Chien-Wen, Lai. "How Financial Attitudes and Practices Influence the Impulsive Buying Behavior of College and University Students." Social Behavior & Personality: An International Journal 38.3 (2010): 373-380. Academic Search Complete. EBSCO. Web. 18 Nov. 2010. This article shows certain indications, or in other words tell tale signs that many people who have problems with financial spending hold in common. The article has tables that show results on whether or not students had plans on how to spend their money, if they actually kept track of their money, and why they spent their money. The main point of the article was the difference between compulsive, and pre-determined purchases of college students. I also thought that this article would be good because the field work was done on international students. This shows that financial literacy is just not a problem amongst college students in the states. This problem is occurring all over the world and this article shows that.

EBSCO. Web. 18 Nov. 2010. Children all over the world are greatly effected by the media because they are still learning who they are. The media images they see make them believe that is who they should be and who they should be around. This is not always the most ideal person for a young child to aspire to be. These images effect children and even-more-so effect children with disabilities who have an even harder time fitting in with other children and accepting themselves. These images show them what they are suppose to be like and who their friends should be and this is why media literacy is so important.

Numerous studies have shown that college students often have poor eating habits. Students tend to eat fewer fruits and vegetables on a daily basis\nand report high intake of high-fat, high-calorie foods. To study the phenomenon of food selection, the heath belief model was applied to predict the likelihood of healthy eating among university students. Numerous studies have shown that college students often have poor eating habits.

Understanding Media Literacy - 0 views

  •
A film available on OhioLINK. \n\nTV and radio commercials, Web sites and banner ads, magazine ads, pop songs, photos, and even news articles and textbooks: all of them are sending messages to influence the reader/viewer/listener. How do they grab the attention? What are they selling-a product or service? a lifestyle? an ideology?-and why? Would a different media consumer interpret the message differently? This program raises more questions than it answers, which is the whole point: to prompt students to question, question, question the messages they are bombarded with daily. Savvy media consumers aren't born; they're made, and this program is an excellent tool for shaping the classroom dialogue. (35 minutes)

The consequences of inequalities between men's and women's athletic programs are explored. Implications for academic programs are discussed. (Abstract from author as it appears on EBSCO.)
