UKEdChat Session 322: Good Behaviour Strategies - 10 views

  •
Following on from the results of our online poll, #UKEdChat this week will focus on Good Behaviour Strategies used in schools. Whether in the Early Years, Primary, Secondary or beyond, the behaviour of students can positively or negatively impact the rest of the class as well as interfere with teaching and learning. The session will release six questions (see below), so join the session on Twitter from 8pm via the #UKEdChat hash-tag. Questions: What student behaviours to you find to be the most annoying when teaching? Where do you go for support when you are finding student behaviour a problem? What has been the most positive intervention made in helping build a positive classroom behaviour? What are the foundations in ensuring positive pupils behaviour in any classroom? What are the most effective consequences used when dealing with disruptive behaviour? Think back to when you were a school pupil. What was the worst behaviour you displayed?

Atlantic Avenue: Adventures in Consumption Landscapes [IFP Beirut] | International Field Program Seminar-Spring '11 - 18 views

  • I grew up in a Muslim and Christian home, and because of my Iranian passport, I am legally and exclusively Muslim (in that nation’s eyes at least). I don’t ever identify with a religion, but if I do, I say I’m both. Most people are confused by this response, and so at best it leads to a converse. At worst, it easily fends off people who want to put me neatly and nicely into a box of their own choosing

Powerful self-reflection and positioning yourself within the context, one of the goals of participant observation
  • My personal ethnic ambiguity invites questions as much as it doesn’t. The ability to “pass” as a member of a community, albeit religious, ethnic, or otherwise made me realise I might need to hash out some of the answers to the uncomfortable questions I avoid asking myself, at least before Beirut.

35 Inspirational Movies That Will Change Your Life - 22 views

  •
The best inspirational movies leave an indelible impression on the viewer. In this selection I've chosen 35; from Oscar winners to cult favorites, they're worthy of anyone's DVD collection. In an attempt to avoid this list being cliché, I've picked films you may not have seen before, and ones which may have slipped from your memory. As a result, you won't find certain well known films below, such as Schindler's List, Forrest Gump, and Shawshank Redemption. The exceptional films on offer should, hopefully, make up for it!

10 Famous Failures That Will Inspire You to Be a Success - 28 views

  •
Failure occurs everyday, in school, jobs, housework, and within families. It is unavoidable, irritating and causes pessimism. While the thought of flinging your hands in the air and walking away is all too appealing, take a second to connect with the people who have been there and survived.
