Sliderocket's free version can be used to create vivid online presentations for assessments. It promotes generative learning because students can use it to present final products that reflect their understanding. I chose this site because of the flexibility avaiable for its presentations and its reputable nature.
  •
Slide Rocket allows the user to create new PowerPoint style presentation or to import presentations from PowerPoint. These presentations can be shared and the site keeps track of how many users are viewing the presentation and how it is being shared. Because it allows the user to use existing presentations, it also eliminates the need for a single computer to be able to edit the presentation.
  •
Using SlideRocket gives users the advantage of importing simple presentations and creating animated slideshows. SlideRocket offers professional level tools unavailable thorough other presentation websites. By starting with simple concepts and linking them together between slides, workshop participants get a clear pre-training introduction to difficult production content.

Bubbl.us - 0 views

Bubbl.us is a very simple brainstorming/mindmapping tool. In my workshop (Using Wikis in Education) I will use the graphic organizer as a pre-training tool to introduce the purposes for using a wiki in education. This will be a good tool for essential processing because the learners will be exposed to key concepts before the main learning event takes place. The learners will be given the key concepts in the primary nodes in the mindmap as the categories under which they will classify their new learning. Bubbl.us allows the learner to map out ideas and make connections. I liked this site because the mindmap was simple to create and it could be easily exported as a JPEG file. The only drawback is that I wish that it had the ability to import pictures/graphics and notes.

RubiStar (Authentic Assessment Activities) - 2 views

  •
The purpose of this site is to create many different kinds of rubrics. A workshop participant can use a rubric to determine how much they learned during the workshop and self-assess if they have met the workshop's objectives. This site is exemplary because it leads the user step-by-step through the creation of a rubric. The site contains templates for all subject areas. Users can also search for and use rubrics that have already been created.

RubiStar is a website that I have been using as a classroom teacher for year to create well designed and well worded rubrics. It is a simple free website that allows you to choose from a long list of pre-created categories. Final products can be downloaded and further enhance in a word processing program. The rubric created will be an example of essential learning because through the rubric the leaner will have better understanding of what is required of their digital story.
  •
RubiStar is a resource which provides users to design and individualize rubrics for classroom use. This tool is very easy to use, where you have access to templates and publicly posted rubrics of others. Essential learning can take place through the learner being aware of course/project requirements and expectations. I have used this resource many times in both my classroom, with parents and for assignments and have enjoyed the available templates and examples.
  •
Rubistar is a free site that allows the user to either create their own rubric or view and adapt an existing rubric. The library of existing rubrics is lengthy and best searched by topic and date. I have utilized the site many times to create a rubric for PBL lessons and real life lessons taught within the curriculum. I prefer this site over others as it is easy to use and provides the option for a printed hard copy to be used during the project.
  •
Since the final product of the workshop will be to draw a portrait, this site allows teachers to create rubrics to evaluate the finished portraits.
  •
Rubistar is a well-known rubric creation site. The site is at the generative level, as users are required to create their own categories and criteria for assessing products. At the essential level, teachers can browse through thousands of rubrics created by other educators to see how they might appear and be applied. The site is useful because it is fairly intuitive to learn and because it leverages the shared products of its members.
  •
This is an excellent site to develop or take idea about how asses any project using or assigning criteria focused on what is actually measured.
  •
Rubi Star - This site allows teachers to create rubrics for various types of assignments (writing, performatnce assessments, projects for groups or individuals). This site easy very simple to use. The user can choose from premade rubrics or create ones of their own. What make this site even better is that is has an on site tutorial for new users.
  •
*Create assessment rubrics *Brief explanation of why you found this site to be better than others you found (e.g., more effective, creates better products, easier to use, and so on)
  •
Rubric creator for making quality rubrics for learning. Easy to use with templates and pre-determined number scaling descriptors based on subject.
  •
RubiStar is a tool that allows users to create rubrics online that can then be downloaded, printed, or shared online. The user can choose from a variety of products to create rubrics for in addition to choosing which categories will be scored and the descriptors for each category. This tool would be useful in the workshop for creating a rubric to show participants the expectations for their final product. As a teacher, I have used this tool many times to create rubrics for student assignments, so I can attest to its ease of use and the quality of rubrics it can be used to create.
  •
This free rubric creator allows educators to create rubrics aligned to the content that is being taught, for students to self assess their performance, and for students to assess the quality of instruction received. This site provides step by step directions through the creation of the rubric as well as the option for users to search and modify rubrics that have already been created.
  •
    * This site aids in the creation of Rubrics which allows both grading and a guide for authentic learning activities. This site is better than many of the other tools and templates in that tool is easy to understand and easy to use. There are many templates to choose from allowing the teacher to make more informed choices for assessment.
  •
This site is a must see for all educators who are creating problem based learning or projects. Teachers can create their own template or use the read- made templates. The file can be exported for use or saved for future editing.
  •
    * Brief description of Web site: A free tool to help users (i.e. educators) create quality rubrics. Registered users can save and edit rubrics online. They can also access these created rubrics from any location. * Brief explanation of why you found this site to be better than others you found: Besides the fact that this is a free resource, users have the option of using templates provided by the site or creating their rubric from scratch. The site also offers step by step tutorials.

Google Docs: Presentation - 0 views

Google docs is a great way to merge existing documents, with the ability to create and organize documents online. It is better than a lot of other options because it is free, and transfers across computer platforms.

We are all familiar with Google Docs. It can be used to place documents, spreadsheets, presentations, drawings, and forms to share during presentations. I like this because it is so easy and free! Documents can also be edited by students.
  •
After creating a slide show it can be shared publicly with people. People who are viewing the presentation can also chat about it on the side. Google Docs is an easier program to share documents with, due to Google's popularity more people have are familiar with the features, and it allows for simple sharing and collaboration of ideas. The chat feature during the presentation will allow for participants to be responding to their new learning with others in the room. Google Docs and the chat feature while sharing a slide show is an example of generative learning because it is allowing for deeper understanding through collaboration.
  •
Google docs is a web based productivity platform that allows the creation of documents, spreadsheets, diagrams and forms. Multiple users can access files simultaneously, allow for collaboration.
  •
Google has a ton of free resources that have the same functionality as Powerpoint or Keynote. One of the great components of Google Docs is the ability to collaborate with others through real time chat or make comments/revisions to a document. For a presentation, Google Docs has a presentation tool that is easy to use, free, and accessible from any location with an internet connection. Although the presentations are not flashy, they help teachers incorporate multimedia into their instruction and make the technology accessible for all of their students.

Blackboard Quick Tutorials: Adding Content. - 0 views

  •
This narrated video tour introduces the learner on how to add content areas to Blackboard. I was a highly proficient user of the old Blackboard, and this was the hardest area for me to adjust to in learning Blackboard Learn because it was very different, and had many more options than previously. There are few non-manufacturer resources available because of the newness of this version of the platform.

YouTube can be used to show me teaching the students how to make their own Photostory. Sometimes educators want to see how new technology can be taught to students. Seeing, for some, is believing. Youtube used in this way is student centered because the technology is used to dual code information that is being taught. (Mayer, 2008)
  •
During the beginning of the workshop, participants will be watching two short videos posted on YouTube to introduce the rationale behind using Edmodo and show them key features. The videos will be engaging the learner on a cognitive level as they begin to reflect on how this applies to them and formulate ways they can utilize Edmodo in their classroom. At this point in the workshop, the participants will be behaviorally inactive.

Module 1 Multimedia-SMART Board Training Videos Smarttech-http://downloads01.smarttech.com/media/trainingcenter/flash/tutorials/display_frame_basics/display_frame_basics.htm This Smarttech video presentation is a tutorial that introduces and teaches teachers the basic steps on how to use a SMART Board. The video uses a learner-centered approach to technology because according to Mayer, it does "compliment human abilities, aid activities that we are poorly suited and enhances the development for which we are ideally suited" (Mayer, 2009, p. 13)." The required active engagement for this video is cognitive because the focus in the video is on the meaning of the presented material and interprets it in light of prior knowledge, YouTube-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hlgGpVpgWo YouTube provides a video presentation on a "SMART Board Interactive White Board Accessibilities." This video presentation provides teachers with information on how to make the SMART Board accessible to all students. The video uses a learner-centered approach to technology because it "takes in account the learners information processing (Mayer, 2009, p. 9)." The required active engagement for this video is cognitive because the focus is on learner adding information to their memory. Smarttech http://downloads01.smarttech.com/media/trainingcenter/flash/touch%20write%20and%20save.htm This Smarttech video presentation is a 2 minute tutorial. The three web sites that I selected that include multimedia artifacts for active learning: 1) http://www.learner.org/ The learner.org website is a cognitive activity. This web site accomplishes the learner-centered approach. The web site focuses on using multimedia technology as an aid to human cognition (Mayer, p. 13 2009). It uses film clips to demonstrate the practical applications of various mathematical concepts to real life situations. It builds a connection of what the students are studying to a concrete example (visual) to create a clearer mental picture form prior knowledge to new knowledge that is being discovered. 2) http://pearsonmylabandmastering.com/ The My Lab web site is a behavioral activity. This web site accomplishes the learner-centered approach. The web site focuses on rewarding students for the correct responses (excellent) or punished for the incorrect ones (try again). The underlying metaphor is that of drill-and-practice system, so multimedia is a vehicle for rewarding correct responses and punishing incorrect ones (Mayer, p.15, 2009). A student receives immediate feedback positive or negative and strengthens a response system to proceed or provide reinforcement of the content. 3) http://webgraphing.com/ The web graphing web site is a cognitive activity. This web site accomplishes the learner-centered approach. The web site provides engagement between the student and the graphing calculator. Multimedia learning is a sense-making activity in which the learner seeks to build a coherent mental representation from the presented material (Mayer, p. 17, 2009). The students actively engage with the graphing calculator along with the teacher

Use our Video Maker to create animated videos for free and create an animated lesson for your class. Make a demo video of a new technology tool and video for your training for your staff. Students can write and record dialogue, move the characters, direct the camera, add music and sound effects - all with drag & drop tools! This presentation tool provides a private, secure environment for student users and school groups. Students can only access and view school-safe and age appropriate content.
  •
Go Animate is a web application that allows users to make video representations of learning material or to showcase what has been learned. This application allows the user to create fully animated video cartoons complete with text to audio features. The application can be used for both essential and generative learning. It is particularly useful in the generative process as it allows the user to integrate learned materials in a creative manner.
  •
GoAnimate! allows teachers to quickly create animated lessons. The site offers a variety of options for setting, images, and avatars. Users can use the text-to-speech feature or record their own voices to narrate the videos. These videos can be used to quickly create engaging videos to present content to learners. GoAnimate! can be used to help learners manage essential processing by using the principles of multimedia to create an effective presentation. It is better than other sites because it is so user friendly, and animations can be created quickly.
  •
This website lets you create an animated video for use in your classroom. View the video on their introduction page to learn about the features and options. A teacher could also let students have the option of animating a presentation for the class to help engage student creativity.

This is the environment where learners will record a demonstration of best instruction practices. This interactive environment allows users to interact in a virtual space. Presentations, lectures, Q and A, interactive polling, and other features take the classroom online. This is the current tool used at my institution. It's relatively inexpensive and integrates perfectly with our LMS, Blackboard. Blackboard purchased Wimba and their largest competitor, Elluminate, so they are working on Gemini as a new product to replace these products.

Tagxedo - 0 views

Turns anything you want inot visually stunning tag cloud, words individually sized appropriately to highlight the frequencies of occurrence within the body of text. This was a great site, gave many options to upload from, also had gallery to choose the orientation of your word cloud. My participants can use this as a visual along with their videos they create.
  •
Tagxedo is a site that creates word clouds from user inputs. The site will convert a block of text to a word cloud, which can be transformed into a variety of shapes. Words that occur more frequently appear larger in the cloud. Teachers can use this for pre-training to present key terms. Based on the size of the words, learners can determine the key terms for the content they are learning, as well as important words associated with those key terms. The teacher can manipulate the text to place emphasis on the words of their choice. A feature of Tagxedo that distinguishes it from other sites is the feature that allows the user to upload an image and form the word cloud using she shape of that image. A teacher could use this possibility to further emphasize an important key term or concept. This site can be used for essential learning by providing learners with knowledge of key terms prior to the lesson, freeing important space in working memory for the processing of other information.
  •
    * Tagxedo is a great way to make "word clouds" from websites and different social networks in real-time by customizing the font, theme, color, orientation, and shape. Tagxedo is an excellent resource to use when introducing new content material, because of the ability to use Internet web addresses and other media that can be added to the word cloud.
    * I found Tagxedo to be better than other "word cloud" websites because it is effective at using paragraphs of text to highlight key vocabulary and has many options to create a better-finished product that can be transferred to other mediums.
