"How would you go about converting a face to face course to an elearning format?" Specifically: What are the criteria for determining if a face to face course actually is convertible to elearning? Assuming the course is convertible, what are the considerations when determining whether synchronous or asynchronous elearning is best? Several professionals in the Learning industry want to convert their f2f courses into an eLearning format. However, several of them do the same mistake again and again. They believe that by simply moving their content such as PowerPoint presentations, videos, audios, and documents to a Learning Management System that they have converted their face to face courses to an eLearning format. In my opinion, they have convert their traditional courses to an electronic format. In this post I will present you the TOP 5 tips to Convert your Traditional Course into an eLearning format.

Are your employees actually learning from technology-based training programs? Much has been written about the technology of training. The story-line is often the same: companies are champing at the bit for the opportunity to exercise the latest training technologies in an effort to reach employees effectively while reducing costs. This trend is understandable. Technology has made training much more convenient, an essential factor for global enterprises that need to train employees across the world. Instead of supersizing the travel budget to bring employees to the home office or other training center, technology can help trim their bottom line by pushing training out into the regional offices. But are their employees better trained as a result of this technological boom? With companies fast abandoning traditional instructor-lead training in favor of tech-based training, it is increasingly important to ensure that technology remains the training messenger rather than becoming the message.

Writing test questions for eLearning courses I am trying to improve my skills in writing effective multiple choice test questions. It seems an area that takes a fair amount of time and effort to learn how to do well! I have researched and read a great deal of information which is helpful, but I am wondering if anyone from the group has advice, helpful hints or suggestions on writing test questions.

eLearning 101 Part 3: Development Roles This section includes the roles and responsibilities that are included during the development process. Some roles are mandatory during any course development process, while other roles may be optional depending on the needs of the course. All roles should be identified and assigned at the beginning of the project. Every person involved in the project should be notified at the beginning of the project of his or her role. Note: one person may have multiple roles. It is a good standard of practice to form a committee to identify the roles and expectations of each team member and to have each person accept their role in writing to ensure they understand the requirements of the position. How would you put together an eLeanring portfolio of work samples when all your work has been proprietary/confidential? I need to create some materials in PowerPoint and Captivate to display my skills to potential clients, but it all has to be "fictional" as I can't use the work I've done previously. If you've been in the same boat, how do you pick your topics, based on the skills you want to highlight? Would you pick an existing program and create a tutorial for it? Work on a basic topic like choosing a car? What's worked best for you in impressing a potential client?

For me it was not a surprise that Epignosis eFront LMS won the Best of Elearning! 2012 Award at the Best Open Source Solution category. It wasn't a surprise that left to Moodle and Totara LMS the Award of Excellence. eFront is by far the best Open Source Learning Management System and it seems that several professionals involved in the eLearning industry have the same opinion. I've seen a couple of recommendations for tools and software on here seperately. I'm a freelance Instructional Designer, in my first year as an independent. I'm finding tools here and there, as I'm trying to minimize operating costs where possible. Individually it seems that many ID's and consultants have their favorite go-to tools that they know. I think it would be really great for us to pull together a list of free ID tools into one area. For example, someone in this group recommend Jing as an alternative to Snagit. As an eLearning developer it is important that you are able to effectively communicate the benefits and features of the eLearning developer's program. Being able to describe the value of the program and your development skills will ensure that you gain the support of your supervisors, peers and intended audience. Think about the value of the course(s) you are creating and communicate this value to your team.
