euronews is a world news site that supports 13 languages.  It provides a different view of news as compared to US news coverage.  

Today's Front Pages is a dynamic feature of the Newseum website, providing pdf versions and links to prominent newspapers around the US and around the world. To access today's news in another country and in another language, view the collection via the "Map"view which allows you to choose the region of the world you want to explore. As an activity for world language students, have them research a current event that appears on the front pages of several international papers, in English and in the target language. Use this activity to not only learn about current news and culture, but to explore how a singular event is reported differently by different newspapers.

This is a great resource for EFL teachers.  The site has the recent news articles delivered in three different levels based on learner ability. The site can be used for additional practice for EFL students or as homework.

This site has news articles in Spanish from around the world.

Paper.li provides a forum for students to find TL newspaper articles and publish an online class newspaper. This could be used with upper-level students to expose them to news and authentic language materials, and allow them to create based on their interests.

The purpose of this site is to share information about free resources that teachers can use in their classrooms. In 2008 Free Technology for Teachers was awarded the Edublogs Award for "Best Resource Sharing Blog." This is one of my favorite sites to find out what's new in tech for our use.  The April 11th blog post discusses typing accents in other languages.  It also presents 2 virtual keyboards for WL students. Also presented are links to learning languages, activities, and image-based language lessons.  

This is a link to Douglas' book on a new culture of learning. I only read the first chapter and thought that it was a good follow up to one of the video's discussion points, formal vs.informal learning. I do not know how it is that the entire book is available to read online, but it is.

This is an awesome resource that puts many of the technology pieces we are learning about in these courses all in one place. There are some other pieces that I have heard about and completely forgotten. These can be used in the classroom to aide tecahers and incorporate new technology in the lessons.

This interactive website is a great classroom tool for authentic, age appropriate readings. It is set up like an average news website, which offers students information on a broad range of topics. In addition, there is a teaching corner that offers free resources and topics for debate!

Create a free account on this French language website so you have access to all the great videos, articles and "dossiers".  For example, there's a one minute animated video that explains why we have the 1 hour time change this weekend.  Great for high school level French students.

Definitely a cool tool to use while watching all the videos in this certificate program!     VideoNotes is a neat new tool for taking notes while watching videos. VideoNotes allows you to load any YouTube video on the left side of your screen and on the right side of the screen VideoNotes gives you a notepad to type on. VideoNotes integrates with your Google Drive account. By integrating with Google Drive VideoNotes allows you to share your notes and collaborate on your notes just as you can do with a Google Document.

This chart shows how different iPad apps can satisfy different areas of Blooms taxonomy.  The chart shows the action words, adjectives, and applications for each area.   This chart offers ideas for technology for classroom teachers as well as the wording to use along with it.  I especially like the different apps for Analyse, many are new and useful for teachers.

The Office of State Assessment for New York provides comprehensive exams for French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, and Spanish. Available are past exams, teacher dictation sheets, and scoring keys including rubrics to assess student performance. Several past exams are provided for free.

The website Facts about Germany invites you to get to know Germany. It offers profound basic knowledge and guidance - especially designed for readers abroad whose interest in the course of time in Germany extends beyond the casual flood of the daily news.

Through a special agreement with more than 800 newspapers worldwide, the Newseum displays  front pages each day on its website. The front pages are in their original, unedited form.  I could see this being used to compare how different countries report news stories, especially international ones.  No papers from France, yet.  

Build your English vocabulary while reading the news.  

This is a game for Spanish learners and native speakers. It tests your vocabulary and helps you learn new words. Students need a smart phone or an ipad or Facebook to play.
