It's Simple! Experience An Amazingly Real Lucid Dream! | Day To Day Tips - 0 views

  •
This is a detailed article about lucid dreaming and how fun it is for a person to experience it. Being able to lucid dream is like entering another dimension where weird is normal and life is extraordinary. I've never actually experienced lucid dreaming, but what I do know that Lucid dreaming is one of the funnest experiences a person can enjoy. The article states,"You can open your own doorway to some amazing experiences by learning and mastering the practice of Lucid Dreaming. Imagine if you will, having the ability to meet and interact with famous people, taking fantastic sci-fi adventures, visiting galaxies far away, creating and manipulating fantasy worlds and touring them or ruling them, and even finally having your dream job or hobby without all the work or mess to get there! You can even meet lost loved ones or distant relatives since anything is possible with your lucid dreaming imagination!" How wonderful will it be to be able to do all of those stuff? You know how sometimes when your mother forces you to go to sleep but you don't want to because you want to finish playing a video game or finish chatting with your favorite person? Some people don't enjoy sleeping because they believe that sleeping is a waste of time. However, if those people actually knew how it felt to be lucid dreaming, wouldn't they have the urge to go to sleep every night? It will be like an adventure waiting for you...Some people may be unhappy with their lives, but with the help of lucid dreaming, anything you want is possible ! ( in your dreams of course) So you're probably wondering, does everyone have the ability to lucid dream?Well yes of course ! With the help of technological developments, it is now possible for everyone to lucid dream. Others will tell you to try different foods such as pickles, ice cream, fish, popcorn etc because they swear by the ability of these foods to produce the right conditions for lucid dreaming. From another article that I've read, there are ways

The Philosophy of Music (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy) - 0 views

  • Kendall Walton argues (also with respect to tragedy) that sadness is not in itself negative. Rather, it is the situation to which sadness is the response that is negative.
    • Tianna EWSIS

      so true..so true...
  • One obvious suggestion is that our negative emotional response is a price we are willing to pay for the other benefits of engaging with the piece in question, such as (but not limited to) ‘positive’ emotional responses. While this sort of reasoning may play a role, it cannot be a complete solution, since for most pieces that elicit negative responses there are many others that elicit fewer, or less intense negative responses for the same positive payoff. More sophisticated versions of the same suggestion argue for a more intimate link between the negative emotional response and the payoff.
    • Tianna EWSIS

So, emotions are neither positive or negative. This goes to show are ignorant people could be on terms such as this one.
  • This is decisive if true, but there is plenty of room to quibble about our ability to test for the right kinds of imaginative activity, the selection of the subjects, and so on. A different kind of objection is that if the persona theory were true, expressive music could not constrain our imaginative activity in such a way as to yield convergent judgments of expressiveness among understanding listeners.
    • Tianna EWSIS

Music itself is a work of art that could touch even the evilest of people could enjoy.
  • ...3 more annotations...
  • The resemblance theorist must give some account of why the funeral march, and not the cup of coffee, is expressive of sadness, and not joy. Levinson claims that the obvious suggestion here is that the funeral march is ‘readily-hearable-as’ an expression of sadness. If this is correct, then the resemblance the music bears to emotional behavior is logically secondary — a cause or ground of its expressivity. The expressivity itself resides in the music's disposition to elicit the imaginative response in us of hearing the music as a literal expression of emotion. As a logical consequence, the imaginative experience prompted must include some agent whose expression the music literally is.
    • Tianna EWSIS

The type of music that you listen to doesn't change who you really are, alll it changes is how you feel for a period of time.
  • We say that a piece of music is sad in the same sense in which we say that a weeping willow is sad (S. Davies 2006, 183). Such uses are no more metaphorical than a claim that a chair has arms.
    • Tianna EWSIS

      Music can shape a story
  • The central problem is the great disparities between language and music, in terms of the ways in which each is both syntactic and semantic.
    • Tianna EWSIS

These two words sound very interesting....
  •
This is important because it tells me about what music does and why it causes such emotions like happiness and anger. Knowing what sound waves trigger certain emotions and the effects it had on the human body

Excellent example of a map that shows the changes people face when they are responding to a crisis. We are asked to imagine maps like this in http://www.urgentevoke.com Imagine - 7.

This is an excellent example of a real-world map of the future to show resilience at work, as is asked of us in Imagine - 7.

its a massive multiplayer role playing in short mmorpg i love playing mmorpg :3 yeahh i jus wanna take up space :D
    • AndreaLee EWSIS

Game creators consider seasons and the game has room for upgrading.
  • In it, players design a character to play based on a number of starting options, such as the race of character and its type or class.
    • Tian EWSIS

I like that players can design their own charactors.
    • Andrea. C

yea, it sounds like it's funner if the game has different jobs to play
    • Chun Heng EWSIS

it is the top online game throughout the wolrd =)
    • Ammy EWSIS

There are many games similar to this.. such as maple story, flyff, ragnorak... its nothing new. The only thing good about WoW is the graphics and the fact that they update the game every single week. I'm rather tired of kinds of games because all you do is level and fight. It got pretty boring to me.

this is for the whole paragraph the combat seems so interesting

its hard to find a mmorpg that doesnt have a character design feature unless it is really crappy or low quality even then its still hard to find one thats well known
    • Hannah EWSIS

I agree with Justin almost all have character design features.
    • Anna EWSIS

Yeah I know what you mean ammy. At first I was addicted to MS but all i did was level and fight. It bored me.
    • Michael Harris

I like that fact that you can obtain a character based on race
    • Noreen C

Why is it so important to have a character design? I mean I get it when a person picks what character they want to be, but why do you need to pick the color of their hair, or race?

  • al and periodical events have also been added, such as Halloween, Midsummer and weekly fishing competitions
    • Tian EWSIS

Although it's in a fictional world, there are still realistic things, such as Halloween. This makes the game more attractive and interesting.
    • Houin EWSIS

i agree with you,the game will following the real holiday and create some activitly or quest about the holiday.
    • Andrea. C

Yea, I think when there's events like these, people get drawn in because they get rare items or whatever
    • MelissaB EWSIS

I think that this is giving people a excuse to be anti social and have no life why talk to real people or go outside when there is a whole vertual reality the mirrors the real world.
    • Shehrina EWSIS

I agree too. holidays always makes pepole happy and when there favorite holidays are in the game its more interesting.
    • Yuval S

I agree, I like the idea of putting special things for special events.
    • Noreen C

But isn't one of the main attractions of video games to put people in an alternate world? I, in fact, don't think the game is very realistic. The whole idea of fantasy is what is so different from real world. I think that's what is most appealing.
    • AndreaLee EWSIS

Professions are different from roles. You can actually get useful skills fit for that profession.
  • Characters can be resurrected by other characters that have the ability, or can self-resurrect by moving from the graveyard to the place where they died.
  • To start, players select a game realm or server to play on.

This sound fun, and very engaging becasue people can can create characters depending the person.
  • roleplay versions of both these types, where players are encouraged to control their character as if they were an inhabitant of a fantasy world
    • Helen EWSIS

I can't imagine someone getting so in to the game... but I guess it's fairly normal also. How do you do that? o_o
    • Luis EWSIS

This sounded like Sims, but it would be interesting to have this combination of battle and civil life

A lot of people go ODE about the game. you will if you also play
    • Noreen C

This does sound like Sims, however it is more fantasy. I guess it's what someone wants to get out of the game. I think that the idea of going on hunts and the whole monsters and dragons thing makes it very different than Sims.
  • In one of the updates following the release of the Burning Crusade expansion, the rate at which characters gain experience from killing monsters was increased, along with reducing the amount of experience required to gain further skills and abilities.

"Racial traits" does not only determine the appearance of each charactor, but also affect their skills in combat. I like how this is designed.
  • Characters are also able to learn two primary professions from a list of ten. These can be gathering professions, such as mining, herb gathering, or animal skinning. World of Warcraft is a place where people can leave their everyday lives and live a "cooler" much perfered life to escape reality. It is here where a great world of interaction occurs and technology truely shines as we see it in action.

General idea of questing. Awards and experience points are given after completing a quest.
  • As well as banding together to form groups, players can also band together to form guilds. These structures allow players several benefits, such as easier communication and an identifying guild name and tabard. Guild members can also be given access to a central pool of resources known as a guild bank.[13] Guilds can also make use of an in-game calendar, allowing guild members to view scheduled events, and respond to them with whether they can attend or not. This calendar can also be accessed without need to log-in to the game, using the Armory feature.[14]

  • Death Knights are a hero class, which means the player needs a level 55 (at least) and they start at level 55 with many skills, abilities, weapons and armor. While a character can be played on its own, players can also group up with others in order to tackle more challenging content. In this way, character classes are used in specific roles within a group

  • Players can discover 'flight masters' in newly discovered locations and then use those NPCs in order to fly to previously discovered locations in other parts of the world.[19
  • As well as banding together to form groups, players can also band together to form guilds.
    • Tian EWSIS

Players can interact with each other, which makes the game more fun. The players can also share experience with each other.
  • Depending on the race chosen and the expansions installed, a player then has four to seven of the game's ten character classes to choose from.
    • Helen EWSIS

I'm a little confused... based on whatever they choose before, they then choose another character classes??
    • Houin EWSIS

the game only have 3 main character, after up lvl,it can upgrade to other character.

    • AndreaLee EWSIS

Overall, I am very bored of this lesson and feel that this is pointless because I really don't care about the history or explanation of the "Gameplay of World of Warcraft." Plus, this game is rather boring and makes me not want to play. Great.
    • Kim T

I agree. The game seems really confusing and pointless. I don't find it necessary to learn about a fantasy world that isn't really interesting or beneficial.

  • n this game world, players use their characters to explore locations, defeat creatures and complete quests.
    • Tian EWSIS

Players have to explore locations themselves. That means the plot is not determined by the game and it will leave the players more to imagine.
    • Ammy EWSIS

I like exploring in games especially when the game has very good graphics.
    • JustinM EWSIS

same old style of gameplay lols
  • Although the game world remains reasonably similar from day to day, changes have been made over time. Seasonal events that reflect on real world events such as Halloween (as Hallow's End),[23] Christmas (as Winter Veil), Children's Week,[24] Easter (as Noblegarden) and Midsummer run for a period of a day or two up to several weeks.

  • We had one nurse at our hotel, so he was out front helping people who were coming in who were injured. When word got out that there was a nurse at our hotel, people just started bringing their injured family members to the hotel. I was deputized by the nurse to help in whatever way I could. So he would tell me where a broken bone was, and I had to learn on the sly how to make a splint.

  • The World Health Organization said it had sent specialists to help clear the city of corpses, and the International Red Cross was sending a plane loaded mainly with body bags. Medicine, food and water are in short supply. And Haitians are desperate for aid.
  • The injuries just kept coming all day long—head injuries, people with multiple broken legs, people catatonic who couldn’t speak. Everybody is asking for medicine. You know, we don’t have basic—we don’t have Advil.
  • It’s hard to describe. I was working on a boy who his father was there speaking in Creole, so we were trying to get a good translation, but basically what he explained was that their house collapsed, and he got out, but his son was trapped under the rubble. But he could—his son could still yell, and they spent all night trying to find him, and finally they dug him out, and they brought him to our hotel, because there was one nurse at our hotel.

After watching the video, I was utterly speechless. It's really sad to know that another country is in desperate help of need, especially when they weren't in a good state before.Having a massive earthquake hit a city that;s already in poverty is really devastating. The situation is almost similar to that of the tsunami that happened just a few years ago. Other countries are contributing by sending over aid and people to help revive the city and help the people. Most of the buildings have collapsed and many of the few buildings had cracks. It's very interesting to hear about different people who were visiting Haiti speak about their experience during the disaster. Over thousands of people in Haiti are currently homeless and injured. A person walking by would be able to witness bodies being crushed by concrete and bodies covered by a sheet of blanket laying on the floor. The country is now short in water supply, food, money, and many important factors. People are desperate for aid and money. I think it's great that other countries aren't just standing by and not doing anything. I hope in the future, they will be able to revive most of the damaged buildings and maybe the people there will find jobs and homes again.

Why Global Warming Portends a Food Crisis - TIME - 1 views

  • A comforting thought, except for one thing: it's not true. A study published in the Jan. 9 issue of Science shows that far from compensating for the damages associated with climate change (heavier and more frequent storms, increasing desertification, sea-level rise), hotter temperatures will seriously diminish the world's ability to feed itself.
  •
"It can be difficult in the middle of winter - especially if you live in the frigid Northeastern U.S., as I do - to remain convinced that global warming will be such a bad thing. Beyond the fact that people prefer warmth to cold, there's a reason the world's population is clustered in the Tropics and subtropics: warmer climates usually mean longer and richer growing seasons. So it's easy to imagine that on a warmer globe, the damage inflicted by more frequent and severe heat waves would be balanced by the agricultural benefits of warmer temperatures." im learning more about this because i jsut finshed reading this i though that this is a good thing and a bad thing becuase i saw it on netgeo that if the earth temptrue go up by 1 or 2 is a major change in the earth it can affect alot of differet things however since global warming gets warmer it means that there will be easyier to grow food however if it keeps on getting hotter is going to be really bad im sure so i guess we need to stp this becuase it's jsut simply bad. in many different ways we are doing this as as a bookmark to show that we did some work and i thought that this article is really cool

I'm learning more about how global warming is causing a food crisis all over the world right now and in particular what I'm wondering about is: what is going to happen if nothing is done? I was researching this question online and this article caught my attention because it describes what might happen in the future by providing statistics and evidence. \n\n"In Italy, maize yields fell 36% in 2003, compared with the previous year, and in France they fell 30%. Similar effects were seen during a major heat wave in 1972, which decimated farms in the former Soviet Union, helping push grain prices to worryingly high levels. If those trends hold in the future, the researchers estimate that half the world's population could face a climate-induced food crisis by 2100."\n\nThe quote I chose here is basically saying that global warming is already affecting many countries. We can also see that it has greatly affected us in the past as well. If further actions are not taken, we might all be in a really bad situation the coming years.\n\nI think this is very alarming because it states strong evidence that global warming is affecting agriculture and food production. It makes me wonder what will happen in the future. Will the world be in a climate-induced food crisis by 2100? But, even with all the talks about trying to change the situation, I don't see much change and impact on society. People are procrastinating and not taking this issue seriously. Maybe we'll all just die.
  •
I totally disagree with this statement. Yes, people may enjoy warmer weather and "It can be difficult in the middle of winter - especially if you live in the frigid Northeastern U.S., as I do - to remain convinced that global warming will be such a bad thing. Beyond the fact that people prefer warmth to cold, there's a reason the world's population is clustered in the Tropics and subtropics: warmer climates usually mean longer and richer growing seasons. So it's easy to imagine that on a warmer globe, the damage inflicted by more frequent and severe heat waves would be balanced by the agricultural benefits of warmer temperatures."
  •
"With these frightening predictions in mind, we need to try to heat-proof our agriculture. That can be accomplished by using crops that have proved resistant to extreme heat - like sorghum or millet - to breed hybrid-crop varieties that are more capable of withstanding higher temperatures. We'll need to drop any squeamishness about consuming genetically modified crops. Unless we can tap the power of genetics, we'll never feed ourselves in a warmer world. But we'll need to act quickly. It can take years to breed more heat-resistant species, and investment in agricultural research has shriveled in recent years." This is a great way to get ideas going to test what can work and what won't work in these tough times. We have to figure out ways to continue growing crops through these harsh and terrible weather conditions. We have to be smart and conduct new ways. We need this. Really badly. Its the only way we can help the starving people around the world and how we can help farmers make good money in more than one season.

I'm learning more about food security right now,and in particular what I'm wondering about is:why global warning portends a food Crisis?I was researching this question online, and this blog post caught my attention because it have told what will happen in Africa. "Yet many climatologists believe that global warming will make dry areas dryer and further damage farming, which is especially dire news for sub-Saharan Africa, a region that already struggles with heat waves, droughts and famines even as population continues to grow. "Climate change is going to be a major concern for Africa," says Nteranya Sanginga, director of the Tropical Soil Biology and Fertility Institute of the International Center for Tropical Agriculture in Nairobi. "We could lose whole growing seasons."" The quote I chose here is basically saying that the Africa will lose the whole growing season, because the temperature in Africa have the higher temperature effect by the Battisti and Naylor ,it is not the possible effect of changing precipitation patterns. The climatologists believe that global warning will make the dry areas dryer and further damage farming. It make the climate is changing is going be a major concern for Africa. I think this is amazing because it makes me wonder that there have so many country don't have enough food for their people, and because the climate change, make some place can't grow the plants again,so i think if you want solve the problem of the food security, one of the thing you need to do is solve the global warning, make it don't not effect the climate.

I'm learning more about "food security" right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is: what really caused this problem. I was researching this question online, and this article, "Why Globing Warming Portends a Food Crisis" caught my attention because it made me realize the connection between two big global issues. The quote I chose here is basically saying as the temperatures on this planet becomes higher and higher, more and more food is going to be damaged. I think this is really serious because we all would die without food. It makes me wonder what would happen if the temperatures keep going up and causing more serious food security issue. I hope there would be a way to solve these problems.

Adora Svitak: What adults can learn from kids | Video on TED.com - 0 views

  • nt occurrence. Every time we make irrationa
  • Now, I want to start with a question: When was the last time you were called childish? For kids like me, being called childish can be a frequent occurrence. Every time we make irrational demands, exhibit irresponsible behavior, or display any other signs of being normal American citizens, we are called childish, which really bothers me. After all, take a look at these events: Imperialism and colonization, world wars, Georg
  • has a program called Kids Design Glass, and kids draw their own ideas for glass art. Now, the resident artist said they got some of their best ideas through the program because kids don't think about the limitations of how hard it can be to blow glass into certain shapes. They just think of good ideas. Now, when you think of glass, you might think of colorful Chihuly designs or maybe Italian vases, but kids challenge glass artists to go beyond that into the realm of broken-hearted snakes and bacon boys, who you can see has meat vision. (Laughter)
    • Andrea. C

I second this quote because I think it's simply true. A child's imagination has no boundried. Unlike an adult, all they know is how to act "childish" and I think it's a great source if you use it.
  •
the part that stood out for me the most is when she said "children are better than adults, because children just imagine all they want, while adults put limitations on the real world." In my point of view, this is just plain bull crap. True, older people put limitation on what they think, but that's because they know better. We all know that mass-producing transformer is nothing but a child's creative imagination, and does it make children better than adults by thinking that? I don't think so.

Kids do need to be heard more by adults. Some times children have better ideas and solutions then some adults. When kids go to there parents to help them with there math homework. Most of the time they don't understand and have to pay for a tooter. If this is the case dose this mean children are able to comprehend situations better than adults. By being able to salve and understand problems faster and easier.
  •
Well we listened to Adora Svitak who says adults should learn from kids as much as kids learn from adults. I have to say that's very true. My experience with adults is that they always say that they are right, always doing stuff for our own good...I don't think that's really true. My parents always say what I'm allowed to or not to do. It's not like in ever irrational event happens, I want to do. No, that's really not it. I obviously have weighted the consequences and chose not to do something or to do something. This classroom for an example is definitely of the lack of trust and that adults should listen to kids once in a while. A lot of us in this tell our teacher that we think whats up have no real.....effect on our education. It's not like we're lazy (sometimes we are, but not this), but we just don't get the purpose of it. I think that this is a great clip for adults to watch. I do wonder though, how many of the adults there actually took that session to heart. I wonder how many of them turned and just commented that was adorable or something? I get that sometimes when I tried to make a valid point...

I feel what this girl Adora Svitak was saying was true because parents do look at kids as childish and underestimate their abilities. I think it should go both ways, parents trust children and children trust parents.

Saving the World Through Game Design : The New Yorker - 0 views

"Jane McGonigal talks with Daniel Zalewski about alternate-reality gaming. From "Stories from the Near Future," the 2008 New Yorker Conference."
  •
"Can the alllure of gameplay be a force that draws people together?" Mcgonigal talks about massively multiplay gaming. She believes that instead of building games that are very different from the reality, she wants to build reality within the games. She starts off by telling the history of game and the father of games, herotitus. She saids that the core focus in game play is to engage yourself within the system. She also states that she believes that people play games because when they're playing a game, they're not suffering. I think this is true because people feel happy when they play a game that they like. Whenever I'm bored and unhappy, I go to my computer and start playing one of my favorite games. I really like the examples that she gives. One of the examples is world of warcraft. Tons of people play this game and wish that it were to become true because people online are so much more cooperative than people in reality. Before watching this video, I never thought about this kind of stuff before. I've always wondered what kinds of new games they would create since games are starting to become boring. I think that there should be more reality games instead of make believes so that we can learn from those games to live a better life. We can treat those games as personal trainers. I think that it would benefit many people because because there is a high percentage attraction towards games.
  •
Well right know, we are learning about gaming. I never really thought about the new technology that's going to be produce for gaming since I always really just thought about the games. I do wonder though what kind of technology would be produced. I hope it's pretty cool though like one of those future movies excluding the part where it takes over humans....I rather not be running around with little robots chasing me. Yeah, that really doesn't sound to appealing "This is ancient dice from the kingdom Lydia where Turkey is today. They used knuckle bones like from sheep to make dice." I find the dice very interesting. I really can't imagine the dice being formed from knuckle bones. I wonder how they do it. I'm going to guess that they used fire and pressure to form it? Not really sure, it's probably going to be similar to that I guess. "A future forecast: 2013. We increasingly live our real lives inside of massively multiplayer games." I find that pretty interesting for the fact of its 2010 and it kind of like that now. I mean people are playing massively multiplayer games even today. Mostly online. I think by 2013 something of what she's talking about will appear. It'll probably from Asia and it can be like that future movie where people live in a 3D world. They're like hooked onto machines and stuff. That would be interesting. Maybe dangerous.

Recently gaming has been coming up everywhere! I was listening to Jay Rosen and Dave Winer's podcast, "Rebooting the News." Rosen reported on his panel at South by Southwest. He said that at the end he twittered about how interested he had become about looking at the intersection of gaming and journalism. Rosen also mentioned that they had set up a webset for their Future of Context panel. I went looking and I found a post about gaming and journalism that includes these paragraphs about how gaming might bring context into journalism. "The way I envision it is to create some sort of social gaming experience that fills in the gaps. Want to fill the audience in on why health care costs so much? Why not an audience scavenger hunt that takes them through insurance companies, doctors, service providers, employers who pay premiums, and such? Or why not a Farmville type of game run in a hospital where users have to try and actually bend the cost curve themselves lest they go bankrupt, a situation that allows them to experiment with different health care systems so they can see the cause and effect of the choices we make as a society (in terms of patient coverage, costs, profits, etc? If Mafia Wars on Facebook can take off, surely this could. And how do they make these choices along the way? With blasts of information, ideally pulled from well reported news stories, that the user can actually apply to the situation in a way that increases both recall and understanding." Littau is presenting his vision here, and what a fvision it is. I can totally imagine playing a game in place of reading an article about health care. Once again, just when I thought I understood what gaming is, I see that there is more to learn. This is exciting!

The fight over the future of food | Reuters - 1 views

  •
I've been learning more about food security right now and in particular what I'm wondering about is: how the future of food supply will look like. I was researching this question online and this article caught my attention because of the title, "The fight over the future of food." I can't seem to imagine what the world will look like in a few years, not even in like a hundred years. \n\n"A combination of the food crisis and the global economic downturn has catapulted the number of hungry people in the world to more than 1 billion. The United Nations says world food output must grow by 70 percent over the next four decades to feed a projected extra 2.3 billion people by 2050."\n\nThe quote I chose here is basically saying that if not much is done, there won't be enough food for the growing population by 2050. There has to be a 70% increase of stable food production worldwide to help feed everyone. This is pretty intense because thinking ahead, 2050 is only 40 years away and I'll be like 57 years old by then. What will happen to me if there isn't enough food to feed me and my family? How will I react?\n\n I think this is an important issue for everyone to pay attention to because it affects everyone globally. Even though there are some actions being taken currently to fight the issue of food security and world hunger, it's not enough. There are too many factors that contribute to people not wanting to help out. I think it's mainly because of money. Because many countries are still in a recession, it's difficult for people to dig into their pockets to donate and help the cause. It's sad and unfortunate, but it's true.

My current inquiry question is about the legendary sea monster named Lochness. This podcast that I'm listening right now is about a discovery of an ancient long-necked creature named Dinosuffulosaurus, that inhabited the seats of what is now southeast China. The physical features of this creature looks strikingly similar to that of Loch Ness. The interviewer describes this creature as," Imagine an egg, a little bit squashed that is about 3 feet long. And on the front end of that, stick a neck that is about 5 feet long and about 3 inches in diameter. On the end of that put a head that is about 5 inches long. It's a very elongated neck head relative to the size of the body. The back end would've been a tail too but we don't know how big that was because it's not on this fossil." He had also compared the creatures neck to a Giraffes, however it's neck is more slender and long. He comes from a family of the Plesiosaur. What's most interesting is that the creature is not a dinosaur and is often mistakened as on. It is actually a marine reptile. They go on talking about the reptile's neck and what it's use was for. Unlike other reptiles/dinosaurs that possessed a long neck, Dinosuffollosaurus' neck was stiff. They say that reason for its long neck was to deceive their preys to think that they weren't as big as they were until it was too late. This method of feeding is called suction feeding, which is commonly used by many of the sea animals, such as fishes. The creature's fossil is currently in China and is placed there for further

  • He concludes his article by warning, “If the Korean Wave continues to surge, reflecting the diplomatic relations that supports a capitalist logic rather than a strengthening of the communicative power of civil society to provide the possibility of diversifying the cultural tastes of the masses, then it will have to put up a hard fight against China’s ethnocentrism and Japan’s malleable nationalism.”

Wow, that seems kind of harsh. I don't like the fact that these countries have such high competition with each other. It's like a constant war to see who is better. I guess it's just human nature to want to be the best out of the best.
  • Recent years have seen an increase in interest in the Korean language,[5] Korean cuisine[4] and Hanbok, the traditional Korean dress.

I have to totally agree with statement because the Korean culture is becomming more and more popular. Koreans all over the world are digging deep in to their inner self to represent their culture in the most positive way. Thanksgiving, or Chuseok, is now known all over the world and its making a name for itself. There is also Korean Children's Day and the Korean/Lunar New Year.

Haha, this is so true. Korean actors and actresses make so much money and most of them start at a young age, so they can be billionaires before they even get married. Take Bi Rain for example. He just finished filming the movie, Ninja Assassin in the U.S. I can't even imagine how much money he made off this movie alone.
  • The best-selling international singers from Korea are TVXQ also known as Dong Bang Shin Ki and Tohoshinki, Rain, and BoA; the latter due in no small part to her popularity in the J-pop market.
  • With the Korean Wave phenomenon splashing throughout the South East Asia with its dramas, catchy pop songs & B-Boys dances, the Korean language & Hangul are no longer an alien to Malaysians.
  • The Korean wave started with popular Korean drama winter sonata when TV3 bought the right to show it on malaysian TV."Winter Sonata" was the first of the Korean Waves to crash onto Malaysian shores.
  • A tsunami of Korean TV series such as "Autumn Fairy Tale," "Joyful Girl," "My Love, Patsi," and "Jewel in the Palace" followed its success. "Jewel in the Palace" which showcased Korean food was as addictive as "Winter Sonata" - its lead actress Lee Young-ae is second to Bae Yong-joon as the most popular South Korean celebrity in Malaysia.

The map have show us how terrible food problem in the world, the most terrible food problem is in Africa, because the map show most of the country in the Africa have the food problem, some of the prevalence of Undemourishment in total population is over 35 to 50 percent. One of the place have over 50 percent. In china, there have a little food problem also.
  •
This map shows the percentage of people affected by hunger. As you can see, Africa is most affected by this world issue. Almost more than half of the countries on the continent is 35% or more affected. There are also places in Europe, Asia, South America, and some places in North America that have hunger. Surprisingly, you don't see anything in the U.S. [I wonder why! I guess it's because we're the fattest nation in the world!]
  •
I'm learning more about food securities and how we can change the world by helping out. In this map, I can see that poverty exists more in the southern regions of the world. I think that it's kind of ironic when these are the countries that the world rely on. It's where we buy our cotton, our coffee beans, bananas and corn.
  •
The food hunger crisis is a big concern for me now because its very sad and horrifying to believe that this is actually happening as I type this. I could never imagine what kind life this could be because I have been so lucky and blessed with the life I have. In a way, even though I am just a middle/average class type of person, I feel very rich and spoiled compared to these helpless poor people who are starving around the world.
  •
The map have show that the food crisis around the world.on the map African was the most danger place.and the most part of North America have a percent of undernourishment in total population over 5%.

  • Kids can be full of inspiring aspirations and hopeful thinking

I agree with this sentence that many adults learn from kids. They might not notice it, but it always happens. Adults sometimes deny that fact because they believe that children's ideas are full of flaws and in other words, "childish". Now I, myself, really hate it when adults call us that because they, were also once a child. What Adora said that I agreed with the most was when she said that because we will also turn into adults, we will grow up to be better adults so that we can help the Earth move foward.

  • And that's a good thing because in order to make anything a reality, you have to dream about it first.

This is another fantastic point that Adora made. I also believe that in order to make anything a reality, you have to dream about it first. Everything that exists here(other than nature) started with an idea, imagination, wish, a dream.
  •
I just saw this video called " Adora Svitak: What adults can learn from kids". I liked this video due to the fact that it explains a lot about kids and adults. The traits the word childish addresses are seen so often in adults that we should abolish this age-discriminatory word when it comes to criticizing behavior associated with irresponsibility and irrational thinking.

UNICEF - Afghanistan - Promoting girls' empowerment through sport in Afghanistan - 1 views

  • UNICEF and the YICC have created a girls’ volleyball, hockey and football team – the latter has 16 members and is affiliated with the Afghanistan Football Federation – with the goal of engaging girls in community development and peace-building.

Right now, I'm learning about Women's Rights in different countries. I actually don't know a place from the top of my head that doesn't have equality for women. It makes me think how would my life be different today, if I was in one of those countries with no equality at all for women. I really think it would be really horrible and I can't imagine not having equality. It's like a nightmare almost... "The female football players in Bamyan have various plans for the future, from teacher to doctor, translator to painter. Once she completes her education, for example, Shekeba plans to become a police officer - "because so far, the policemen in Bamyan are not helping women when it is needed," she explains. " The quote I chose here is basically saying that Afghanistan doesn't have equality for women. The young girl here who says that women are not being helped by policemen is really interesting. I never thought they wouldn't...since police are suppose to...help everyone. I guess it just shows that women's equality is really important. I hope that women's rights is established in that country and others. I would take effort and it's little girls like that who dream to become something for the benefit of others that issues like this will be solved.

"In Bamyan, UNICEF has been working with the government since 2001 to support women's rights. Besides sport for girls and literacy classes for women, the agency supports local women's associations and works to raise awareness about gender equality at the family, community and district level."

I'm learning more about Girls/ Womens empowerment right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about this is how can you empower women or girls. I was researching this question online i came across this article. It caught my attention because the title is 'Promoting girls' empowerment through sport in Afghanistan.' It caught my attention because the title pretty much speaks for it's self. Girls can in fact be empowered through sports! This sparked my interest and so i began reading it. "Participation in sport is a critical part of any child's physical and social development, especially for girls. Sport can help to improve their self-esteem and self-awareness," says Dr. Atiqullah Amiri of UNICEF's Outpost Bamyan. "Sport teaches integrity and self-management by setting objective standards that girls can work to achieve." The quote I chose here is basically saying that sports can be a very big part of someones life. Sports can improve your overall self in many different ways. The ways in which are spoke about here is helping girls. It can improve their self-esteem and self-awareness, self-management and i believe it can build up great skills that can be put to use in everyday lives. Skills like team work, responsibility and so on. I think this is an very important fact. Sports can in fact help girls. It makes me wonder how powerful something can be, and how it can change something or someone like a sport. Like what is spoken about in this article.

I've been thinking about how some of the Diigo tools can help students to become a more thoughtful, slower, more considered process. "Carr goes on to argue that reading online---the most prominent form of reading for many---has devolved into nothing more than "power browsing," a horizontal trip through text characterized by skimming in search of content that is immediately engaging and accessible. Concentration is irrelevant to the online reader, as new pathways are only a quick click away. "Once I was a scuba diver in the sea of words," writes Carr, "Now I zip along the surface like a guy on a Jet Ski." " I agree that students tend to skim and perhaps look for nuggets they can use in their own writing when they read online. Changing this is what I want to use Diigo for.
