Welcome to the LAT Web Site! - 0 views

  •
"This is a virtual place for folks interested in learning to "operationalize TPACK" (Technology, Pedagogy, and Content Knowledge) via curriculum-based learning activity types ('LATs') to get up-to-date information, and (more importantly) participate in the vetting and refining of the activity types in each of the curriculum areas in which activity type development is happening." College of William & Mary School of Ed has set up a community site where there is a collection of activities with accompanying technologies for a wide range of ages/grade levels. There is also a "teaching strategies" page and links to presentations, assessment tools, and other resources. Hopefully there will be frequent updates and the pages will be a useful resource.

An excellent video of the teacher and students using the lesson plan, this lesson from the Teaching Channel walks you through preparation for a writing assignment. It was developed through an EQuIP Peer Review Panel to ensure alignment with the Common Core standards, and was created by teachers and administrators working with the Massachusetts Dept of Elementary and Secondary Ed Model Curriculum Project. It uses a "Smart Chart" to deepen student understanding of rhetorical devices and has students collaborate in a ranking activity. Has links to a place where you can submit your own lessons for a free EQuIP panel review, and links to other related lesson plans.

"... Fotobabble...it's a fun, easy to use tool that enables many types of student learning. Low 'start up' time - simply select a user name, add a password and valid email address, and I was ready to go. Alas, no Google sign in, but it was easy anyway... "I entered a url for an image, to which I then wanted to add a voice-over. Fotobabble also allows image uploads from the desktop. I added a little 'background' spruce it up, and the image was all set."

"Every educator, from kindergarten to graduate school, should contribute to the important and significant work of teaching students to use online sources and social networks for educational and professional goals. To ignore the technology, or assume that our students already know it because they use it every day, is to participate in educational malpractice." A very sensible article about what main tools are used to move kids from social media to academic purposes -- and how to get them there. Speaks to PLNs, PLEs, Pinterest, curation with Diigo, Symbaloo, Netvibes, Twitter. Very good explanation of how the work, the advantages, and the possible problems. Hybrid Pedagogy is a Digital Journal with a team of editors and writers.
