I do believe there is much more technology to come, but the question could be will the school districts be prepared. As far as I know the school district that we work at still needs much more work to be done, there are only a few students who have access to the latest technology.
AMAZING!!!! The way they show the use of technology is great, but scary at the same time. I can see how useful this can be, but if we keep being so behind in most of the classrooms there will only be a few people who will be really prepared for this. I hope all of our children can have access to this amazing world.
I know what you mean. Most of the time we have so many things to introduced and yes I use technology to do so, but I do not have as much time to let children use it by themselves. I also have a hard time since I do not have the all the hardware needed for children to interact with the technology. I believe that we should have an allocation of time so the technology can be adequately used by the children.
WOW I will have to say thank you Adriana! I did not know we had access to this site, I had seen the librarian use it though. It is so convenient specially when you have students researching a given topic. This site does not through you off as the internet wide pages do. Even though this is a page that we should know I notice that I am not the only one that had nor been in contact with it before. I hope to use it much more now.
I really liked the article, I know in my district technology is way behind and even though we got new computers a few years ago those are useless. The system is many times slow and is not strong enough when we need it. About 2 months ago they tried to run a test with having students input answers all at once and the system crash. We do need to use the money on the technology, because everything revolves around it.
I was also born during the internet boom, but did not have the technology available in my home. Children now a days do have it everywhere, so they are now immersed in technology. I have been learning to manipulate technology much more during this two semesters then in my whole life. I am much more comfortable using technology now and as I learn my children are learning.
Last week we got inspired with Shannon's discussion, now we should reflect on how becoming an MTT has change you. Before starting this program I did not have an idea of how technology could be used properly in the classroom. I thought just playing radio or using the old school projector will was consider high tech. Discuss about what this journey has taught you and how has it change you?
Shannon, I see now why this discussions are set up even though I had a hard time reaching it and had to ask for help from a peer, I did learn something totally new from your video. I had no idea what TED meant, but now that I know I can become more resourceful with technology in my classroom and school. I think most of us have once said or talked about all the technology resources we are missing, but this video is showing us that what we need to do is to get up and make a change. I found this video at edutopia that i hope will help all us get some new ideas for our classrooms.
