Martha Ryan - Extraordinary People Changing the Game - 0 views

  •
What hope is there for children of women who are addicted to drugs? Or homeless? Desperate? They get so absorbed with their misery that they don't pay much attention to the baby they are carrying. Or maybe they care but their lives are so messed up they don't know what it's like to love another human being anymore. We can only give what we have. Speaking of giving, nobody does it better than Martha Ryan, a registered nurse who founded Homeless Prenatal Program. The idea behind it is to help end the cycle of childhood poverty. Shigeru Ban - Extraordinary People Changing the Game - 0 views

  •
Shigeru Ban does not call himself an environmental architect even though he has made a name in paper architecture. The Naked House at Kawagoe, Saitama prefecture, Japan; the Nomadic Museum; the Cardboard Cathedral in Christchurch, New Zealand; and the Musée d'art Moderne Georges in Pompidou, Metz, France are just some of his masterpieces. They all have one thing in common-paper. He founded the Voluntary Architects' Network (VAN), a non-governmental organization that aids in building homes for refugees and evacuees. Because of his dedication to giving back to the community, he has been dubbed "the people's architect." To read more about Shigeru Ban visit www.thextraordinary.org

How many Toms does your ELGG need? | Brightcookie.com Educational Technologies - 6 views

  •
Your ELGG (an open source community platform) users might not be overly concerned about their friend count, but they very often might need to make a connection with your organisation right off the bat if they have questions about how to use the site or need to understand what having a friend or contact entails so they have the confidence to start engaging with other users. If you currently use or are considering implementing ELGG, you may want to think about starting your members off with at least one default friend.

Digital Portfolios Made Easy - 1 views

  •
Digital Portfolios Made Easy is a portfolio system developed by Dr. Leigh E. Zeitz and Andrew E. Krumm. It provides a system for presenting digital portfolios that is complete but simple. The growing interest in electronic and digital portfolios has created opportunities for practitioners to present portfolios that are more rich and interconnected than the traditional notebook professional portfolio. The greatest obstacle to creating digital portfolios, however, can be the practitioner's perception of the technology itself. The technology does not need to be overly complicated, and the goal of DPME is to make the process as transparent and intuitive as possible. The DPME templates provide a framework within which to build a standards-based, individualized professional portfolio. The DPME templates are provided in two formats, Word and HTML. These two formats allow practitioners of all skill levels to use software that most already have on their computers.

ACMA is discussing with the IIA what if any action it may need to take to help ensure that ACMA's list remain secure. ACMA considers that any publication of the ACMA blacklist would have a substantial adverse effect on the effective administration of the regulatory scheme which aims to prevent access to harmful and offensive online material. Such publication would undermine the public interest outcomes which the current legislation aims to achieve.
