"Students join the session by going to classroomq.com/students, enter their teacher's name and class code. They can then ask for assistance and will be added to the teacher's queue with the push of a button. "Learnist, as many have already pointed out, works much like Pinterest - a way to catalog online resources on a topic and share them with the user's social network. And like Pinterest, it looks like a digital bulletin board with pictures and messages, and connects with Facebook accounts. In fact, the site's "learning boards" look quite a bit like Facebook's timeline feature, and Facebook membership is required to use Learnist at this point. In its current closed beta form, Learnist, launched by Grockit, is still very much in its infancy, but some curious teachers have already jumped on the wagon. Time will tell whether educators will stick with Pinterest, or migrate to Learnist because of its association with Grockit, which already has a large and loyal following as a social learning tool." "Pinterest is an electronic bulletin board where users can "pin" images from around the web. These images are then categorized into various boards on the users' profile. Pins are also shared and searchable, which makes Pinterest a wonderful resource for visual information. So what are these pin boards good for with regards to integrating them into the classroom?" Suggests ways to create lesson plans, share ideas, organize your own or students' resources, and help students explore their own presentations and projects.

A very sensible article about what main tools are used to move kids from social media to academic purposes -- and how to get them there. Speaks to PLNs, PLEs, Pinterest, curation with Diigo, Symbaloo, Netvibes, Twitter. Very good explanation of how the work, the advantages, and the possible problems. Hybrid Pedagogy is a Digital Journal with a team of editors and writers.

A nice way to enhance project-based learning, and PicMark lets you share on several common social websites such as Google+, Twitter, and Fb. "PicMark is a simple tool that allows you to brand your pictures with a custom frame before you post them online. Adding a mark is as simple as uploading your picture to their site, choosing a frame, and sharing it to Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest. The site allows you to further enhance your frames by choosing colors, styles, and typing messages on the frame. If you'd like, you can even design your own custom frame to use anytime. PicMark is great for teachers to share class pictures on their class web page or with students in projects. PicMark is free to join and it makes sharing pictures just a little bit more fun."

The author compares 10 bookmarking and annotating tools, such as Diigo and Scoop.it, Pinterest, etc.

"Have students create a Pinterest board with 10 pins that summarizes them. Ask students to create a 30 second podcast that introduces themselves. Then allow students to present them or play them on separate devices as an audio gallery. Create a classroom blog and ask each student to write a blog post introducing themselves to the rest of the classroom. Have students create a quick comic strip to describe themselves or to recreate a recent funny moment in their lives. Use PollEverywhere to ask students interesting questions and get to know them as a class, like their favorite subjects, bands or TV shows. Use GoogleForms or SurveyMonkey to survey students about their interests, academic inclinations, and background info - a 21st century alternative to the "Getting to Know You" info sheet! "If This Then That helps you automate tasks like saving your Pinterest pins to your Evernote account, setting text alerts for calendar events, and sending email attachments directly to your Dropbox account. There are thousands of formulas, "recipes" is what IFTTT calls them, available in the gallery of recipes." A Pinterest-type site with short reviews of lesson plans for teaching with film, and descriptions of films that might be used for education, especially those with cross-cultural interest. Will take some willingness to hunt, though there is a search engine.

R. Byrne: "A featured resource on MoMA Learning is this video containing five tips for teaching with works of art. The video not only lists the tips, it contains examples of using these tips to teach art history and art appreciation lessons to students." Most of the great art museums and natural history museums of the world have websites with instructional materials of very high quality. It's worth some time to explore what they offer and figure out how to adapt their resources for your classes. One of the other excellent resources on MoMA Learning is this glossary of art terms. In many cases the definitions in the glossary contain links to multiple examples of each term. Curation of digital images with commenting. A good visual resource. You can "pin" pictures to explore a topic or concept.

This article suggests almost a dozen online applications to make cartoons out of photos. Find a useful tool for your students to use in digital storytelling.

In the simplest form, a Bitmoji classroom is just a Google Slide with hyperlinked images and objects that link out to class information and resources. This looks like a potentially useful site with loads of how-to tutorials on various apps and popular websites, such as Pinterest. Many lessons seem to be made by real teachers.

Metta also allows you to insert a quiz into your projects. This means that people viewing your Metta projects can watch a short video clip then answer questions about it before moving onto the next part of the presentation. Applications for Education You could have students create Metta projects in which they create book trailers using video clips, images, and their voices. Students could use Metta to create a digital collage of media around a current events topic that they're studying. Metta might also be used by students to create a showcase of their best digital works of the semester. "
