The goals were established in 2015 with the aim of reaching them by 2030, so this is the halfway mark and a great time to think about what we're doing to help achieve these goals."

Students need good reading skills not just in English but in all classes. Here are some ways you can help them develop those skills. However, teaching reading skills in English classes and across the disciplines is an almost guaranteed way to help students retain content. Unfortunately, the tendency to focus on the content is a real enemy to the ultimate goal of building reading skills.

Social impact games are a genre that seek to effect positive changes in society through play. Often, players are put in roles (known as "player agency") and must make decisions that have impactful consequences. These games are not necessarily designed for teaching; rather, the goal is to enable players to have empathy about social issues.

An interactive website created for children aged 8+. There are videos, stories and a quiz, plus the opportunity for kids to write a persuasive 100 word message to share their views. There is a section for educators to access free resources to engage students in action for the Global Goals.

Collaboration can come in many forms, but the goal is to move past just the curation of resources. The focus is on connecting the library and classroom curriculum to provide authentic learning opportunities for students. Below is a mini-project that was developed alongside the third-grade teachers to teach figurative language. "

"Welcome to Ecoregions 2017 © Resolve. This new map offers a depiction of the 846 ecoregions that represent our living planet. Ecoregions are ecosystems of regional extent. These are color coded on this map to highlight their distribution and the biological diversity they represent. This new map is based on recent advances in biogeography - the science concerning the distribution of plants and animals. The original ecoregions map has been widely used since its introduction in 2001, underpinning the most recent analyses of the effects of global climate change on nature by ecologists to the distribution of the world's beetles to modern conservation planning. In the same vein, our updated ecoregions can now be used to chart progress towards achieving the visionary goal of Nature Needs Half, to protect half of all the land on Earth to save a living terrestrial biosphere."
