School Tool: Popplet Fuses Collaboration, Bookmarking, and Mindmapping | EdSurge News - 2 views

  •
A new tool discovery! Looks like an interesting combination of some apps we just "mastered"
  •
We use it with 5th and 6th grade! The only drawback that I see is that it connects to Flickr for images and not google which limits that feature. It does also connect to You Tube for educational videos, however. The kids use it quite easily. I like it.

There May Not Be an App for That - Whole Child Education - 0 views

  •
" I know now the secret to using any piece of technology in the classroom is to begin with clear learning goals and intentions that are based on "big understandings." Once students know what they need to learn, they will often find a way to express their ideas. Providing tools such as iPads for students enables them to use the items and skills they use outside of the classroom to communicate their knowledge. Furthermore, they are building the skills and learning how to use the tools that they may be required to use in the workplace."

  • Cools Tools for Schools Wikispace is Inspirational!
  • A colleague of mine found and bookmarked this wiki site and I have spent hours engaged in the multitude of avenues that learning can take place here.  The link is http://cooltoolsforschools.wikispaces.com/Home .  If you have a desire to learn a great deal about Web 2.0 learning tools, you will thoroughly enjoy this wiki.
  • The site is well organized with more than seventeen categories of “tools” ranging from Presentation Tools, Collaboration Tools, Audio Tools, Music Tools, Converting Tools, Image Tools, Research Tools, Mapping Tools, Quiz and Poll Tools, Graphing Tools, Creativity Tools, Video Tools, Slideshow Tools, Drawing Tools, Writing Tools, Widgets, etc.  I did not find one link that did not work and the pages were all very nicely linked for moving from page to page

  • I was pleasantly surprised that there was a link to a site still under construction but already containing many marvelous finds entitled “Cool Apps for Schools” and the link is http://coolappsforschools.wikispaces.com/home .  I especially liked the list of essentials for ipads, ipods, and iphones and I would highly suggest that you check out this list if you are a mobile device user
  • Web 2.0 Tools support Community and Collaboration Posted on February 21, 2013 by alwaysjan This is a Mind42 Map about Web 2.0 Tools.  These tools are used for collaboration and support of community.
  • “If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow.” (John Dewey)
  •
There are some amazing tools listed on these sites, including a Mind42 map of Web 2.0 Tools. I can see that my map is quite lacking compared to these. But, now I have an idea as to what to aim for. It would be great to set my students loose of some of these tools. "If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow." (John Dewey). This has been one of my favourite quotes along with "We need to prepare our students/children for jobs that have not been created yet" (Unknown). For me, they sum up what we as teachers need to strive for and that we need to keep on trying to stretch ourselves and our students...after all, we are 13% of the way through the 21st Century. It's exciting.

Google+ … Room for Another Social Network? - 1 views

  •
Google+, another social networking app, is more for professionals as depicted in the article. People can share and connect through G+ just like the way they do in Facebook. Also, it provides features that Facebook does not have, such as "Hangouts" and "Sparks",etc. It's about connectedness and a good platform to practice our media skills.

This is the new technology. Although as a sixth grade teacher I would envy the kindergarten teacher who has this technology, my 3 year old grandson can use the apps on my iphone. He knows which pictures to press and has learned a lot of information from the apps. It is the new Sesame Street as it keeps his attention and talks to him. As a tool it is differentiated education for each child.

Creative Suite 6 Ships; Creative Cloud Coming May 11 -- THE Journal - 2 views

  •
This is a brief article describing the Adobe Creative Suite update to 6.0. Aside from listing the latest updates, he most interesting part of this article is that Adobe is introducing the Creative Cloud. If you follow the link about the cloud it unveils a whole knew way of creative possibilities. The Creative Cloud is something I want to look into for our classroom. I am wondering if it is an alternative to purchasing hefty licenses every year.

    This is good news!
  •
I have a hard time imagining the powerful suite of Adobe apps working well in the cloud. For this cloud service to work, I would imagine one needing a seriously fast and reliable Internet connection. None the less, I am really excited to see if this lives up to the promises. Thanks for sharing.

I use Photoshop all the time at my school. I'm looking forward to what CS6 has to offer. Want to research more on The Creative Cloud. So far what I know, I like.

The Educator's Village: Creative Commons for Classroom Lessons | Edutopia - 1 views

This article is an intersting take on how two teachers at Burlington High School in MA are on a mission to integrate technology into the curriculum. It's not directly related to creativity, however, I feel that these two teachers are taking a very creative approach in how they want their students to learn.
