Free Technology for Teachers describes how to use this free online collaborative whiteboard tool, Stoodle. Stoodle doesn't require registration and allows you multiple "pages" to write on (great for math problems), type on, or add files or pictures to. There is a chat box and microphone feature.

TodaysMeet is a free online tool that allows you to backchannel. What is a backchannel I hear you ask? Backchanneling is having real time online conversations alongside live presentations. Not in the classroom, just on my own, but the the possibilities look good for brainstorming activities. I'm going to send it to my teachers as a "site of week".

Advantages of using group-sized whiteboards over chart paper for student collaborative work: the "power of the eraser," students more likely to take risks, etc.
