Nearpod makes presentations possible in a way that was previously impossible. It gives the presenter controls that they wouldn't have with a standard PowerPoint presentation (and it's free). Teachers send the digital presentation out to student devices and control what students see. Students interact and respond to the presentation, and the teacher can monitor student progress.
Prezi is a zooming presentation creator. It is easy to use and offers you a 21st century presentation that doesn't even compare to PowerPoint. Your presentations can have a professional appearance without having to switch between slides or add transitional effects to each individual detail. Prezi provides you a canvas to be creative on so don't be afraid to think outside the box -- explore other Prezis to get ideas (they will blow you away).
My middle school students learn to use Prezi easily. It helps teach them literacy skills, organization, critical thinking, and all other skills related to writing an essay or story.
I am working with the math teacher and his students are creating a math story using Prezi. They love the program and seem to be enjoying the project so far.
" On est en même temps sur le tableau ?! "
S'exclamèrent les élèves à qui j'ai présenté l'application il'y a deux ans.
Plus que l'aspect visuel flateur, la dimension collaborative synchrone en fait un véritable outil social à la sauce Web2.0
Great list of presentation tools along with descriptions: authorstream, BrinkPad, Empressr, Google Docs Presentation, Imageloop, myPlick, PreZentit, SlideRocket, Spresent, VCASMO, & Zoho Show.
Great way to add audio to digital presentations without having to record the entire presentation at once. Recordings for each slide are saved one at a time.
Sacha Chua has once again created an awesome slide presentation. In this presentation, A Teacher's Guide to Web 2.0 at School, Sacha does a great job of addressing the "yeah buts" and "what if" opposition statements that some administrators and teachers make in regards to using Web 2.o in schools.
Reading Bear, a project of WatchKnowLearn.org, is the first free program online to teach beginning readers vocabulary and concepts while systematically introducing all the main phonetic patterns of written English, all using innovative rich media. We spent an enormous amount of time developing 50 presentations, covering even more phonics principles and illustrating over 1,200 vocabulary items. There is nothing else like it, free or otherwise.
A superb site for making interesting online presentations. Use your own images, RSS feeds, or search on popular image/photo sites. I love the choice of presentation type.

I find that having a "back channel" conversation during a presentation to actually do the opposite. I am so busy commenting on what was just presented that I miss what is being talked about next.
"I think it's a good idea to use Skype (10) for learning about other states and countries.
I like the idea of Skyping with people from other countries. I could get the kids to come up with a list of questions first. My biggest question is HOW do I connect/find someone from another country?

FreePoverty is a geography game that presents you with a city or landmark. You have a short amount of time (5-10 seconds) to locate it on a map. The closer you are to the target, the more cups of water are donated to people in need around the world. (FreePoverty is seeking a nonprofit organization to work with to help turn the site's revenues into water donations.)
