Only a handful of years ago, it was common to hear people laugh at Wikipedia. Anyone can edit it! How could you take it seriously? These days, just as blogs are, wikis are on their way to winning a reputation as serious publishing platforms.

" sometimes get these secret emails or direct messages from some pretty amazing thinkers in education, talking about how they feel really constrained by the leadership in their schools. Sometimes after speaking, I get teachers in near tears thinking of "what could be" in their schools if only their administrators started reading blogs, looking at twitter; just something to push their learning. It seriously hurts to see the pain in the eyes of these teachers because they just want to do what is best for kids, yet they are feeling extremely constrained. They feel they are not in a situation where they can serve students in the way they feel would help them best in the future. The paradox that they face is that they stay and be frustrated or leave and feel they have abandoned students that need their help. This is an extremely tough situation."

"According to the National Crime Prevention Council, around 43 percent of children and teens reported being a victim of cyber bullying in 2011. A problem affecting so many students needs to be taken seriously. Cyber bullies have chosen technology as their weapon of choice, but you can turn their weapon against them and use technology to stop the bullying."

"As someone who has to wear two hats all the time: those of English teacher and Director of Digital Learning, I'm constantly challenging myself to make sure that what I recommend to other members of staff actually rings true and never is that more the case than in trying to ensure that there is genuine rigour in the work I'm doing with iPads.  Nothing is more important to me than ensuring that the use of the iPad creates a deep learning experience.  So here is a workflow that I think really works and hits the R of the SAMR model whilst also sticking with some of the tried and rested things we know work as teachers."

"I have come across a lot of posts with resources to free images and find them fascinating. Then I forget where they heck they are and even if I find them it takes way too long! So, I decided to put together a Symbaloo page to make it accessible to me immediately. If you're not using Symbaloo you should seriously consider giving it a try. "This summer, I was introduced to sketchnoting and challenged to incorporate  the concept of sketchnoting as a means of note taking.  Sketchnoting is the process of creating a personal visual story while listening, reading, or recording an experience as it happens or on a later date. Sketchnoting brings in a variety of cognitive processes, increasing the connection between speaker and listener due to the engagement needed to listen intently while synthesizing the spoken word into drawings and short narratives.  I decided to to take the challenge seriously."

"This is a great visual for students AND teachers of any age, to be honest. It's always better to approach a problem, concern, or even just a simple classroom question by having a positive mindset that keeps you on the right track rather than derailing you before you even get to ask your question out loud. Seriously, if you're being overly negative and hard on yourself, you may never even get the chance to choose to stay positive!"

"YouTube has been around for quite a long time. You'd think that, by now, we'd have got the hang of it. Yet most of us are pretty passive users - watching videos when they're emailed to us or we spot them on social media. We see a link, click and sit back. Hardly any of use use the playlist facility, for example. Those of you who use YouTube to host your own video, and channels, really ought to get with the programme on this one. Playlists allow you to organise you users' viewing - you can place videos in a logical order so that things make sense. And the videos auto play, so that your viewers will follow the programming you've given them, and watch for longer - and it's that viewing time that seriously helps in the optimisation (fundability) of videos on YouTube."
