Have you ever wanted to create short "how to" video for your students to use for homework, remembering facts, and solving math problems. How often have your students stated, "I could not complete the homework assignment, because I could not remember the steps and no one could help me." Well the answer is to create a screencast or video for posting on your class wiki or blog for students to view at home or anywhere else they have web access.

No keyboard :( but a fantastic pricing. I want a couple (one for my son, one for me). I hope they deliver on their promise. And that CPU better deliver all the stuff it says too.

Wonderful video clips where students can record and practice their speaking. Good for improving literacy as well as English speaking skills. Any student who does not like reading aloud would enjoy! Latest: a clip from Despicable Me!

Great way to help instruct students or fellow teachers on how to use a program or just to quickly and easily share information with others.

For me, Google Docs has been a stand-out winner for collaborative efforts. In some instances, it  is for projects where team members are spread far and wide - from Adelaide to Malaysia and back again. For other times, it's the desk next door, but it's happening in the final hours of a deadline. Either way, Google Docs somehow makes this work.

The possibility of the National Writing Project being killed by the Senate makes me physically ill.  Follow up on this article, call your senator. Stop the destruction of a national educational resource that we cannot let die.

A response to Marc Prensky's BLC'08 session on teaching programming

I read this post several years ago and it got my blood moving. The author, Karl Fisch lays it on the line. This post was voted the most influential ed-blog post of 2007. It's 2009 already and still a very relevant piece of work. A must read! (Let me add, that if you're reading this bookmark... you're at the front of the line and obviously working to understand and live in the 21st Century!)

Cristóbal Cobo sent me this link to the Ung Kommunikation [Young Communication] project. The project examines the convergence of new technologies, youth culture and learning. And, by looking at the influence of youth culture on digital communication, the project might be able to identify a bridge between the divide of formal and non-formal learning.

If you teach IB ITGS and are interested in doing a global collaboration project for the Business & Employment Area of Impact, please contact me. We need another school or two. This collaborative project will occur around February 2009.
