Income gap: Middle class in Arizona being 'left behind' - 0 views

  •
This is an article all about breaking down the statistics surrounding Arizona's growing income gap between the middle class and the elite. Like most of America, our middle class has remained just about stagnant, while from 2017 to 2019, the top 20% of income earners in Arizona has risen 1.9%, which is .5% more than the national average.

Equal Pay - 5 views

  •
Women deserve equal pay. On average, they are paid less than their male counterparts. It effects their spending power and what women receive in their social security.

This is a really good article because it also talks about how race affects the pay gap. Most articles I find on the topic ignore how non-white women are paid less than white women. The struggle for mothers attempting to reenter the workplace is horrible.
  •
A reality unfortunately, in our society. It is almost hilarious how you read on all papers when you are hired :"we are an equal opportunity employer, no discrimination of any kind..." and yet the first thing you notice is the pay you get in comparison with a man who is less qualified than you but...he is a man. And, as kat2222004 pointed, very hard for mothers to reenter the work field, the mother is not trusted anymore to be a reliable employee.
  •
Really good article. I saw this as I was choosing a topic to discuss in our discussion last week. I 100% agree that women should receive the same pay as men. Women are such hard workers whether it is in the work force, or for those who have to maintain a family as well.
  •
The 77 cent claim has been repeatedly refuted because it does not accommodate for the fact that women are more likely to choose lower paying jobs or jobs with benefits. Men on average work longer hours. Single, childless women in major cities earn more than men. Women obtain 58% of college degrees. Women are less likely to go into STEM jobs. Also statistics are easily manipulated. Watch TJ explain the wage gap https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWAlg48fNwE

I definitely agree with this article. Even if some people like to think this isn't a problem it definitely is. For men and women in the same field regardless of what that field is men often get the higher income than women do. My mother is a major example of this and often talks about how the men in the same department as her make more money even when they produce less work that generally isn't that good. On top of that my mother works the same amount of hours and even more than average in a given week yet still doesn't come close to the pay gap. Of course, there may be inconsistency in statistics but it is definitely still an issue to be aware of because it still exists.

People should not be forced to retire at 65 - 0 views

  •
This website argues that people should not be forced to retire at 65. The website goes into detail about age concerns and how if the government were to tell people to stop working at the age of 65, that it would breach, at least for the European Court, equality requirements. This website also argues how it could be considered as a discrimination of some sort.

Retirement is a huge controversy subject. The age, rules, and regulations of retirement. SSI income and much more. This articles helps identify a lot of questions about it, but still why have such a higher age of retirement!

Education Is Social Justice - 1 views

  •
It is everyones right to have the opportunity to receive a good education. Education and knowledge are said to be the best quality. With this said it takes a lot of self motivation, but some kids just don't have access to education.

An article by Greg Mullenholz on the fact that education is a social justice issue within our society. He calls education "a dividing line between success and failure" and states that access to high quality teachers and education is a key component to helping students who are underprivileged to receive the future they deserve.
  •
This is an interesting perspective. I do believe education in America needs to be improved and the lack of action will cause America to become irrelevant in our modern era. I believe we need to reform our education system that is already in place and have families make it a higher priority rather than have the federal government mandate a solution.
  •
Education may be one of the biggest social justice issues because it is one of the main factors that determine a productive future instead of incarceration. The article states that "education was the dividing line between success and failure." There is a need for high-quality teachers along with equal opportunity for a good education among all different income levels.
  •
An article discussing the importance of education in society. The main idea is that under performing schools demand a certain skill set and access to funding in order to provide a path to success for their student base, and the unfortunate truth that this practice is not existent. School is the corner stone for the success of children and current standards and practices have created inequality across the nation
  •
Education being a social justice issue is nothing out of the norm. Education is not just about teaching common core programs but, it is also a place to teach kids and adults how to protect the dignity of humanity. Education is a huge dividing line between being successful and unsuccessful.

Access to Health Services | Healthy People 2020 - 5 views

  •
Access to Health Services is a key issue in the Health Care domain as many people face disparities due to limited access. Many issues are covered in brief or general detail with focus on each main idea. These ideas include lack of Health Coverage, poor transportation services, deficient Health Care Resources, and how they impact vulnerable populations.
  •
Healthcare barriers are a concern in today's world, with pharma gaining ever more power within the government. Healthcare prices are skyrocketing, creating an economic barrier. I learned from this article that physicians could refuse to help patients using Medicaid just because of the lower rate. The goal of Medicaid is to ensure that low-income people can receive healthcare. Physicians should not refuse healthcare to the Medicaid population based on the rate of cost.

This article provides in depth insight on the barriers people face accessing adequate healthcare in America. It talks about how important healthcare is and how it is a human right to have equal access to it. The website provides credible evidence and sources to support all the contributing factors.
