Going the Last Learning Mile with LINGOs - 0 views

  •
Last Mile Learning is a key initiative of LINGOs (Learning in NGOs), a not-for-profit NGO. LINGOs' vision is for anyone working to reduce poverty and alleviate suffering in the developing world to have access to world-class learning opportunities at little or no cost. about LingosThe "last mile" concept originated in the telecommunications/cable industry. The "last mile" is the final leg of delivering connectivity from a communications provider to a customer. This last mile is a logistical challenge because mapping the final destination wires and cables to remote rural areas without an existing structure of connectivity is physically rigorous. The "last mile" idea also applies to serving areas in need of humanitarian relief. Aid supplies are sometimes able to reach a central transport hub in an affected area but need the additional planning and networking to get resources transferred to those pockets of need without waste, loss, or misdirection. With LINGOs' Last Mile Learning, educational resources reach those critically in need, capitalizing on existing intellectual capital, goodwill and efficiencies of scale.

Camtasia Studio for E-learning: Common Myths Exposed - 0 views

  •
One of the greatest struggles I see with Instructional Designers is trying decide which rapid authoring tool to purchase and spend their limited time learning. Generally, it's a choice between Articulate, Captivate and Camtasia Studio with Camtasia running a distant third (unless software demos make up the bulk of the training). In the past I would have agreed that Camtasia would not have been my first choice for true e-learning but with the two most recent releases of this software I've found it to be the perfect tool for not just software demos but also soft skills and compliance training. If you'd like to see some of the e-learning I've developed with Camtasia Studio over the past couple of years Please join me, Camtasia specialist Lon Naylor and Elearningindustry.com/ site founder Christopher Pappas on Sept 25th for a free Webinar called "Camtasia Studio 8 E-learning Case Studies". E-learning in Italy needs to run - 0 views

  •
E-learning in Italy needs to run... Which phase is e-learning experiencing? Wait. In Italy or in the World? Well, not exactly the same thing. However, we can evaluate both cases. We could start from the rest of the world, and then see where we're in common and where we step into the Stone Age. Or worse. The great nineteenth century philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer said that "All truth passes through three stages. First is ridiculed. Then meets a violent opposition. Finally, it is accepted as obvious." Arthur Schopenhauer Which phase is e-learning experiencing? Wait. In Italy or in the World? Well, not exactly the same thing. However, we can evaluate both cases. Exploring the layers of social learning - 0 views

  •
Exploring the layers of social learning by Julian Stodd We used to live in two worlds: the workplace, which was a formal and restricted environment, typified by moderated messages and codified behaviours that fitted within defined parameters of 'acceptable', and then the social world, which was unrestricted and expressive, ranging from conversations in the pub to heated debates about politics, religion and which cocktail to order next. These worlds were separate, colliding only at moments of misjudged intra-office relationships and the alcohol-fuelled miscommunication of the office Christmas party. But no more. The world has changed under us and there is no formal and social divide. We inhabit a grey space of 'social', where people answer office emails from the bath and use Facebook in meetings. That photograph of the holiday in Ibiza will haunt you in your next job interview and the post about how much you hate your boss has just gone global thanks to a misjudged retweet. But what does social mean for learning? How can we tune into the levels of engagement that we see, how can we enrich for formal learning experience? How can we add a meaningful social layer around our work?
