      This game could be used in younger grades (K and 1st) by having the students use a regular deck of cards and finding four numbers of the same kind instead of equivalent numbers. Higher advanced students could use a deck of cards with harder fractions and percentages. They could also create their own decks of cards to play with. Lower ability students could use decks of cards were they have to find two fractions and/or two percentages instead of four different equivalent numbers.

This activity could be used for younger ages by having the students identify different types of numbers. For example, the students could be searching for even numbers or odd numbers, rather than prime or composite numbers.

    Students work in pairs for this game. Each pair has a printed 100 chart. The students designate one color marker for the prime numbers, and another color marker for the composite numbers. Students take turns crossing out a composite number (1 point), circling a prime number (3 points), or passing. The player with the most points when all of the numbers are found, wins!

When blowing bubbles the students could also count how many bubbles they were able to make with each shape and write that number down. ELL students could practice just making the shapes with pipe cleaners. Students who are farther behind could work with other students in creating different shapes, but after that they could blow their own bubbles outside. The students could also skip the bubble blowing and just create shapes with pipe cleaners and glue these on paper to create a pipe cleaner shape display. Older students could also do this activity with more advanced shapes.

Extension: Use "The Natural World - playing card collection" to connect math with science. (i.e. butterflies of the world) This deck contains pictures of butterflies with the card numbers.

Extensions: You can extend this activity to older students by creating "dig sites" for each student to dig and identify the different layers. They can futher research types of rocks they find and identify what type of rock it is.
