How would you put together an eLeanring portfolio of work samples when all your work has been proprietary/confidential? I need to create some materials in PowerPoint and Captivate to display my skills to potential clients, but it all has to be "fictional" as I can't use the work I've done previously. If you've been in the same boat, how do you pick your topics, based on the skills you want to highlight? Would you pick an existing program and create a tutorial for it? Work on a basic topic like choosing a car? What's worked best for you in impressing a potential client?

Open source Learning Management Systems have become extremely popular in recent years, but what does open source mean? Open Source technology is technology where the source code is "open", that is, the code is available to the public and free to be modified. Improvements can be made by developers and it can be spread or sold to the wider community. So, why should an organization choose an open source Learning Management System as opposed to a homegrown or proprietary LMS?
