This article discusses factors that influence people's choice of eating, these factors include cultural differences, children, and not know what is healthy. This article interviews professionals asking about the literacy of their patients, how they know this, and how they would help them to make healthy eating choices. Finally, this article talks about the time different health care providers spend with their patients and how this also influences their patients habits.

Media does affect the decision making process for children and teens.

The article has tables that show results on whether or not students had plans on how to spend their money, if they actually kept track of their money, and why they spent their money. The main point of the article was the difference between compulsive, and pre-determined purchases of college students. I also thought that this article would be good because the field work was done on international students. This shows that financial literacy is just not a problem amongst college students in the states. This problem is occurring all over the world and this article shows that.

This article tests the idea that parents influence their young on topics such as finances. There are survey results that show parental influence had an impact on the students and their financial outlook. There is also an enormous influence on financial behavior and attitude.

They focused on issues and subjects the students needed in order to pass and graduate.

These images effect children and even-more-so effect children with disabilities who have an even harder time fitting in with other children and accepting themselves. These images show them what they are suppose to be like and who their friends should be and this is why media literacy is so important.

Students tend to eat fewer fruits and vegetables on a daily basis\nand report high intake of high-fat, high-calorie foods.To study the phenomenon of food selection, the heath belief model was applied to predict the likelihood of healthy eating among university students. This is an article about a a study done on exposure to alcohol and its effects on teens. It is linked to many dangers including drunk driving, sexually transmitted diseases, suicide, and disabilities. With the amount of advertisements for alcohol through television, magazines, radio, and many others teens are being influenced to drink.

The article suggests that young adults who have a strong family background, and have received financial knowledge from either their parents, or a close mentor, will do much better with managing their finances. The journal's main emphasis was to show which parts of financial literacy was influenced by these standards. Although most students financial knowledge was no greater then the next, most that came from a strong family background had higher financial behavior and financial attitude.

How do they grab the attention? What are they selling-a product or service? a lifestyle? an ideology?-and why? Would a different media consumer interpret the message differently? This program raises more questions than it answers, which is the whole point: to prompt students to question, question, question the messages they are bombarded with daily. Savvy media consumers aren't born; they're made, and this program is an excellent tool for shaping the classroom dialogue. (35 minutes)

This paper investigates gender differences in academic performance among university athletes at an NCAA Division I school. Using regression analysis, the findings suggest that background scholastic achievement variables and race influence university academic performance for student athletes, but sport participation measures and race are negatively related to university academic performance for males only. The consequences of inequalities between men's and women's athletic programs are explored. Implications for academic programs are discussed. (Abstract from author as it appears on EBSCO.)

They focus on the grades 7 through 10. They use a three step program to see the growth with the students. Also they control what goes on the in the class room and talk about what they discovered. Results show that home resources, individual behavior problems, and attitude toward mathematics were related to growth in mathematics. It also talked about how if a student started in a higher level math class there was not much growth difference.
