Showbeyond is a resource that I came across while I was teaching my journalism students how to create a photo essay. Even though I just randomly stumbled across this resource it has proven to be a wonderfully simple to use slide cast program. Slide casts are an online multimedia format that combines and synchronizes slideshows with podcasts. I have found this format perfect for online story telling as well as online presentations. I think Showbeyond is a resource more fit for middle and high school students and educators. Showbeyond allows students and educators to design and create multimedia presentations easily and quickly.
Showbeyond is a resource that lets you select and manipulate photos and text to create a visual presentation which you can add podcasts, music, and videos to. I chose Showbeyond because I don't think you can find a more accessible multimedia to create simple presentations on. I say simple because Showbeyond is not capable of some the more advanced features such as animation and timed slides like PowerPoint and MovieMaker are capable of. However, I do use Showbeyond in my classroom often and my students really enjoy the products that they can create.
Google groups provides a wide range of robust tools that are useful for essential and generative learning. Specifically, the online presentation tool mimics PowerPoint but is capable of allowing online collaboration and sharing. The presentation promotes essential learning because users can produce presentations that help to organize content. Generative learning is also possible if users provide the presentations to learners for them to markup or develop further with their own ideas. I chose this tool because it is part of a reputable site and offers a wide variety of tools.
Dr. Barrett's (n.d.) webpage presents an introduction to the types of ePortfolios in a learner-centered approach. The website requires cognitive activity and capitalizes on the use of multimedia to present the essential content; and it does so following instructional design principles as recommended by Mayer (2009). Beginning with an anticipatory set to activate the learner's prior knowledge, the lesson page begins by asking learners to think about their own personal use of portfolios. Immediately following, the essential material elements are presented in a cartoon image, capitalizing on the benefits of dual coding (Id.), using both images and key words to help learners pay attention and select appropriate information. The image also relies on spatial contiguity (Id.) in its presentation format. This webpage itself would fit into Mayer's (Id.) use of multimedia as "information acquisition." However, coupled with a reflective activity, learners would be able to make more integrated sense of the types of portfolios available and which types would be most suited for their particular needs.

Prezi is a cloud-based presentation program which was created during 2009 by Peter Arvai (prezi, 2014). Due to its intuitive nature, educators and learners can use prezi to organize information to promote knowledge construction for finding meaning to complex problems. Knowing that prezi Presentations promote active learning, I will use this program as one of the three artifacts for my multimedia workshop on flipped classroom instruction.
The classroom is a dynamic environment with a huge variety of opportunities for showcasing what has been learned in professional development. Sure, writing a lesson plan or a reflection may indicate how well the participant has benefited from PD course material, but to gain an authentic look into what the students are now capable of doing as a result of the teacher's professional development a web 2.0 tool may be more appropriate. An authentic assessment option is the glog. The glog is a way for educators to share what the students have learned and how the objectives from a PD course have been integrated into daily instruction. Plus, students love the multimedia interface and easy to use tools.
Brief description of what it allows you to do and how it can be used for essential or generative learning: You create an online posted with interactive features...sound, text, video, flash animations. This is a great product tool for assessment because it hosts all types of input as previously mentioned. You can also provide links to outside sites.

Demonstrates creativity and allows the user to incorporate multiple items (i.e. text, pictures, videos, links, sounds).
Site lets users create online, multimedia "posters" about a desired topic. This site could function for pre-learning at either the essential or generative level, depending upon the content added to the presentation. At the essential level, users could post samples and important terms. At the generative, prompts or questions could be included to promote application of knowledge. The site is reasonably easy to learn and free, and users can include images, text, graphics, audio, or video elements, making for a complete multimedia presentation.
Glogster is an alternative to the typical two-dimensional posters and PowerPoints that have been the staple of research projects for years. "Glogs" are posters that students can create online to demonstrate their learning about a variety of topics using many different types of media to present their information. This tool definitely allows for active cognitive learning as students are able to choose not only the content to add to their Glog, but also the forms of media to be used on that Glog. The student can choose to use video, sound, pictures, and many other media forms to present content, but they have to remember not to overcrowd their Glog with too much information or too much media.
This online tool lets you create a poster with embedded video, audio, images and text.
I have yet to explore this web tool, so I am choosing it to force myself to experience a powerful and engaging learning tool for my presentation.

Glogster EDU is a collaborative online learning platform for teachers and students to express their creativity, knowledge, ideas and skills in the classroom. This is an education-safe online environment where teachers can add classes to assign projects using Glogster. Students can use this multimedia tool to explore presentations previously made on a variety of subjects and topics, as well as creating their own glogs.
Glogster allows learners to create an interactive poster, in which they post images, text, music and videos. They can also include links to other websites, including other glogs, to make their project more comprehensive. When used to create a project, this is a deeply learner-centered technology, as it requires a great deal of both behavioral and cognitive activity. Viewing it as part of the workshop will require both kinds of activity as well.
Zoho is a free online tool to create presentations that look like PowerPoint presentations. You can create slides, add graphics, sounds, and videos.
I like this resource because it is free, easy to use, and creates great looking presentations that can be shared.
Viddix allows you to connect all kinds of web content to your videos. You can really interact with your audience and deliver your messages more effectively. Upload your video and support notes, images, etc. VIDDIX is great for presentations, pitches, lectures and a lot more. Teachers can show slides next to a video lecture, can offer a PDF download with extra information or study guide, and allows student bloggers to ask a question which can be answered instantly by his viewers using a poll. In this Prezi, Pappas (2011) has designed a presentation that prompts the viewer to think about the reflective culture of a school. Coupled with the content in Pappas' (2010, January) blog series, "A Taxonomy of Reflection: Critical Thinking for Students, Teachers and Principals," a learner-centered orientation to the process and importance of reflection in schools and learning is achieved. Embedded in the presentation itself are prompts to gain viewers' attention and provide opportunities to consider questions relevant to the content. As noted by Mayer (Laureate Education, 2010), the effectiveness of a technology is based on its application, guided by instructional method. While Prezi is receiving a lot of enthusiasm as an alternative to Power Point, effective use of this tool still relies on the designers' ability to create content that will effectively promote learning.

Youtube is a site that gives the user the opportunities to post videos about almost anything online. It is a video sharing website where users can upload and share videos. I chose this as a resource because it has a large resource of information that can be used for teaching purposes. Youtube makes posting and searching for videos simply because it is very easy to use.
Through YouTube you can share with your participants examples of work they they will be creating. YouTube is one of the better choices for watching movies since it has the largest collection of videos online. There are many other video websites available on the Internet, but YouTube is the most popular. Showing videos from YouTube is an example of essential learning since you are showing the participants what is essential to a good digital story.
You Tube- This website allows a presenter to create a video or power point and upload it to the Internet for anyone to view. Most videos are simple to upload though uploading power points are a bit more tricky. This video sharing site allows the presentor to share information that is necessary for the course participants to know before the course begins. I like this as a pretraining site because it is easy to access in most locations. However most K-12 educational facilities block this site due to some inappropraite submissions. Course participants must make sure that they are able to access You Tube prior to the beginning of the course.
YouTube is a wonderful tool to use in creating presentations. It is also very helpful in finding other presentations, demonstrations, and tutorials. I think teachers would benefit from the many demonstrations and examples of Student Response Systems being used during my workshop. YouTube is very easy to navigate and easy to upload ones own videos.
This site is a great tool for uploading and sharing videos. Youtube is industry standard for video sharing. It is reliable, offers multiple formats uploads and offers privacy. I would recommend that teachers use this site to upload final dance video projects or use Just Dance videos on the site to have student analyze other dancers. I would not recommend comments unless the user approved them first.
Youtube allows trainers to post pre-training video clips to introduce learners to ideas and information that they need to know before the actual training occurs. The site gives the trainer a location to post videos then allows the trainees to view the information at their own pace.
YouTube is a great pre-training tool for learners to do a little research about their upcoming topic. However, it may be best to send out the links to learners in advance so they are not overloaded or misinformed. This site has proven to be a great place for the discerning learner to find valuable "how-to" advice and instructions. I fixed my automatic sliding door on the family minivan for free the other day!
YouTube is a multimedia website that houses videos. Videos on this site can be viewed and shared through emailing links or embedding videos into blogs, wikis, or websites. It is extremely easy to navigate and search for videos on any content. Home made videos can also be easily uploaded and shared in minutes.
YouTube is the choice again, but this time for assessment purposes. YouTube is the most popular of the hosting sites and is the one student's are currently most familiar with. After a video has been developed, edited, and stored in a computer, YouTube offers a place to store your video online. Along with this, it automatically delivers an embedding code for the creators to embed into a movie widget of the presentation venue chosen for disclosure which is essential for evaluation. Furthermore, video in these online presentation venues work for generative learning by allowing for comments and more multimedia by connecting to other relevant knowledge.
YouTube and TeacherTube both house produced videos ready for embedding into various multimedia venues. They have search options for locating promotion and how-to videos that can certainly be used for essential and generative learning. The primary difference is that TeacherTube is meant for educational professionals. Capabilities are to spark initial interest with promotional video(s) and to complete necessary account logistics for pre-training to practical use. A free account can be set-up by anyone.
What it is: YouTube provides millions of free videos on every topic imaginable. However, in addition to finding videos, YouTubes new video editor allows users to create their own videos as well.
Why it's better: YouTube provides a user-friendly interface that most are familiar with. Videos, images, sounds, text, and photos can all be combined to create instant videos that provide prior knowledge to students. All videos under 15 minutes are free. Since YouTube is a part of Google, all items are synced with your Google account. While there are many other free video creation tools available, YouTube truly does provide an easier experience.
YouTube offers users the opportunity to compile their work in the form of a video. One feature of YouTube is the capability of adding closed caption. Videos can be used for essential and generative learning because it provides a platform for learners to authentically demonstrate their understanding of the content.
What it does: It allows you to create a collage of pictures that scroll horizontally across the screen. It allows for links and embedded videos as well.
Why this one: One version of it is free. It is simple and easy to use. It maintains interest as the photos scroll across the screen and seems to eliminate many of the possible extraneous material that is sometimes easily added to a multimedia presentation. The rate and flow of the scrolling is user controlled.
Learning benefits: Text can be added, but this application is an excellent example of how "A picture paints a thousand words," and how a learner can generate their own interpretation and message from the presentation.

Use express to build presentations with dynamic content from RSS feeds and online albums. Tap into Cut-out Express to use your photos as frames for slideshows. Vuvox is user friendly with a fast layout and customization of photos, video, text and music. It is easy to add media hotspots, narrate interactivity, and publish to any webpage.
This is a presentation creation program on the web that allows the addition of images and text in different ways, such as collage. There is a limited free version and the program is easy to use.
This is one of two sites that I will be using in my Graphic Organizer and Presentation. This site is a compilation of various astronomy resources, games, and presentations for kids. I love it because it has very bright graphics and is easy to navigate. This will be the introduction to the Solar System which will give the students information to use in their authentic assessment. They can view this via my laptop with the LCD Projector and a large screen. Although it will be a visual or graphic, it will also be part of the presentation. The graphic organizer will be the actual tabs that will show pictures of the different planets and then we will click on each planet to view more information which will be needed in the authentic assessment. This Web 2.0 tool is a pseudo-moving making tool using JPEG slides to make videos. This tool will come in handy in two respects. The first to make promo videos advertising the presentation. This will give possible attendees the chance to see what the presentations will entail. This would also be a good reminder since the workshop is split into five different presentations. The second way that this tool can be used is basic how to videos. Because the graphics move a little fast on this tool, the how to videos will have to be very brief and taks specific. Jing or Vimeo might be better options for how to videos.
Camtasia studio is a screen recorder and editor for Windows. Camtasia can be used to create videos and creat professional looking presentations. Through Camtasia you can record onscreen activity, edit professional screen cast video and share it anywhere. It allows you to enhance your presentation with templates and editing tools. I like that you can try Camtasia free for 30 days and allows you to create professional presentations and share with anyone.
Glogster creates interactive posters and allows for collaboration. The basic site is free but to access more features you have to pay.Videos can be embedded into the interactive posters as well as links. Once a Glog is created the Glog can be embedded into wikis,blogs, twitter, Facebook, and presentations. Glogs can also be emailed.Glogs can be used to integrate and organize information to be presented and allows the creator to creatively present and organize their information.
Museum Box is a great tool for Social Studies teachers and teachers of other content areas. A free tool, it allows teachers and students to create "boxes" of artifacts and information about a topic of their choosing. The focus is on cognitive activity on a student-focused level since users have to think through which artifacts and information would be most effective in terms of presenting the most valuable information about a topic of their own choosing. Even if the teacher assigns the topic to the student, it is still up to the student to choose which items to put in the box. I can see this tool working for Social Studies teachers as a way for their students to present what they have learned about a particular topic, but I can also see it being useful in my English Language Arts classroom as a way for my students to present information about the time period in which a novel occurs.
