Its crazy to see how the Us has not completely advanced on moved on from the same issues that were present back in the day. Inequality is a problem that has never left the country and needs to be both discussed and solved.
  •
Interesting to see the gap slowly close as time goes on. One can only hope one day the gap will completely disappear and we can all have a seat at the table together.

  •
This article provides the statistics of women and men's pay and how they differ. Women are paid .79 cents to every man's dollar in America.
  •
This is a very reliable source for researching the gender pay gap. It's great that it is up to date. That .21 cents matters.
  •
This is very wrong for companies to do. Character is what determines work ethic not who you are physically. its all about the motivation of an individual.

The Gender Pay Gap in Nursing - 4 views

the gender pay gap in nursing. Men make more money than woman nurses
  • ...3 more comments...
  •
It bottles my mind of how women are still in equal to men. We are more advanced now than the 1900's. We should be able to treat women the same across all platforms especially healthcare.
  •
There definitely needs to be a change in this, gender inequality shouldn't be an issue anymore. Especially when the majority of nurses are women.
  •
This is so interesting I had no idea about this one reading the article is mind-boggling how can they justify paying someone less solely based on their gender. Amazing read!
  •
It really makes me angry that anyone could think that this is okay. Someone's pay should be dictated by the work they put in instead of their gender or race.
  •
The fact that this sort of inequality still exists just based on sex is crazy! And like your article states, gender is not the only affected area, but black, indigenous and people of color as well. Pay should vary on knowledge and performance, not ones ethnicity.

Equal Pay - 5 views

  •
Women deserve equal pay. On average, they are paid less than their male counterparts. It effects their spending power and what women receive in their social security.
  • ...3 more comments...
  •
This is a really good article because it also talks about how race affects the pay gap. Most articles I find on the topic ignore how non-white women are paid less than white women. The struggle for mothers attempting to reenter the workplace is horrible.
  •
A reality unfortunately, in our society. It is almost hilarious how you read on all papers when you are hired :"we are an equal opportunity employer, no discrimination of any kind..." and yet the first thing you notice is the pay you get in comparison with a man who is less qualified than you but...he is a man. And, as kat2222004 pointed, very hard for mothers to reenter the work field, the mother is not trusted anymore to be a reliable employee.
  •
Really good article. I saw this as I was choosing a topic to discuss in our discussion last week. I 100% agree that women should receive the same pay as men. Women are such hard workers whether it is in the work force, or for those who have to maintain a family as well.
  •
The 77 cent claim has been repeatedly refuted because it does not accommodate for the fact that women are more likely to choose lower paying jobs or jobs with benefits. Men on average work longer hours. Single, childless women in major cities earn more than men. Women obtain 58% of college degrees. Women are less likely to go into STEM jobs. Also statistics are easily manipulated. Watch TJ explain the wage gap https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWAlg48fNwE
  •
I definitely agree with this article. Even if some people like to think this isn't a problem it definitely is. For men and women in the same field regardless of what that field is men often get the higher income than women do. My mother is a major example of this and often talks about how the men in the same department as her make more money even when they produce less work that generally isn't that good. On top of that my mother works the same amount of hours and even more than average in a given week yet still doesn't come close to the pay gap. Of course, there may be inconsistency in statistics but it is definitely still an issue to be aware of because it still exists.

Pay gap, women's rights, gender equality: US ranks 28th worldwide - 1 views

  •
This article talks about women's rights across the world. The article lists countries who rank the highest and countries who rank the lowest. The United States surprisingly falls lower than expected. No country is ranked a perfect 100% but there are countries who come close, USA not being one of them.
  •
Such a shame from a country that widely considers itself advocates for equal rights. There are many of us that recognize this same concept, that being gender inequalities and pay gaps still exist, and advocate for that to be abolished. With the recent advances in how sensitive our society is regarding social issues, how long is this really going to take? One would think that we, as a culture of the U.S., would have already arrived to a point of true gender equality.
  •
This is a very interesting article. I knew there is a significant pay gap within the U.S. and was honestly surprised to see it so high up. As someone else said, it certainly is a shame that we are so low yet consider the US to be one of the most progressive countries with social issues.

Of the 1%, by the 1%, for the 1% | Vanity Fair - 0 views

  •
The gap between the 1% and the rest of the world is growing. The opinion that those that are in the top 1% have earned, and continue to earn that type of income. The reality is that research has proven this is not the case. Research has also proven that those who are not born to the upper class do not have nearly the same opportunities to succeed in life. The system is corrupt. The rich are growing richer off the work of the poor, who are becoming impoverished.
