With the onset of concepts like (SAAS) and cloud computing customers have multiple choices of choosing a platform which suits their requirements and meet their budgets. The On Demand CRM application has become the buzzword in the CRM application industry.

This is the first thing everyone should look for. I can give you a list of 100s of hosting providers who claim (and not guarantee) 99.9% uptime. On the front page the write "assured 99.9% uptime" but if you read TOS, they don't guarantee it, and there lies the catch. Fore my detailed review, I monitored each of the service using online uptime monitoring service Monitor: HostTracker, averaged over 4-6 months. BlueHost: They used to be great until last year, when they didn't have enough customers, all squeezed into the same servers. If you look into their reviews till last year, they look awesome. Reason is clear, they were good at that time, they were not that greedy. Due to the greed that they have been possessing over last year,  they suck on quality. Practically, I have attained practical uptime of 97.21% (This means 15 hours downtime monthly) and if you get frequent account suspensions (discussed later) downtime increases further. DreamHost: They seem to follow a similar trend with BlueHost, continue to fall in quality. The uptime I was able to attain  was 98.59% HostGator: Like others, they are also getting bigger, squeezing more people but still they seem to have quality as they are the ONLY Web hosting providers that ACTUALLY GUARANTEE 99.9% uptime. Woohoo, this forced me to try their service. And trust me, I actually achieved a figure very close to it. My averaged score over 6 months was 99.84 %. This is brilliant. (during October, I even got 99.99%)

In this paper, we describe our findings from interviews with participants working in two relatively new consortia in the government sector: the Government Open Code Collaborative or GOCC, and the Open Source Software Institute or OSSI. For each case we consider six major questions: (1) How and why did these collaborative efforts begin? (2) What are their motivations? (3) How are these collaborative efforts governed? (4) What communication and collaborative infrastructure do they utilize? (5) What software do they focus on? and, (6) What is their current status? Our findings suggest that incentives, membership structures, stable paid staff, concentrated focus and attention to the creation and delivery of "value" to participating organizations are important factors leading to successful open source consortia.

Exploratory visualization based on multiple coordinated views is a rapidly growing area of information visualization. Ideally, users would be able to explore their data by switching freely between building and browsing in a flexible, integrated, interactive graphical environment that requires little or no programming skill to use. However, the possibilities for displaying data across multiple views depends on the flexibility of coordination, the expressiveness of graphical encoding, and the ability of users to comprehend the structure of their visualizations as they work. As a result, exploration has been limited in practice to a small fraction of useful visualizations. Improvise is a fully-implemented Java software architecture and user interface that enables users to build and browse highly-coordinated visualizations interactively. By coupling a shared-object coordination model with a declarative visual query language, users gain precise control over how navigation and selection affects the appearance of data across multiple views, using a potentially infinite number of variations on well-known coordination patterns such as synchronized scrolling, overview+detail, brushing, drill-down, and semantic zoom. Improvise has been used to build numerous visualizations for exploring information including election results, particle trajectories, network loads, music collections, the chemical elements, and even the dynamic coordination structure of its own visualizations in situ. This last technique-integrated metavisualization-is unique to Improvise.

Facebook is a wonderful example of the network effect, in which the value of a network to a user is exponentially proportional to the number of other users that network has. The Virtual Knowledge Studio for the Humanities and Social Sciences (KNAW) supports researchers in the humanities and social sciences in the Netherlands in the creation of new scholarly practices and in their reflection on e-research in relation to their fields. A core feature of the Virtual Knowledge Studio is the integration of design and analysis in a close cooperation between social scientists, humanities researchers, information technology experts and information scientists. This integrated approach provides insight in the way e-research can contribute to new research questions and methods.

The focal point for this project is How I Spent My Summer Vacation by Mark Teague. Participating classrooms can write their own summer vacation adventure story or calculate the miles traveled during their vacation. Both activities will be shared via the Internet. Project begins August 31st.
