      Sadly, according to this county website, technology programs are offered during non-school hours. Of course, this does not account for the good that is going on in individual schools in the district.

      With my daughter being a recent UCF graduate in Elementary Education, she has given me insight on her internship experiences in Marion County Schools. In her opinion, she noticed that if and when technology and media resources were available, the teachers did, in fact, make use of them in the classroom. This is definitely encouraging to me.

    STEM stands for the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. The elementary schools in Lake County participate in an annual STEM Bowl Competition. During the competition students from each team work collaboratively to answer Mathematics and Science questions. These questions culminate in a final STEM problem based performance activity.

The Impact of a Technology Coordinator's Belief System Upon Using Technology to Create a Community's History - 1 views

    In the article, it states that, "teachers of social studies content are less likely than teachers of other content areas to utilize technology in their classroom." This research study (carried out by a UCF faculty member) focuses on how a technology coordinators' beliefs towards technology, instruction, and students impacted how technology was used during a technology-enriched project with a group of fourth grade students. It was found that the coordinator's beliefs did in fact directly impact how technology was used.
