Pinning Tip: A Simpler, Friendlier Pin Form - Oh, How Pinteresting! - 68 views

  • You can add meta data by typing right into the pin form. Before, you could add price by typing $, but now you can tag a person who might enjoy seeing the pin or add #hashtags just like Twitter. @Mentions - Have you ever been pinning and wanted to send that pin to a friend you know would love it? With the new pin form, you can type @ and notify a friend about a pin. This is perfect for quickly sending that perfect product, recipe, or piece of art to someone you know. #Tags - Tags are useful, but we thought clicking into a new tag field was just too much work. With the new form, add #tags just like Twitter. Two word tags should be written like this: #two_words.  $Price - Price is useful and now we’re happy to support Dollars, Pounds and Euros. Type $, €, or £ and Pinterest will add that data to your pin

PhotoPin - Free Photos for Bloggers via Creative Commons - 199 views

  •
Photo Pin is a new website offering images that can be re-used for blog entries, video productions, slideshows, and print media. Photo Pin uses a combination of Flickr's API for Creative Commons search and Fotolia's image library to serve-up royalty-free images. The search results page on Photo Pin clearly delineates between images that are free to use and images that you have to purchase. Applications for Education If you're looking for a new way to find Creative Commons-licensed images for yourself or your students, Photo Pin could be a good option for you. I like that Photo Pin offers a clear reminder to users that they must correctly link to the sources of the images that they choose to use.

Elias Fotinis DeskPins :: Make Any Window Topmost - 0 views

  •
DeskPins can be used to make any application topmost, that is, to keep it above all other windows. Just grab a pin from the DeskPins icon in the system notification area (a.k.a. taskbar tray) and click on any window. This functionality is identical to the "Always on Top" setting found in some programs. With DeskPins you can add this feature to any program!

Kahoot - 55 views

This has got to be the funkiest instant poll, quiz, response site around. Create questions, quizzes and polls with optional uploaded images for participants to complete in real time from a computer or mobile device. The users access the quiz by using a pin code. The 'question master' gets the data back instantly and it is stored on the site or can be downloaded. This is superb for checking the knowledge of children in your class or that your audience is still awake.

I tried this recently and it was pretty great. The class was engaged, and I got some very good information about what they knew and did not know. Students commented things like, "Can we do this again?" and "We should do this every day."
