The Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy is a camp where teachers go and learn about math and science through fun ways! The camp will be one week long and your teacher will learn with other teachers from across the country. Best of all, it's free for them, too.
An excellent adaptive learning site that provides online tutoring, interactive tools, and challenges in a fun and engaging way. Students need to use "yoops" (a virtual currency) to progress through activities. This does eventually require students to pay their way through the course as free yoops become increasingly difficult to acquire.. which is the largest drawback.
This is a series of videos about doodling in math class. They relate, although sometimes loosely, to topics from geometry, algebra, trigonometry, and precalculus. Very fun to show students as a side-note to regular lessons.
"Teaching this class has allowed me to witness levels of student engagement I have never seen before. Students are motivated, curious, flexible, prepared to take risks, comfortable with failure and they are also having fun."
"What really happened at the First Thanksgiving?
Become a history detective and find out!
In this fun, award-winning activity, kids take on the role of "history detectives" to investigate what really happened at the famous 1621 celebration. (Hint: It was a lot more than just a feast!) Along the way, they'll read a letter written by an eyewitness to the event, learn about Wampanoag traditions of giving thanks, and visit Pilgrim Mary Allerton's home. As a final activity, kids can design and print their own Thanksgiving exhibit panel."
Intriguing photo effects, multiple styles/ways to present different kinds of content, easy to add text, fun to use, and of course, free. Is this the perfect web-based digital storytelling tool?
