh look to the FPS (first person shooter) genre as the titans are powerful but not overpowered. As for my experience with the game I have participated in the closed beta it is the greatest FPS game I have ever played in my life. All I can say is on March 11 I will be calling my titan in!

Facebook, It's Time To Kill the Poke - 0 views

  •
Apparently Facebook has hid the Poke button behind the settings menu making it pretty unlikely for visitors to see it on your profile. The sad thing is that Facebook users haven't noticed.  The problem is that nobody knows what the Poke button is used for. Some think its used for flirting or saying hello. In my opinion, I would rather just send a message to them instead of poking them.  Pokes are a waste of time.
