The nature of nursing means that nursing ethics tends to examine the ethics of caring rather than 'curing' by exploring the relationship between the nurse and the person in care.

Nursing ethics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - 0 views

-
The focus of nursing ethics is on developing a caring relationship
-
This is where information about the person is only shared with others after permission of the person, unless it is felt that the information must be shared to comply with a higher duty such as preserving life. [5].

-
Nursing ethics shares many principles with medical ethics, such as beneficence, non-maleficence and respect for autonomy
-
This is considered by its advocates to focus more on relationships than principles and therefore to reflect the caring relationship in nursing more accurately than other ethical views.
-
People are then enabled to make decisions about their own treatment.
-
I think that it's important for people to make their own decisions wether or not they want the treatment because, what if their family doesn't have enough mom to pay for it or they on't have insurance. Usually depending upon the situation like lets say if it's really bad then the person won't take the treatment if they are close to dying.
-
-
There is a balance between people having the information required to make an autonomous decision and, on the other hand, not being unnecessarily distressed by the truth.
-
This is because nursing theory seeks a collaborative relationship with the person in care.
-
Patients and thie nurses need to have a caring relationship with each other. http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art43027.asp

In it, players design a character to play based on a number of starting options, such as the race of character and its type or class.
-
There are many games similar to this.. such as maple story, flyff, ragnorak... its nothing new. The only thing good about WoW is the graphics and the fact that they update the game every single week. I'm rather tired of kinds of games because all you do is level and fight. It got pretty boring to me.
-
its hard to find a mmorpg that doesnt have a character design feature unless it is really crappy or low quality even then its still hard to find one thats well known
-
Yeah I know what you mean ammy. At first I was addicted to MS but all i did was level and fight. It bored me.
-
Why is it so important to have a character design? I mean I get it when a person picks what character they want to be, but why do you need to pick the color of their hair, or race?

that's a weird name... I wonder what the meaning of it is, if there is any?
-
many MMORPG have their own world to draw players in. makes every game special in their own way
-
who every comes up with these names really has no life or has one hell of a imagination
-
i think it is titled world of warcraft because this is an alternate world where people are learning the art of war, or how to make war/fight in wars.

-
Players can also participate in player versus player combat, either in large groups or small team matches.

These are indicated by having yellow exclamation marks (!) above their heads, while yellow question marks (?) represent quests ready to hand back and complete.[26] Quests usually reward the player with experience points and in-game money

al and periodical events have also been added, such as Halloween, Midsummer and weekly fishing competitions
-
Although it's in a fictional world, there are still realistic things, such as Halloween. This makes the game more attractive and interesting.
-
i agree with you,the game will following the real holiday and create some activitly or quest about the holiday.
-
Yea, I think when there's events like these, people get drawn in because they get rare items or whatever
-
I think that this is giving people a excuse to be anti social and have no life why talk to real people or go outside when there is a whole vertual reality the mirrors the real world.
-
I agree too. holidays always makes pepole happy and when there favorite holidays are in the game its more interesting.
-
But isn't one of the main attractions of video games to put people in an alternate world? I, in fact, don't think the game is very realistic. The whole idea of fantasy is what is so different from real world. I think that's what is most appealing.ย

I can't imagine someone getting so in to the game... but I guess it's fairly normal also. How do you do that? o_o

This sounded like Sims, but it would be interesting to have this combination of battle and civil life
-
People get addicted to a game. And when they are playing their favorite video games they have no idea about whats going on around them.
-
This does sound like Sims, however it is more fantasy. I guess it's what someone wants to get out of the game. I think that the idea of going on hunts and the whole monsters and dragons thing makes it very different than Sims.ย

World of Warcraft is a place where people can leave their everyday lives and live a "cooler" much perfered life to escape reality. It is here where a great world of interaction occurs and technology truely shines as we see it in action.

As well as banding together to form groups, players can also band together to form guilds. These structures allow players several benefits, such as easier communication and an identifying guild name and tabard. Guild members can also be given access to a central pool of resources known as a guild bank.[13] Guilds can also make use of an in-game calendar, allowing guild members to view scheduled events, and respond to them with whether they can attend or not. This calendar can also be accessed without need to log-in to the game, using the Armory feature.[14]

Death Knights are a hero class, which means the player needs a level 55 (at least) and they start at level 55 with many skills, abilities, weapons and armor. While a character can be played on its own, players can also group up with others in order to tackle more challenging content. In this way, character classes are used in specific roles within a group

The Alliance currently consists of Humans, Night Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes and Draenei; the Horde currently consists of Orcs, Tauren, Forsaken, Trolls and Blood Elves.

In common with many MMORPGs, World of Warcraft requires players to pay for a subscription, usually either by credit-card or by buying a card from a retailer to redeem for a pre-determined amount of subscription time.[15]

Overall, I am very bored of this lesson and feel that this is pointless because I really don't care about the history or explanation of the "Gameplay of World of Warcraft." Plus, this game is rather boring and makes me not want to play. Great.

I agree. The game seems really confusing and pointless. I don't find it necessary to learn about a fantasy world that isn't really interesting or beneficial.

If you stop playing the game that you get experience points dont you have to play the game to get the points

I know!! That's the worst. You just want to give up halfway but if you do complete it, you get something good out of it.

Dont quests get boring after a period of time? The game designers or whatever you call them must come up with a lot of ideas if the quests are never ending.

However, most players prefer to use Ventrilo or Teamspeak, as they come with more customizable features and provide better sound quality than the voice service in-game.

As well as being able to complete quests and enter dungeons, players can also fight against other players in the game.

I think voice chat is awesome because you can continue to walk around without having ot stop and type. Its much easier to talk while you're hunting. many games have this feature right now which is awesome.

High end dungeons allow more players to group together and form a raid. These dungeons allow up to forty players to enter at a time in order to face some of the most difficult challenges.[33] In the Burning Crusade expansion the most common group sizes are ten and twenty-five,[32] based on the idea that these groups would be easier to fill and coordinate.[32] As well as dungeon-based raid challenges, several creatures exist in the normal game environment that are designed for raids to attack.[20][23] [edit]

I am learning more about recycle right now, and in particular what I 'm wondering about is:Why people don't like to recycle? I was researching this question online, and this poem caught my attention because I really like it. "Please Recycle by Erin Michele Pacey Please recycle the love that we share... Please recycle the time that we spend together... Please recycle our freedom... Please recycle our friendship... Please recycle my life... Please recycle yourself... Please recycle me... Please recycle us." The poem I chose here is basically saying that we should recycle if we want our life to be great. I think this is strong Please because.....It makes me wonder that why do we have to beg for people to do there good.

I'm learning more about synastry right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is: How accurate is it? I was researching this question online, and this blog post caught my attention because it actually focuses on two real, well-known, people. "The patnership works best when they pursue goals with passionate commitment. Obviously there is the need to be aware that this can be a difficult contact and they have had their fair share of psychic conflicts that can at times spill out into violence of some sort. Lisa's control and distance can create passionate fury in Patrick's Mars. The couple have faced a lot in their relationship and this shows in their more difficult contacts. Patrick has battled alcohol, cocain and a riding accident that almost left him paralyzed, and his final battle was the fight against Cancer." The quote I chose here is basically saying that because of their synastry the two celebrities blend well. Also, their personalities tend to make them work together more. I think this is great support in favor of my topic because it focuses on real people providing an accurate example. It makes me wonder if I'll find more articles like this. I hope so. I kind of want to change my question. I can't find enough news articles on the topic.

Help For Shopaholics Stop Compulsive Shopping - 0 views
-
Have you ever felt like you need to go shopping and shopping everyday until you brought everything you wanted? Something that I have been interested in learning more about has been Shopaholics. I remember seeing this movie last year that made me wonder about people who are Shopaholics. Lately, the issue has caught my eye again. I know that many people feel that being Shopaholic is really bad because it damages your living style. From what I have heard, being Shopaholic isn't something bad. It's just a way of being. You just shop and shop. It's not like if you creating a crime. I know that it's like a sickness that can't make you stop. But if it's really affecting your life then you have to give that up. For example, I heard that Shopaholic is more like able to be out of control. Shopping does not only effect the shopper it also effects family members, spouses, loved ones and friends. Many times married over active spenders will be divorced and in debt before they can control their spending habits. Now that's just what I've heard, it may or may not be true. One thing that I know for sure about is that Shopaholics do suffer a lot when it comes to money. Many Shopaholics end up having a big amount of budget. And I also know that Compulsive shopping is a serious condition that affects thousands of people's lives in America. Another fact that I know is that one major key to successfully overcoming compulsive shopping is simply taking responsibility for ones own actions. Stop denying the problem and or blaming others. Shopaholics who truly want help need to say enough is enough. Once a shopaholic realizes that shopping is just not worth the troubles that are caused from shopping excessively things get much easier. Make the decision to change and change will come. Now I've studied my share of Philosophy, and I believe that if being a Shopaholic damages your life... then you should make a change to take that out of your life. Personally, it's funny to me

Something that I have been interested in learning more about has been Alcohol. I remember my Uncle drinking Beer at a party. And I remember him telling people that Beer is the best thing to drink. At that time, I didn't know what he meant by that. Lately, the issue has caught my eye again. I know that many people feel that Alcohol is not really bad for men and women. From what I have heard, Alcohol is bad for people. For example, I heard that alcohol damages your body and brain. Now that's just what I've heard, it may or may not be true. One thing that I know for sure about Alcohol is that it's really harmful for Teenagers. Now I've studied my share of Medicine, and I believe that Alcohol is bad for everyone that drinks it every day in their life. It affects their brain and body. I also know that if your drink a lot of alcohol like beer, you have a great possibility of getting fat. And this is true because my Uncle got fat throughout time. And Why? Because he kept drinking beer. Personally, it's funny to me how people know the effects on alcohol and they keep on consuming it. Alcohol wasn't important to me in the past, because I'm not suppose to be learning about Alcohol when I'm only six years old. What I know about Alcohol is that it makes you act in a bad way. It damages your body. Alcohol makes you feel like in pain. Being that I didn't have a lot of background information on Alcohol, I chose to do some research on the topic. As I searched for blogs and news articles on Google, I came across this one article: http://howdoigetoffdrugs.com/2010/01/negative-effects-of-excessive-alcohol-consumption-on-the-body/. It can also be fatal to their health if left untreated. And that substantial alcoholic substances drinking on a common basis causes chemical changes to a indi

Environment Institute strives to shrink carbon footprint - 0 views

Something that I have been interested in learning more about has been about Environment. I remember my Math Teacher talking about it during his math class, but I didn't have a good explanation on what he really meant. Lately, the issue had caught my eye again. I know that many people feel that why is the environment important to the world and us? From what I have heard many scientist say that we need to have the environment clean. For example I hread that if we dont keep the environment clean we are destryoing ourselves. Now that's what I have heard, it may or may not be true. On thing that I know for sure about Environment is that it's what we live in and we need to make the best of it. Now I've studied my share of Biology and I believe that the Environment is caused by the smokes and other stuff that damages the world. Personally that's what I know and it may sound kind of funny but hey that's what ever one says. The most important about this topic is that Environment is what it keeps us on this world. An important quote that I believe that is given alot of information is where it says: Be the change you want to see in the world, said former UCL student Mahatma Gandhi - and staff at the UCL Environment Institute are acting on his advice.Staff calculated the carbon footprint of their work-related travel as part of an ongoing attempt to reduce the institute's impact on the environment. The study was based on the movements of a total of 12 staff and three PhD students during the 2007/08 academic year. The staff based their calculations on guidelines from the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).They used the guidelines to calculate precisely how much carbon was emitted in the course of their work-related travel. According to the article :: The total carbon dioxide emissions for staff in 2007/08 amounted to 29.64 tonnes as a result of 231,700 kilometres of travel - an average of 2.5 tonnes per person. Something that I have been interested in learning more about has been danger flowers. I remember my Science teacher in third grade talking about it I was very young, but I didn't really understand it because I was very young. Lately, the issue has caught my eye again. I know that many people feel that some flowers are very danger. From what I have heard, this is true. Some flowers are very danger and can harm you. For example, I heard that there is this specific flowers that can kill you if you touch it or eat it. Now that's just what I've heard, it may or may not be true. One thing that I know for sure is that some flowers are healthy and others are bad. Now I've studied my share of Environmental Science, and I believe that it's something that people should know just in case you don't know that some flowers are danger. Personally, it's funny to me how flowers that are mainly red are the ones who are poisen. This was immportant in the past because, back then there was many people dieing for strange reasons due to poisen flowers. What I know about this topic is that you should be very careful with kids because kids are the ones that usually pick flowers and sometimes end up eating it. The flower is the reproductive structure of angiosperms or flowering plants. Compared to the reproductive structures of other plants, the flower is unique in several ways. It consists of four kinds of modified leaves, two of which (stamens and carpels, the latter sometimes called pistils) bear pollen and seeds. According to the fossil record, flowering plants appeared only about 140 million years ago, although some recently found fossil evidence suggests that they appeared 80 million years before that. Being that I didn't have a lot of background information on danger flowers, I chose to do some research on the topic. As I searched for blogs and news articles on Google, I came across this one article: http://www.ansci.cornell.edu/plants/. This article provided a lot of info

The podcast, "Searching For Flushing Main Street's Pimp", caught me by surprise. I thought the Flushing Pimp had been killed by another person. I had heard he died, but I wasn't sure how until now. I expected it the information to be on the internet by now, but I guess a primary source is the best way to gather information. When the podcasters found out that they were on to something, I thought they did a good job in expressing their reactions when they discovered something new. The main part was when they found out that someone from their school actually knew the pimp since he lived in the same apartment that she did. I thought this was a fairly lucky find. Another part that stood out to me was in the beginning of the podcast when one of them said, "I don't think he's a pimp.", because I thought the same thing. I think they only called him a pimp because he dressed like one. In the end, I discovered he wasn't really a pimp after all. It was fairly well edited, and I thank you for sharing your podcast. I think there have been a few clips at least instead of just images of the pimp.

I've seen him on the street very often for the pass three years but I just realized that he's not around here anymore. I used to see him all the time on Main street and he's always talking to himself.

I agree with you Masaki, This post caught me by surprise too. I really didn't know that a person with so much going on in his body could continue to move on, Many people with those type of problems would lay down and accept defeat but he continued to move on and dress good. Although many people laughed at him or talked about him he continued to do what he does. That is what i call determaination

From both a social and psychological standpoint, video games have the ability to influence their players both on implicit and explicit levels.

Research on aggressive behavior as an effect of playing violent video games began in the 1980s and 1990s and still continues today.

some researchers claim that these violent games may cause more intense feelings of aggression than nonviolent games, and may trigger feelings of anger and hostility. Several studies that have supported such findings.

The average gamer, far from being a teen, is actually a 35-year-old man who is overweight, aggressive, introverted โ and often depressed, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).[4]

Female video game characters are often hypersexualized and unrealistic,[8][9] and have been shown to play a factor in hard-core gamersโ perceptions of ideal beauty

This repetition of violence and reward system create a psychological effect on people telling them that violence is okay.

This addiction could lead to physical health problems, spending problems, and time displacement leading to missed work or school days. In one example, a 28 year old South Korean gamer died after 50 hours of StarCraft online gameplay.[12]

The rise in childhood obesity in the U.S. has raised awareness of media consumption in children.[citation needed] Not only are parents and organizations blaming the food industry for the problem, but they are turning to television and video games as a key factor. Displacement Theory supports the notion that the time that would normally be spent being active outdoors or in sports, children are now replacing with leisure and inactive time in front of the television.[citation needed] Others tend the blame the problem on parental enforcement.[citation needed]

The interactive nature allows for high levels of entertainment, but has not yet been shown to subtract from the educational lessons being taught. Additionally, developers are beginning to change the view of traditional video games by creating popular games that require the player to be active -Wii Fit, Dance Dance Revolution- or focus on using brain power -Brain Age 2.

Many authors disagree with the notion that suggests that the media can cause violence, they think that media cannot cause violence because human can recognize what is wrong and what is right and people are not copycats

Journalist and author, David Sheff, believes that many skills can be learned from the gaming experience, it builds practical and intellectual skills,โ by playing video games children gain problem solving abilities, perseverance, pattern recognition, hypothesis testing, estimating skills, inductive skills, resources management, logistics mapping, memory, quick thinking and reasonal judgementsโ. [26]
-
There are many positive effects of video games on some people as suggested by some researches; people play because they want to get away from their everyday life, break routine, to relive stress, allow them to cool off when they are stressful, could help people take out their anger through the game rather in real life because they are fun and interesting way to spend time. [25]

In research undertaken by Acta Psychologica, in a number of tasks, video game experts outperformed non-gamers. Experts were able to track objects moving at greater speeds, perform more accurately in a visual short-term memory test, switch between tasks more quickly, and make decisions about rotated objects more quickly and accurately.

Every Experience Changes the Brain | Odeo: Search, Discover and Share Digital Media fro... - 0 views

In this podcast, the author is actually advertising the Maharishi University of Management, but in the act he discusses consciousness and its importance in education. I found it especially interesting because it takes the perspective of a biological consciousness. It describes experience as "traces in the brain" and the distinctive "connection of neurons." In addition to this he brought up the point that the brain is constantly changing; "Over 70 percent of the brain changes everyday." However, this make me wonders where is the evidence to back up this assertion. Although somewhat unconvincing for me, this podcast raises a very important point: is consciousness physical? I hope I could answer this question but it is plausible that such a question would remain unanswered for a long time. Neuroscience and the biological perspectives on cognition are still young, but I am certainly that progress will come at any time.

Members of the Farming First coalition believe that: Agriculture generally, and farmers especially, are vital to mitigate and adapt to climate change. Increasing farm productivity in a sustainable way and decreasing waste and losses can significantly mitigate the effects of climate change, prevent deforestation, and protect biodiversity. Adopting proven sustainable agricultural practices reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and enhances the effect of natural carbon sinks. Further research and innovation are essential to invent the necessary adaptation and mitigation solutions. Therefore, farmers must be involved in implementing climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies. To support them, we must create sound and reliable incentives; we must share knowledge; and we must make adequate tools and technologies accessible to deliver both food and energy security. As key stakeholders in agriculture, the worldโs farmers, agronomists, scientists, engineers and industries are working together through an open coalition, to provide innovative solutions which reduce emissions from agriculture and adapt to climate change while increasing agricultural productivity to meet growing food needs.

its good that we are haveing more knowledge to get world hungary over with because i though that they are really bad when they have alot of food shortage speically in the desert parts there is like no way that they can grow food but with our powers now i think that we can actually grow food at places liek that which can help them which is great. i though that it's great in many ways because with this i thin k that they can help them solve thier thing

I'm learning more about food security right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is how to reduce the chance of food insecurity and get a better way to produce more food. I was researching this question online, and this blog post, "Climate/Farming First" caught my attention because it answered my question and listed a lot of useful sources of ways. The quote I chose here is basically saying that the change of the climate affects the amount and quality of agricultural production directly. For example, greenhouse gas emission would affect the quality of the production or even reduce the amount of it. As a result, professors in various fields from all over the world tried to do research and explore ways to solve this problem. I think this is very amazing because I didn't know that the surroundings would also affect the agriculture production, which might lead to great food insecurity. It makes me wonder whether the experts have thought of good ways to solve the issue. I'm also wondering if I would also be able to contribute to their research in the future.

In my work at the Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN), one of my responsibilities is to help smallholder farmers adapt and create climate-resilient farming methods. Such knowledge exists but often fails to reach Africa's vast rural populations.

When I was a child growing up in Zimbabwe, my grandmother used to go to the same one-acre plot of land each day and work long and exhausting hours. When I asked her why she put herself through this, she replied: "This is how I wake up every day, this is how I survive." I am now in my twenties and my grandmother is still out there on her plot each day. She continues to till her field with a hand hoe, using seed saved from previous harvests, and applying a teaspoonful of fertiliser per maize plant. Her working hours and type of inputs have remained the same over the years; however, the yields have been declining drastically.

The expriences that she has is really interested me.

I am currently learning about Africa's food security. I read this article "fighting for Africa's foo Security" by Sithembile Ndema. This article. Ms.Ndema speaks a bit about her child hood in Zimbabwe and how she would see her grandmother go to the same one acre plot of land each day, where she would work long hours growing crops. It is how she survived "This is how i wake up everyday, this is how i survive." " She continues to till her field with a hand hoe using seed saved from previous harvest, and applying a teaspoonful of fertiliser per maize plant. Her working hours and type if in outs have remained the same over the years, how ever, the yeilds have been declining drastically." The quote above is basically describing what sithembile's grandmother does. It also address the problem. " Yeilds have been declining drastically." I think this is a serious problem because this is how many people survive. It makes me wonder what other people can do to help. As i was reading this article i began to wonder how i will help this article also made me appreciate the many things that i have and the opportunity's that others do not

Yet today, in 2010, the effects of climate change are exacerbating an already vulnerable food supply in Africa, leaving farmers less capable of providing for themselves, let alone their communities. African farmers need to be able to access the knowledge and tools with which to grow a food-secure future for Africa. This would include, for example, the most effective and cost-efficient fertilisers and seeds, and improved access to markets.

While many young people do not seem to care about agriculture, they should acknowledge the fundamental role it plays in our lives. Not only does it feed the cities, but it also feeds factories with the raw ingredients needed to continue building an economy. One Young World will give me a chance to promote the importance of agriculture among my peers, and to help them understand its role in creating a food-secure, economically-stable Africa in the future.

Political instability, global poverty and health, the financial crisis, religious conflicts and climate change are all issues that affect us and require long-term solutions to address substantially.

I'm learning more about Food Security right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is: Is this a problem of politics or science? In other words can we right now "Young people have the advantage of having grown up in a globally connected world, within which we communicate more quickly and broadly than perhaps any other generation before us. Whilst young people may not yet have the power to drive policies, we will be the ones who must accept the big challenges of the future which are as yet unresolved: from population growth to climate change to market reform and the end of poverty."

I'm learning more about food security right now and in particular what I'm wondering about is how the next generation will take over to fight the challenge. I was researching this question online and this article caught my attention because it was written by a 24 year old woman who has worked in the field all her life. She grew up in Zimbabwe and she used to watch her grandmother work long exhausting days as a child and even now. Because of her grandmother, she wants to make a difference as she attempts to get her generation more active in facing world problems.\n\n"Whilst young people may not yet have the power to drive policies, we will be the ones who must accept the big challenges of the future which are as yet unresolved: from population to climate change to market reform and the end of poverty."\n\nThe quote I chose here is basically saying that she is calling out to the younger generation for help. Even though we don't have as much power as many others, we still have the power to try. It's up to us to contribute to changing the world.\n\nI think this is strong and hopefully it will motivate the younger generation to volunteer more and acknowledge these world issues. It makes me wonder what will happen in the future when it comes to youth involvement in the world. Will youth voices slowly disappear? Will anyone care anymore?

"Young people have the advantage of having grown up in a globally connected world, within which we communicate more quickly and broadly than perhaps any other generation before us." The quote I chose here is basically saying the younger generation can spread awareness because of the technology nowadays, news can be heard around the world. I think this is strong statement because it's true. That's how most people hear the news. Online, texting, watching television, and social networking. Many youngsters don't really read the newspaper. It's easier to just check the news websites online.

I'm learning more about food security in Africa right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is why is there such a huge food shortage in Africa? While i was researching this question online i found this blog, entitled " Fighting for Africa's food security" It caught my attention because it seemed like it would be interesting and that the answer to my question would be within this blog. I thought this because of the title it had the words food security in it which i know is related to hunger so, it caught my attention. "When I asked her why she put herself through this, she replied: "This is how I wake up every day, this is how I survive." I am now in my twenties and my grandmother is still out there on her plot each day. She continues to till her field with a hand hoe, using seed saved from previous harvests, and applying a teaspoonful of fertiliser per maize plant. I'm learning more about Fighting for Africa's food security right now , and in particular what I'm wondering about is how people work so hard? I was researching this question online, and this article caught my attention because it shows how people in Africa need help. "She continues to till her field with a hand hoe, using seed saved from previous harvests, and applying a teaspoonful of fertiliser per maize plant. Her working hours and type of inputs have remained the same over the years; however, the yields have been declining drastically. " This quote I chose here is basically saying how they wake up early and start to work so they can get something to eat. I think that this is strong because for them they have to work really hard to find food. Another quote that I liked was " "This is how I wake up every day, this is how I survive." I like this quote because it shows how they are willing to survive no matter what.

"Yet today, in 2010, the effects of climate change are exacerbating an already vulnerable food supply in Africa, leaving farmers less capable of providing for themselves, let alone their communities. " Well right now I'm learning about Food Security and in particular what I'm wondering is that if the problem in climate change in Africa has to do with global warming. There has to be a reason why the climate changing is occurring in Africa. It probably all has to do with global warming. I think maybe that we humans are the ones who caused the decrease in food security. God doesn't that suck....

It's too bad that these type of things happen in other parts of the world. I feel so spoiled and bad compared to these people. I'm so lucky and blessed to have the life that I have and that things are sometimes just handed to me and that opportunities are everywhere. I hope these type of lives will one day be over so that everyone can live a wonderful and fruitful life instead of having a hard working life like this.

I'm learning more about Africa's food security right now, and in particular what I'm wondering is: Why isn't the younger generation helping the older generation? I was researching this question online, and this news item caught my attention because, all the changes that they are talking about is going to affect them in the long run and if they don't something about it now then it would be harder to fix later. The title of the news article is Fighting For Africa's Food Security. Something that i saw in the summary was that they are trying to fix the problem with Africa and they are trying to make a better way to get the young generation involved since they are not involved at all. "Political instability, global poverty and health, the financial crisis, religious conflicts and climate change are all issues that affect us and require long-term solutions to address substantially." I think this is a strog description because, if peoplee don't worry the sudden changes now how are they going to fix them later. I think that fixing the problem now will be more easier because later if you try to fix it some obstacles might be in the way.

I'm learning more about Food Security right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is what else affects food security. I was researching this question online, and this blog post caught my attention because it said a bunch of other stuff that would affect food security. I chose this passage because it interests me to learn more about how other things contribute to food security. \n\n"Political instability, global poverty and health, the financial crisis, religious conflicts and climate change are all issues that affect us and require long-term solutions to address substantially."\n\nThe quote I chose here is basically saying that other things like political instability, climate changes, etc are also affecting food security in countries. \n\nI think this is true because it makes me wonder how governments or people who represent us would cause a big effect on food security. I also think that climate changes can cause the most effect on food security because it changes the weather and also causes the temperature to change all around the world. It also causes the world to have more natural disasters all around. Many people lives also changes as the weather around them change.

I'm learning more about food security right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is: How does food security affect Africa? I was researching this question online and this blog post was attached on one of the pages on www.urgentevoke.com. It caught my attention because in the urgent evoke game they made up a hypothetical situation of food security and I wanted to know about an actual one.\n\n"When I was a child growing up in Zimbabwe, my grandmother used to go to the same one-acre plot of land each day and work long and exhausting hours. When I asked her why she put herself through this, she replied: "This is how I wake up every day, this is how I survive." Her working hours and type of inputs have remained the same over the years; however, the yields have been declining drastically. "\n\nThe quote I chose here is basically saying that agriculture is the main source of food in Africa and the people have to work for their entire lives on crops and farming.\n\nI think this is interesting because people have to do a lot of hard labor. It makes me wonder why in the U.S. and other countries, people are able to retire after a certain age. But, in Africa they have to work their entire lives.

I'm learning more about food security right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is: Why is there food security? I was researching this question online and this news item caught my attention because it talks about the reasons why there are food shortages. "The effects of climate change are exacerbating an already vulnerable food supply in Africa, leaving farmers less capable of providing for themselves alone. let alone their communities." The quote i chose here is basically saying that due to global warming, and recent climate changes, crops are not growing as well as they could. As the heat, and cold gets worse plants will not be able to survive. I think this is will not be good for the economy because without farmers being able to grow crops, that means less food for the humanity. It makes me wonder how much longer, it will take before food runs out, and people starve to death. Will the scientists figure out a way for more heat-resistant plants?

I'm learning more about food security in Africa right now, and in particular what im wondering about is Why is food security such a big thing in Africa. i was researching this question online and this news article caught my attention because Mr.Allison myi english teacher pointed it out to me.\n\n"She continues to till her field with a hand hoe, using seed saved from previous harvests, and applying a teaspoonful of fertiliser per maize plant. Food security is important because she wants to be able to feed her family.\n\ni think this is interesting because It makes me wonder about how food security is in other places outside the United States.

By 1985, the major guerrilla groups (EPL, FARC-EP, M-19, and ELN) had come together under an umbrella organization known as the Guerrilla Coordinating Board (CNG). This group evolved in 1987 into the Simรณn Bolรญvar Guerrilla Coordinating Board (CGSB), which led negotiations between the numerous guerrilla groups and the government. While the CGSB did achieve some of its goals, its success was very limited. The CGSB's initiative led to the successful peace process with the M-19. The FARC-EP and ELN, on the other hand, decided to continue their struggle.

The FARC-EP have demanded a mechanism for prisoner exchange, which would involve the liberation of 21 military and police "prisoners of war"[12] (not including civilians held for extortion or ransom, which may number in the thousands) that the group currently holds, in exchange for the release of at least 500 jailed criminal rebels. During the duration of the DMZ negotiations, a small humanitarian exchange took place.
-
FARC receives most of its funding -which has been estimated to average some $300 million per year- from taxation of the illegal drug trade, ransom kidnappings, bank robberies, and extortion of large landholders, multinational corporations, and agribusines
-
Drug trafficking Main article: Illegal drug trade in Colombia FARC-EP was not initially involved in direct drug cultivation, trafficking, or trans-shipment prior to or during the 1980s. Instead, it maintained a system of taxation on the production that took place in the territories that they controlled, in exchange for protecting the growers and establishing law and order in these regions by implementing its own rules and regulations[100][101]. During the 1990s, FARC expanded its operations, in some areas, to include trafficking and production, which has provided a significant portion of its funding[102]. Right-wing paramilitary groups also receive a large portion of their income from drug trafficking and production operations[102]. FARC has called for crop substitution programs that would allow coca farmers to find alternative means of income and subsistence. In 1999, FARC worked with a United Nations alternative development project to enable the transition from coca production to sustainable food production. On its own, the group has also implemented agrarian reform programs in Putumayo[103][100][101][104]. In areas where it is involved in coca production, FARC generally makes sure that peasant coca growers receive a much larger share of profits than the paramilitaries would give them[105][99][101], and demands that traffickers pay a decent wage to their workers[99]. According to journalist and author Garry Leech, when growers in a FARC-controlled area are caught selling coca to non-FARC brokers, they are generally forced to leave the region, but when growers are caught selling to FARC in paramilitary-controlled areas, they are generally killed[105]. He concludes that the lower prices paid for raw coca in paramilitary-controlled areas lead to significantly larger profits for the drug processing and trafficking organizations, which means that they generally prefer that paramilitaries control an area rather than FARC[105]. After the April 21, 2001 capture of Brazilian druglord Luiz Fernando da Costa (aka Fernandinho Beira-Mar) in Colombia, Colombian and Brazilian authorities accused him of cooperating with FARC-EP through the exchange of weapons for cocaine. They also claimed that he received armed protection from the guerrilla group.[106][107][108] [edit] Kidnappings Main article: Kidnappings in Colombia The FARC-EP is responsible for ransom kidnappings in Colombia. The groupโs kidnapping targets are usually those that it considers wealthy landowners and businessmen, the police and military, as well as foreign tourists and entrepreneurs, and prominent international and domestic officials.[109] Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has expressed his disagreement with their resorting to kidnappings[110]. [edit] Human rights concerns
-
Child soldiers FARC-EP, the ELN, and right-wing paramilitaries all train teens as soldiers and informants. Human Rights Watch estimates that the FARC-EP has the majority of child combatants in Colombia, estimating that approximately one quarter of the guerrillas are under 18 years of age[112][113]. Forcible recruitment of children, by either side, is rare in Colombia; most of the children join of their own volition without any threats of force to themselves or their families. They join for a variety of reasons including poverty, lack of educational opportunities, avoiding work in the coca processing plants (which is dangerous), escaping from domestic violence, offers of money (mostly from paramilitaries, who pay their soldiers), and other reasons[113].
